She seems to have an address in Ash, NC, which is indeed in Brunswick County. So as you my understanding is that she was visiting someone in SC.

I couldn't find any records on her in South Carolina - but in NORTH Carolina, I found some family court records that raised a couple questions though it was LONG ago. She was the defendant in a case in an adoption proceeding back in 1997. Petitioners, a couple, share her last name in the court records. Adoption decree was granted in 1998. She would have been a minor then, so don't know what happened. Did she have a baby as a young teen and another family member was petitioning to adopt it? Was she a relative, perhaps who lost her parents, and was being adopted? Was she a foster child being adopted (one of the parties, though I can't link per the rules, was active in foster/adoption of many children if you find their obituary).

Being a minor at the time, there's not much I could find other than basic court case info on that adoption. (Case No. 97SP001481-400) There was also what appears to be some routine estate proceedings where she (and quite a few others) are named in the estate of someone bearing the same name as the male member of the party of two named as petitioners for the adoption, who passed away in 2007. Quite a few court records for a Heather Collins in North Carolina, pretty much family court, divorce and alimony type records but they don't list a date of birth so can't confirm it's her. One listed with her full name was an older speeding ticket. No Date of Birth. So again, not sure. Register of Actions
