I can't place any blame on the grandmother. True, she might have been as wacky and cruel as Cindy A., but, WE are responsible for our own actions or inactions.

I agree.

another piece of chit "mother" !!

AMEN!

While watching JVM tonight they were talking about how the 🤬🤬🤬 couldn't afford to take care of them. Well, I looked at the 🤬🤬🤬 and it doesn't look like she missed a sandwich lately.

We're in a single income home, and our son always comes first. But trust me, DH and I always manage to make something out of nothing.

There were resources out there for her -- no doubt (welfare, etc). I think it's just an excuse, and she was really getting back at her mom.

MOOOOOO

Nancy Grace is discussing the case tonight. :(

Ahh...keep us posted. I turned it on and she was still yapping about Fantasia (as if I could care). So I turned it off...

Sorry to get OT.

Sorry I didn't take notes but Sue Moss and Daniel Horowitz were both on so I think you can imagine......and needless to say NG is outraged.

There should be a transcript later!

We all view life thru our own experiences, i'm not saying you can't educate yourself or make changes.
Children are gifts, they are not your possesion nor is it right to play god and take their life.
But Grandma had an adult child, whom she dos'nt think much of. Thats a communication thing it did'nt just start - the babys just ammunition. If Grandma cared she would of/could of contacted the appropiate services, not booted them to the curb. Grandma's just waiting for her daughter to fall - just so she can say - I told you so.
Abuse is a chain, I broke it, i was the goverments shining star, then i conntacted my parents. 10 years of work trashed within an hour.
What this woman did is horrible but i do understand in a very sad way.
But i do not see it as like Casey Anthony case.
Children could be taught in school this is ok thats not and parenting classes cause most will be parents.
Its not so easy to get help, i was a very negligent mom its what i knew. I begged them to take my child i'm just lucky i moved to the country. In the city i would never of got the support - just one of many.
Some abusers are just dirt - but this girl just sad life and ignorant of what life could be.

oh yea, the fat thing. When going to food banks the basics are - raman noodles, kraft dinner, bread, bulk stuff - in poor house holds same thing. Being poor made me fat, i look like poor. i never thought i would have this life, i looked down on people. live and learn.

I missed the news conf, I guess there will be a video of it later ?

Hopefully this 🤬🤬🤬 gets the max in sentencing, anything less than LWOP would be unacceptable.

SC has death penalty and this case shows premeditation, intent to kill. Seems to me DA will go for DP, can't see why he wouldn't.

Why would she qualify for daycare vouchers if she didn't have a job? Possibly she was supposed to be job-hunting.

In SC is possible to qualify for most anything. I would bet kids were in daycare because she just didn't want to be bothered up with them.

Nao - I'm so sorry. I didn't mean for you to take my post personally. I remember the days when gran had to go to the foodbank, and rec'd such necessities. She was raising 4 boys and didn't have a minute to sit down. The boys were lucky to get what they could. Live and learn is right.

I'm sorry for what you've been through - it sounds like a rough road. From your earlier post, you must have an incredible spirit, and I'm glad you're here to share.

Hugs,

Mel

We are all responsible, even if we come from a bad/hard situation for our actions.

Another very sad story and more children lost. Too much to even comprehrend, again.

Rest in Peace little ones.

I'm sorry but if she couldn't afford them or she couldn't handle taking care of them, why did she keep having them? Especially that close together. She had the choice not to get pregnant.

Right ,and lets not forget that she has a little college at least and she is not a young girl at 29 she is very capable of being a grown up and taking care of her children. Her first daughter was born when this woman was 24.

She seemed to avoid unwanted children before the age of 24. The not knowing about birth control is not going to work. She was living with her parents for awhile so not affording them is a non issue as well because She had free child care so not working is her own fault and there are shelters that help woman with children get on their feet. Most people who work the system and get free child care also know the faster way into a low income home is though a shelter. As hard as it all may sound..it seems it would have been much easier then killing her babies.

(CNN) -- A South Carolina woman accused of suffocating her children before strapping them into a car and pushing it into a river is scheduled to make her first court appearance Wednesday.

Shaquan Duley faces two counts of murder in the deaths of her two toddler sons, the Orangeburg County sheriff said. Police identified the dead children as XXXXXXXXX, age 1, and XXXXXXX, 2.

It wasn't immediately known whether Duley had retained an attorney prior to her arraignment.

Investigators said Duley, 29, was unemployed, single and apparently fed up with criticism from her mother when she allegedly smothered her children, strapped their lifeless bodies into car seats and submerged her car in a river.

Meanwhile, officials released 911 calls from witnesses.

"A car ran in the pond and got kids in there," one caller said. "We need help fast, please."

Orangeburg County Sheriff Larry Williams told reporters Duley had no means of taking care of her children.

"She lives with her mother, and her mother was a very, I guess, firm individual," Williams said. "She often talked with her daughter about, I guess, maybe being more of a mother or being more reliable."

Mother and daughter argued the night before the children's bodies were found early Monday in Duley's Chrysler sedan, Williams said.

"We believe this is a direct response (to the argument) from Ms. Duley," he said. "I believe she was just fed up with her mother telling her she couldn't take care of the children, and she wasn't taking care of her children, and she just wanted to be free."

I just don't understand WHY mothers like this will not give their children a chance at life. She could have just handed those children over to grandma. Grandma could've called CPS and asked for help for her grandchildren, you don't throw them to the wolves...:furious:

Rest In Peace little ones...

She wasn't working, if she wanted socialization that badly for her boys she could have taken them to play with other kids in the area, not drop them off for someone else to take care of all day.

"Tommy Pope, the prosecutor who put Smith in prison, told CNN's Kyra Phillips on Wednesday that his first thought, upon hearing about the Duley case, was "Here we go again."
