I love what this poster wrote on the message board with that article:

"media restraint....they know a big payout is coming when the arrest comes, be patient everyone THEY AREN'T BEING FOOLED.

It's coming...can't you feel it? Like a storm rolling in....this week or the next will be very telling."

If there was even a 40% chance this mother was telling the truth, here's what Greenville, South Carolina would look like right now: The Greenville County Sheriff's Office would have a command post running 24/7. Other agencies from the state and neighboring counties would be helping conduct the manhunt under Sheriff Steve Loftis' direction. Every news outlet would be leading with the story in every newscast. The composite photo would be on the door of every business in the area. Finally, based on the Sheriff's Office's reputation, I'd venture to say the killer would have been caught by now. There are a couple of homicide investigators within the department who I have the utmost respect for (Paul Silvaggio being the best, in my opinion) and, if I were still working the beat, I suspect these guys would be telling me off the record that they think...
this is part of a huge post by some1 called sheena on the forums at the link above. she lives in the town and was a reporter at 1 time she says. it is worth the time to read the whole thing. she makes a few really good points.

Thank you sherri79-that article is very telling, imo, and just about says it all. Hopefully we will see her in cuffs soon!

According to forum talk, she did not make an appearance at the candlelight vigil for Devon. Chad (Devon's father) did, and even sang a song for his son which apparently brought many to tears.

Just checking in to see if she's, opps I mean the killer, has been arrested yet.

http://www.greenvilleonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070820/DATA02/70820036The investigation into the Aug. 12 killing of a 7-year-old boy is relying on a single eyewitness: the mother who says a carjacker put a pillow over her son’s face near Interstate 85, a spokesman for the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said today.
If other people were around, they haven’t come forward, said Master Deputy Michael Hildebrand. "We can only go on the information she’s providing us," he said.

Interesting, sherri, they changed the title of that article to "No new witnesses in boy's death". Wonder why? (note sarcasm)

Pillow tested for clues in boy's death
Investigators also running tests on car where mother says child was killed

Investigators are running forensic tests on a woman's Honda Civic and the pillow that she says a carjacker used in the Aug. 12 death of her 7-year-old son, a spokesman for the Greenville County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
Nine days after Devon Epps' killing, Lt. Shea Smith said deputies haven't named a suspect. Smith declined to say whether deputies were testing DNA or hair samples from the car and pillow. Asked whether a suspect brought the pillow to the crime scene, Smith said, "My understanding is that the pillow was inside the vehicle." (more at link)

I wondered if they would be able to pick up anything from the pillow. If they can somehow pick up Devon's dna (sweat, drool, blood), and find some of her's on it too...but not anything from a stranger that might be telling.

I'm getting too CSI, aren't I?!

That's IF the pillow was used by the killer at all, I guess. If she did it, she might have strangled him but used the pillow to keep from seeing his face as she did it. Or keep him from seeing her face.

This one may take some time...she may be a hard one to break down. But I can't think of any stranger who'd kill a child like that. I find it odd she didn't attend the vigil. That says something right there. Is there any video of the mother? I knew Susan Smith was lying just listening to her. My stomach turned the very first time I saw her on tv.

Guess she didn't confess yet?

I find it odd, too, about the vigil. With Susan Smith, it was the voice thing, but also her body language revealed her shiftiness... then when Marc Klaas and Jeanne Boyton went to SC to help find answers, SS totally blew them off. Boyton had permission from LE to contact SS, because her goal was to help draw a better image of the suspect SS described, but in the end SS refused to meet with either Klaas, or Boyton to create a better drawing. In other words, actions spoke louder than words.

This may be the case here... her not showing up at the vigil just may be the first small step in revealing the truth through her actions. Mind you, I know I can't say this with conviction and there is that remote possiblity that she didn't murder her child. We will just have to wait and see... just keep watching her actions...
