6-year-old boy missing in Pickens County

Pickens County Sheriff’s Deputies, firefighters and others are searching for a little boy who went missing earlier today.

Creed Hashe said several agencies have joined in the search for the boy.

Pickens County Sheriff's Office said Monday a reported missing 6-year-old boy has been found​ dead. The boy was found in a pond in a wooded area off midway road six hours after being reported missing, Pickens County sheriff's Deputy Creed Hashe said.

Hashe believes the child may have possiblly slipped into the water. But the investigation is still underway. Some areas of the pond are at least waist deep, Hashe added.

Deputies got the call about the boy wandering away from his home around 5:30 p.m. The boy has not yet been identified.
