Man arrested in connection to woman found dead in Marlboro Co. home
MARLBORO COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — The State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is assisting the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office in a death investigation Friday afternoon off of Stoneaway Road in Bennettsville, according to Chief Deputy Larry Turner with Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office.Turner said a woman was found dead inside the home. Her name isn’t being released at this time.
He said investigation has led to the arrest of Colin Sedrick Bruce on charges of murder in the woman’s death.
Turner added deputies got a call just after 12:30 Friday afternoon for a call for service in reference to a 3-year-old child wandering in the roadway in the Stoneaway Road area of Bennettsville.
According to Turner, once on scene, deputies were notified by the citizens, who assisted the child that he was relaying to them, that his mother was hurt in the home.
The child then advised officers of the same information at which time EMS was called and deputies entered the home. Turner said it was determined the child’s mother was dead, and that led to a death investigation.
The department requested SLED to help process the scene. He added the investigation revealed the woman’s death was a result of a homicide.
Bruce was questioned and subsequently charged in the woman’s death.

- Assault & Battery 3rd Degree - $5,000
