Well I hope she gets those cookies she loves everyday in prison for the rest of her life.
We can watch her gain girth & grey hair as she serves time stuffing her face!
JMO

It’s good that she likes jail cookies and soap as I’m thinking she will be using them for some time. Her calls are so telling of how she really doesn’t get it.

dang, maybe we should give some cookies to the victim, to make it even.

...

Wait, I see a problem with that plan.

I respect and understand her lack of criminal history and her higher level education but decisions like she has made here doesn’t show intelligence or education at all.
In her case the lack of criminal history just means she didn't get caught. Imagine how many times she drove under the influence.

I think courts give consideration to an education and lack of a crime record but she has probably negated that with her own statements/actions. I also think the phone comments about remorse were jailmate/lawyer coaching.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (TCD) -- A grand jury returned a four-count indictment against a 26-year-old woman who allegedly drove her car into a golf cart transporting a couple on their wedding night, killing the bride and injuring three people.

Charleston County court records show Jamie Komoroski was indicted Wednesday, Sept. 20, on one count of driving under the influence resulting in death, two counts of driving under the influence resulting in great bodily harm, and one count of reckless homicide in connection with the death of Samantha Hutchinson.

Komoroski remains in custody at the Charleston County Jail, where she is being held without bond.

Good.

It's one thing when drunk drivers who kill people are acting inappropriately in the hours after the deaths. They are presumably still drunk and probably don't grasp what's going on. It's ugly and awful and being drunk isn't an excuse but an explanation for their actions.

This is days and weeks later. She obviously has had time to reflect on things. And she still is totally self-focused and seemingly in denial about how her actions killed a person and how she is not the victim, she is the perpetrator. There is no justification or explanation for being like this at at this point aside from the fact that she's an awful person, IMO.

Two bars accused of overserving a woman who authorities say drunkenly hit a golf cart carrying a newlywed couple away from their reception, killing the bride, have reached a tentative settlement with the groom, who was seriously injured.

The Drop In Bar & Deli and The Crab Shack have agreed to pay "certain sums" to Aric Hutchinson that were described by his lawyer as "reasonable," according to a Sept. 28 petition for approval in Charleston County Court in South Carolina.

The settlement is confidential, and the case will continue against other defendants, Hutchinson's attorney, Daniel Dalton, said in an email. A judge must approve the settlement.

The April 28 crash killed Samantha Miller, 34, and wounded three other occupants of the golf cart. Aric Hutchinson survived with a brain injury and multiple broken bones.

MIL is nothing but a mean drama queen. MOO

I hope both of them will realize how this doesn’t show respect for the victim and they can get the matter settled.

This is interesting. I sure hope there is more to this than "my daughter would have wanted me to handle this." If she had walked in to my office with this I would have told her that I couldn't help her. But wrongful death cases work differently from state to state. But as is, I can't imagine she has much of a chance of taking over the estate. And she is just created a lot more heart-ache at this point.

The division between the mother and husband is really sad. I agree that it's not the honoring the victim and her memory. Both parties have a tremendous loss that money will never replace. I wish they had chosen mediation and grief counseling vs lawsuits. Sad!

It sounds like he was willing to share with proceeds, but who knows. You have to have one person in charge of an estate. Having a team rarely works out well. Besides, even if she gets to take over at the personal rep, the Husband is still likely the heir. This sounds like a mother that is deep in grief and isn't surrounded by good support people right now.

I think here in SC the husband would be the heir.

So sad when family turns on each other. I started in family law, and that was just too sad for words. I work in civil ligation now but we have cases often involving family members suing each other. It is just very sad. And down the road, there are often so many regrets.

I used to do a fair amount of domestic law work but I do almost none now. It is awful. And I don't have the stomach for it. Even criminal cases are much easier emotionally to handle than domestic/family law.

The way the mother is carrying on, it appear she has not processed her grief well. .

She needs to see a mental health professional, perhaps a psychiatrist who can help her find an inpatient treatment facility and appropriate medications.

Her grief postings to the media do not acknowledge his loss. He was in the crash and was severely injured. He needs more support than she does.

Edited.
