Kids are actually safer today than when you were a child. The only difference is that we are aware of the dangers now, and are more connected than we have ever been.

The perception doesn’t match the reality.

Here’s a summary from a few different articles, and a couple of those articles. It’s about 5 years old, but nothing has changed.

Contrary to popular belief, kids in America are way safer than they've been in decades

It's Incredible How Much Safer America Has Become Since The 1980s
Thank you for this post. I needed this more than you realize. I thought I was a helicopter Mom to my girls, but it is nothing compared to how I worry about the safety of my grandchildren. Perhaps I need to step back and let them be kids. As with everything, teach them the best we can how to be safe and cautious, but worry less and pray more.
These cases tear at my heart in a way I can't explain - but I realize most of you in this group understand exactly what I mean without elaborating.
RIP sweet Faye

Maybe that holds true for those who were young in the 1980's, but when my generation grew up, in the 1950's, we were much safer.

We are absolutely devastated on the loss of this precious child right here in our community. Having to go to the school right after hearing the news and thinking of telling my child that she had passed was awful. The tears started and would not stop. If it wasn’t for my child being excited to exchange valentines with his classmates today, I would keep him home.
These cases have always been so hard for me, but when it happens so close to home, it’s devastating.

Fly high sweet Faye.

Actually, it even holds true for the 1950s. Kids are safer today. Linking just one of many things I found to support that. My parents were kids in the 50s and I have heard many stories. My mom was abused beyond belief and even neighbors with open windows didn’t help. Not that everything is perfect today, but in many ways it is safer.

So it has to be a NAPA employee, right? Why else would they close the NAPA? Works there, opportunity by proximity, probably hangs out in those woods on breaks, maybe smokes/drinks in there, etc?

...or... they closed the NAPA because NAPA's security cams caught some of the crime?

...or... that was just during the initial search and NAPA has nothing to do with it...

Today she should be celebrating with her class, Exchanging Vday cards, marveling over her cards & the sweet treats, looking forward to her daddy visiting. Instead she’s in a morgue.

I agree. It rips my heart out. Imo, he was coming to see his sweet baby girl for her birthday.

I can’t find the twitter post right now, but I believe that the only link to the NAPA store was that it backed up to the woods they had taped off.

(Take this as speculation because we truly have very little info and nothing has been verified yet)

Increase in deaths, population causing delays in autopsies at MUSC
Oliver said January 2020 revealed an unprecedented number of deaths, a total of 147 fatalities.

According to Oliver, no month reached that level in 2019, and only three months surpassed 100 deaths in 2018. Oliver attributed the rise in deaths to an increasing population in Berkeley County.

Oliver said he noticed MUSC’s autopsy delays start near the middle of 2019. He said he was asked to hold onto some bodies in Berkeley County’s morgue instead of bringing them directly to MUSC.

“The morgue they have down there only holds a certain amount of people, and they are now doing autopsies for not just Berkeley County, Charleston and Dorchester, but a good majority of the state,” Oliver said.

The counties sending the most cases to MUSC right now include Beaufort, Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester, Colleton, Sumter, Lexington, Florence, and Jasper Counties, according to Presnell.

I remember a post by one of her family members on social media hoping Faye would be back home before Valentine's day as that was one of her favorite days. She has passed away now but I imagine she will get many cards from her classmates, I'm sure she'll still be able to read them from up above. ❤

As girly as she seemed to be, I bet she loved Valentine’s Day. The glitter, vibrant colors, all of it!

My opinion: either police haven't had a chance to tell the man's family that he's passed away or they want to completely figure out what happened before they release his name to the media otherwise an innocent dead man might have his reputation tarnished forever. Its likely this man was the one responsible for Faye's death (considering the police repeatedly claiming the public is not in danger) but there would be a very small chance he might have been the victim of circumstance, with the real perp killing him as a frame job, it's possible I guess.
I’m actually surprised I haven’t seen any “rumors” online about this persons identity! And believe me, I’ve been looking.

Your link explicitly shows that the homicide rate for children was more than double in 2005 than in 1950 - and more than quadruple for 1-4 year olds

You're not the only one. I wonder if it's going to be a complete shocker.

Mind is swirling with theories, questions; I know I'm not alone.

They said the investigation into the male deceased was just beginning. Which could mean that individual is not related to this case at all and was found by coincidence.

But the noticeable tone change and how they focused on Faye in the beginning before mentioning the male deceased (naturally, as it should be) - it's hard to think the male isn't related to this. Especially when they finally issued the "no threat to the community" line. They could have just been trying to get ahead of any rumors, but... :(

I do believe the deceased man will turnout to be the pedophile predator once the investigation is concluded.

No way at this juncture would LE assure the public there is no danger to the community if they did not believe he is the suspect. They already know many things we dont know about this man.

It shows once again it only takes less than a minute to abduct a child. Or as many pedophiles do he could have lured her to go with him. We like to think little children wouldn't be so trusting, and go, but sadly we have seen it happen way too many times with disastrous results for the child.

It's a neverending trail of tears that never seems to end.

The in depth studies based on 775 actual cases involving abducted, and murdered children state 44% of the time the kidnapper will be a total stranger to the child victim.

42% of the time the child victim will be abducted by a neighbor or acquaintance, etc.

The number one motive is to sexually assault the child. :(

Only 14% of children who have been abducted, and murdered will the suspect be parents or family members. They are the least likely category to ever abduct, and murder the children.

Imo, I believe since so many seems to be addicted to kiddie 🤬🤬🤬🤬 we will see the age of little victim/s become younger, and younger now. :(

Fly high, and free in Heaven precious Faye!

My prayers are with all who love Faye. They will always have a huge hole in their hearts than will never heal nor can be filled.

He was named last night in this thread but I won't repeat it. The shocking thing was it being just a random neighbor. Those are the perpetrators that upset me the most, the ones that are the hardest to protect your children from.
