Hmmmm, very interesting post at Steve Huff's entry.

I live a block from where this incident occured. Amanda lived in one of my landlords houses. My roommate had played with Devon while working on their house for our landlord. The story has sat wrong with me since the first time I heard about it. There are small details in the story I have read that do not add up correctly. Such as the fact that on Frontage Road there isn’t a stop sign at the intersection with Jacobs Road, the stop sign is on Jacobs so if she was on Frontage Road like the stories claim then she wouldnt have had a reason to slow down or stop. If she was on Jacobs turning on to frontage then she would have had to stop, but then how did all the news channels and papers get the story wrong? People just do not usualy walk down the roads in this area. And where the man supposedly killed Devon and then got out of the car, isnt far from where she was supposedly car jacked. It is across the street. I drive by it every day. You can see it from the road, this is a fairly busy area, why didnt anyone see this going on? And what person in their right mind is going to spacifically carjack a car with a child and a pillow in the car so that they can smother it? I just don’t think its possible, somethings amiss in Denmark.

saliva would also be a clue. here is the problem i see. in this case lack of evidence may tell more than what they actually find. if they find saliva it wont mean it was ever held over his face. he may have drooled while sleeping on it at some point. skin cells from mom mean nothing. it was in her car so she probably touched it more than once.

if they dont find saliva from him it is a clue. if a man held it over his head while he pressed on his throat you would expect saliva. none means the pillow was never held over his face. no male skin cells except Devon's is a clue. any one who has given medicine to a 2 year old knows how hard a kid can struggle. i would find it hard to believe that during approximately 4 mins of this child being held down and fighting with a pillow over his head that the killer would not leave behind some skin cells. no cells from a male strange again points at the mother.
Not only saliva, blood & tears on the pillow, and I'm sure the child struggled, scratching who was holding the pillow. I also find it odd no mention of foreign hairs from a male were found, or I didn't read about any. The sunroof was open????? Well how in the H*ll could she not get in the car..if nothing other than to give her child a chance to RUN! I'd be in the car ripping every hair out of his head and trying to snatch his eyeballs out. VERY, VERY strange she has no marks from struggling with this carjacker. Almost as if she just stood by and let it happen. The crime scene is all too "clean" for anyone else to have been there IMO.

Question: Who first released the name of the mother? The police, or the people on the greenvilleonline forum? (Or here?)

As far as I know, the first time her name was in public was when the obituary appeared on the greenville news site (not the forum). It listed all the family members, btw.

Investigators are chasing two tips that they hope will lead to the driver of a white Lincoln Town Car seen in the area where a mother says a carjacker killed her son on Aug. 12, a spokesman for the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday. Deputies have been told that the 1998-2005 car was seen between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. on the night 7-year-old Devon Epps was killed

I'm just spitting out a theory here:
I wonder if the driver of that lincoln town car was a friend of the Mother's and maybe they helped. Maybe LE knows this and is trying to put the squeeze on them via the media? I haven't been to the greenville board-not much time to read a bunch of threads, has anyone mentioned anything like this over there?

The posters over at the greenvilleonline forum really haven't spoken much about what they think of the lincoln town car tips. There have been some who have theorized that the tips are coming from Amanda's friends in an attempt to divert attention from her. I recall one or two people theorizing that she had an accomplice in the car. The big discussion (when they aren't getting all Jerry Springer on each other) centers around when she is going to be arrested. Here is a posting from just a short while ago:

to all, I know there arent many post from me, but, the reason GCSO released what they said was because they time to gather the last few “NAILS” to drive in the coffin. A little bird happened by my neck of the desert and without telling to much, lead me to believe that they were very close and yes MYSPACE played a role in this case. The case will have to be moved to another venue because of the publicity this case has gotten in the upstate. It will be a joyous day when the reporters once again make ARS front page newsagain, only this time, she will be in leg irons and belly chains. What a day that will be. ALso, alot of leads turned out to be people who were actually pretty credible, but they were like leads in a lot of other cases, people seeing what they wanna see. Well I just want to pass the word along that this should be over soon. The GCSO still have about 4 or 5 test that take a little longer, such as trying to determine weather or not the injuries devon suffered reflect that of someone who was injured by a person with large hand or the more petite hands of someone else. The forensic Pathologist is currently reviewing all of the evidence to make a case. It is hard because they can be interpreted diff by diff doctors. I hope this will help all the armchair CSI teams that have lost so much sleep over this…… ”

Word on the streets is arrest by this weeked. My take? By the Grace of God, the word on the streets is correct.

I have followed this story from the beginning and live in the area. The Greenville boards are reporting today that ARS has her car back now and is driving it. That, in itself, speaks volumes. However, I feel sorry for her grandparents, who have to see the car at their house each day, still thinking, possibly, their grandson was killed there. Whether the mom ever wants to see that car again is one thing, but I'm sure the grandparents would rather not. The fact it is no longer being held as a crime scene is another interesting point. I really hope this is over soon, but I know it is being done the right way and there will be no loopholes when the case is finished.

Hmmm I wonder what that means, that she has he car back. Could it mean they concluded she's innocent?

  • #270
Or, they have concluded it isn't the crime scene, more likely. That thought is more in keeping with the "mother" knows things she's not telling.

I would never drive that car again! The memories it holds...

'k.... I still think they're just crossing their t's and dotting their i's then. Matter of time, hopefully.

Well-for the Mom it's probably just a thing she used to get away with murder-not too memorable in her mind, I'm sure
I swear-if she gets away with this I will puke

We can only hope............and wait.

There are also some other posters on the greenville boards who seem to have some inside connection with either the coroner's office or LE, and they are indicating that the autopsy showed NO fibers from the pillow in Devon's airway.

Wow0that would be really great-if it's true Reannan, but I wonder just how many people over there are just saying stuff to see their names on the screens in front of them

hard to say. 1/3 the people on that forum are just heart broken and want to vent. 1/3 either have information or are looking for clues like we often do. 1/3 are just nuts or trying to be a pain in the @$$. good luck figuring out who is who. that being said it is a small town and those of us who have lived in a small town know secrets are impossible to keep. i really hope these people have it right. every time i see some1 has posted on this thread i get a little rush and hope they have arrested her. i already check the links 2 or 3 times a day in hopes of new information. this is one of those cases that gets under your skin. if she killed her son every day that she rides around in the death car and visits her friends just eats me up.

The information on that board right now is about as clear as the fog of war. Some people may be saying things just to bait others into saying other things. Crazy..... I am SO glad this site isn't like that. Anyway, there is a debate about whether or not she has gotten the car back. Someone who lives close to the grandparents thought they saw the car, but someone else said they had contacted LE, and she does NOT have the car back, and isn't getting it back anytime soon. Still hoping for resolution ASAP.

Update on the car-there is some discrepancy on whether the car seen is actually the mothers. It is seeming, now, that it was not.
The greenvilleonline forum has about 3 or 4 people that do have some connections with the people working this case and have been pretty consistent in what they are posting. Most of the time they are posting the same thing. Oddly enough, the one with the most info is in the desert near Iraq right now, but seems to have some top connections here. That is where the detailed findings from the ME came from.
Two of the four people have checked on the status of the car and so far it seems that the car has NOT been released. It is "there for good." The others are going to check their sources also.
Greenville is a decent size city, but in the law enforcement community, there is still a lot of family connections that go a long way.
I will agree with Reannan, if the trollers and the ones wanting to bicker would back away, it would be much easier to read the postings on the Greenville board. Yesterday started out quite calm, but last night was a different story...
