What about the Shell across 501 on River Oaks? The IHOP is open 24 hours, but that wouldn't be quick.

There are def gators in the Waccamaw River. I'm not really familiar with gator activity in winter months, but year round... they don't generally mess with people unless they're messed with themselves. It just worries me (& is probably why LE feels an urgency to search these waters thoroughly) because IF something happened to her & they used this location as a dumping place, she might never be found if gators find her first.

I just think back to Pee Wee Gaskins (who was a serial killer in this area in the 60's & 70's) and how he would dump bodies in nearby rivers and swamps... most of which were people who were never found. I just pray and hope to God LE is right when they said there's no indication she went near the water & they're just searching it as a precaution.

Your very right and I agree!! I remember the gaskins story all too well. And these recent abductions and murders have been far too close to home.

What a scary thought to know we are no more safe in the next minute than they are at this moment

JMHO.. If HE's vehicle was immediately released without being processed. This is an indication of a shabby investigation, imo. LE did not initially take her disappearance very serious, imo.
Given that there were three unsolved missing persons cases from the area already, the response should have been priority. Response time by LE is very critical in missing persons cases..
The #1 rule in Public Safety is 'plan for the worse & pray for the best'...

No. Not really, that's usually done on the waterway and the water is too cold for water sports without a wetsuit this time of year IMO.

Upstream there was mention about an unknown number on her cellphone records as her last phone call, that LE is checking into....is this confirmed or rumor, the "unknown number", I wonder...wondering what LE has found out about that phone call, if its true.

Hoping LE will have a PC soon!

Maybe no relation but check out the amber berbiglia story another recent murder in north myrtle. These have hit far to close to home with me but it should be considered as rated as well.

back in 09 someone I knew was missing for 1 night, we called 911. they said that it takes 48 after they last hear of a person before they can claim them as missing. on the 19th as far as the cops were concerned there was no legal reason to investigate further.

Volunteers plan to continue during the weekend combing the Socastee area in their search for Heather Elvis, which already has lasted more than a week.

The 20-year-old was reported missing Dec. 19 after her car was found abandoned at Peachtree Landing.

As of Friday the search had turned up nothing new, according to Monica Caison, director of the Center for Missing Persons or CUE, which leads volunteer search efforts.

However, the reward for information leading to finding Elvis jumped from $10,000 to $20,000 on Friday.

CUE members and the nicest people ; Doug and Mary Lyall, Suzanne's parents championed the Federal Suzanne's Law. The Lyalls are also responsible for initiating the missing person inmate poker card program. The cards have the pic & info of a missing/murdered person on them & are donated to inmates for tips that have led to many cold cases being solved in the US.

Yea not the river. People may jet ski certain areas of the waterway but not the river

I believe it will turn out to be someone she knew. If it were someone transient they wouldn't know about Peachtree Landing. I don't think there is signage up indicating there is a boat ramp there, correct me if I'm wrong.

I use the google map app on my iPhone and often use the satellite images to get an aerial view of where I am. Whether it's camping and looking for trails or just scoping out a new city. Nowhere is too remote or hard to find anymore. Satellites have changed the way we see the world.

I use the google map app on my iPhone and often use the satellite images to get an aerial view of where I am. Whether it's camping and look for trails or just scoping out a new city. Nowhere is to remote are hard to find anymore. Satellites have changed the way we see the world.

A couple people who worked with her at House of Blues had posted on FB. Also, she was working there as late as this past summer from what she posted on social media, can't remember which site I read it on.
