Abbeville Police searching for missing elderly man with dementia last seen Saturday night

ABBEVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) The City of Abbeville took to social media to ask for help finding a missing elderly man who suffers from dementia.

According to a Facebook post from the city, Abbeville Police are looking for Mr. Eddie C. "Bay Hay" Dunlap, 87. Mr. Dunlap was last seen around 10 p.m. Saturday night on Secession Avenue.


Police say he is most likely wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. Though he normally wears eyeglasses, police say Dunlap does not have them with him.

This is sad. It's so hot out. I hope he's found quickly and is safe. I did notice in a comment dogs are being used. Please let them find him today.

Massive search launched for missing Abbeville man

ABBEVILLE — A massive, daylong search in Abbeville for a missing man with dementia ended unsuccessfully on Sunday, despite extraordinary efforts taken to locate him — including halting train traffic later in the evening to accommodate search parties.

Eddie C. “Bay Hay” Dunlap, 87, apparently walked out of his Secession Avenue home late Saturday night and began walking toward Abbeville’s downtown square, city police Chief Ron Bosler said.

On Monday morning, crews in Abbeville County assembled at the South Side Baptist Church in Abbeville to continue the searching for a missing 87-year-old man.

On Monday, crews from the Abbeville Police Department, Abbeville County EMS, Abbeville County Fire, Laurens County Fire, the Abbeville County Sheriff's Office, and Abbeville City and Fire and Rescue set up a base in the parking lot of the family life center at the church.

Police say missing Abbeville man suffering from dementia has been found

ABBEVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) On Monday, the officials in the City of Abbeville said the search for a missing 87-year-old man suffering from dementia was called off after he was found.

Mr. Eddie C. "Bay Hay" Dunlap was last seen Saturday, July 20 around 10 p.m. on Secession Avenue.

Police say they found him in the same area near, Perry Street at 1:30 p.m. They said he was taken to the hospital, but was responsive.
