GUILTY SC - Devon Epps, 7, murdered, Greenville, 12 Aug 2007

I thought I had read on the greenville forum that there had been a shirt or covers thrown over the lamp?

I'd have to go back and check to be sure but I could swear I read that when her friends were all posting in the beginning.

It was a blanket which was supposedly thrown over the lamp. ARS had posted on her Myspace BEFORE the fire happened, that she used 100 watt light bulbs. Seemed to be a strange thing to post.

Why does that lady in the transcripts with NG keep saying ''you know..you know you know...Oh my God I could barely read the transcript because that was getting on my nerves. Sorry you guys I don't know what your opinion is of this murder but mine is that the mother did it. Hands down!

The woman must have been nervous on NG's show. I know I would have been.

I thought I also remember being told by her close friends that the pillow was in her car because she was giving away items to Goodwill. Anyone remember anything like that?

Something that makes me wonder about the fire, could it have been a previous attempt to kill him? Only it didn't work because he woke up. One reason why I wonder this is because they happened so close together.

I think that is exactly what that fire was intended to do. Esp. when the little boy told his aunt that when he tried to wake his mommy up that it took forever for her to get up. What? was she holding off for the last second hoping that smoke would get in her boy's lungs and then she could run out of the house and act the 'grieving' parent? This lady has Susan Smith written all over her.

Probably had trouble waking her up because she was probably sloshed.

Wow! I am so excited that this is FINALLY getting national news-if that does put pressure on Amanda (and LE) I don't know what will!!

I remember one of the earliest reports saying the pillow was in the car because they had just returned from a trip to the beach. Regarding the fire, I sort of tend to think it really was an accident. The fact that ARS immediately capitalized on the opportunity to place herself in the spotlight as the hero is very telling. She is obviously unstable, because it was idiotic to think she could get away with a story that was instantaneously a contradiction to what her son was saying. Her own family and friends have stated that they had found this strange. I believe Devon's murder is one of two situations. 1. She premeditated it, and did it. She would have thought through all of the "how" and "when" questions, and the carjacking seemed to probably offer the best scene forensically speaking. If she had claimed a home invasion, LE would have been crawling all over her home. Under this "she did it" scenario, I believe she created a story that she thought would net her a lot of sympathy and concern. She had to know she was going to get attention as a "grieving mother", but under the carjacking scenario, she would also have gotten attention for having narrowly escaped with her own life. (stupid woman) :banghead: 2. Devon was actually murdered in a fit or rage by someone else. There really doesn't appear to have been a boyfriend. Her original MySpace really didn't seem to be trolling for guys. It was completely dedicated to partying with her girlfriends. Rumors over at the greenvilleonline forum from people who knew her indicated that she had a live-in girlfriend who shared a bed with her. Devon was rumored to have wanted to get into bed one night with his mother, and the girlfriend told him to "Go away, you little f_ _ ker.". We have all seen women cover the abuse and murder of their child by a boyfriend.....the same thing seems to be feasible for a girlfriend. This scenario explains the white Lincoln Town car, seen in the area within moments of the crime that LE has been looking for. If Devon was murdered elsewhere, they would have put his body in the car, and transported it to the crime scene. They would have assisted with moving it from the backseat to the ground behind the car where he was found. ARS would have then given the assistants time to get out of the area before placing the 911 call. Personally, scenario number 2 feels like the best fit IMO. I think LE is trying to get all of the forensics together to tie this accomplice in, if there really is one. This case just HAS to be solved. It is so obviously NOT what it is being spun to be.

Nancy Grace's face when she discussed this case last night said it all. That expression! If disbelief had a picture next to it in the dictionary, it'd be Nancy's face!

I wish I had been able to watch it. Thank you guys for posting the transcripts!!
I am glad a family member spoke to NG, her account was extremely telling. I honestly believe that LE is waiting for all of the forensics before they arrest her. I didn't realize the Susan Smith case was only one hour from Greenville. I bet Greenville LE have been in contact with those who handled the SS case.

I agree with this statement from the Nancy Grace transcript:

PAT BROWN, CRIMINAL PROFILER: Well, I`m -- I think it`s the most ridiculous story I`ve ever heard, this carjacking story, and I`m beginning to believe that this woman wanted that son out of her life. She exhibits a lot of the Munchausen syndrome by proxy, where you either make a kid sick to get attention or kill them to get attention. And a lot of those women have nursing backgrounds, and this woman was a nursing student.

I really think Pat Brown is on to something here. She does exibit Munchausen syndrome, especially with the fire a few months before.

Cali, ARS's friends who posted in support of her at Greenville online all said basically the same thing. Amanda had a hard life. That her mother had died. She suffered abuse by a "cult church", she was this poor little single mom. It was her against the world so to speak. IMO, ARS has been playing the sympathy card for a very long time and eventually took it to another level.

I agree! About the lady who kept saying "you know" and about the mom. Her being guilty is the only storey that makes any sense.

I couldn't agree with you more SuziQ! I really feel like she is responsible for this and I hope LE is able to solve this case soon.

I just ran across this article from 9/24/07:
http://www.wyff4.com/news/14187701/detail.htmlDevon Epps' Aunt Disbelieves Carjacker-Killer Story

POSTED: 7:02 am EDT September 24, 2007
UPDATED: 11:57 am EDT September 24, 2007

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The great aunt of a 7-year-old boy who was killed more than a month ago said there are holes in the story the child’s mother told investigators about his death.
The case got some national attention this weekend when the Devon Epps’ great aunt, Diane Jacques, appeared on CNN to talk about the case.
Jacques talked to CNN host Nancy Grace on Friday about the death of her nephew’s unsolved homicide.
Jacques said she went on the Nancy Grace program to keep Devon’s story alive.
"What person's going to take the time out to roll the windows up and lock the door," Diane Jacques said. "And describing the guy as being so many feet high and 200 pounds in her car in the back seat. There's no way."

Just bumping this to get it back on the first page.

On that Greenville forum people have posted links to, people are saying forensics show he was killed well before he was found. One person says 1:30 (doubtful), another 6:30 or 7:30. I think the "carjacking" happened around 10?

I'm surprised they haven't publicised the case more. Locals say reporters are trying to "protect" the case--I think they are just lazy. What's to protect?

Is there a news report stating this or is it just posts from readers? I would not be supprised if it were true, I don't believe the mother's story for a second. When I read her statements Diane Downs was the first name that came to mind for me
