JMO before people jump on me - in this case (and others) it seems that information which could be helpful or pertinent in finding HE or at least come some way in explaining what has happened to her is being withheld by friends and/or family for fear of tarnishing her name.
The whole OM thing, for instance, only came to light because of other people

I agree and this is not the first case where this has happened. The victim's life, i.e "victimology" is one of the most important factors in a missing persons or murder case. If they were aware of this guy, hoping they at least told LE right away. Also, since her dad has her phone account, he should be able to see if she was in regular contact with him all along or if that call came out of nowhere.

But it is a mistake to thinks things will stay hidden or secret in a case with so much publicity. JMO

While I understand not wanting to tarnish the public image of any missing person, no matter what lifestyle they lead, they deserve to be found...and making their true habits known could help locate them. I would be more than willing to dish the dirt and worry about damage control later.

Re: Fingerprints

I was told, according to one of the HCPD fingerprint techs that fingerprints on a vehicle exposed to the elements (ie. On a door handle, glass, steering wheel) particularly sun, they degrade due to exposure (all do actually) and a print in a closed area ie glove compartment lasts a bit longer. But the problem still is how long HE's car sat there. Most would have already been partially degraded. :( of course... sometimes a partial is all you need. :please:

The car couldn't have been there more than 36-40 hours. I think forensics would still be available, have seen cars tested much, much later and clues found.

Why do you think this all came to light because of other people? I mean law enforcement talked to friends and family from the very beginning right? The room mate, the date, the ex, om. I don't see any of them keeping info from law enforcement and that's what matters imo.

South Carolina :The only place where you can wear a coat / gloves and shorts/flip flops in the same week, lol

Not the only place...LOL! I live in VA and on Monday it was warm enough for me to run outside in a tshirt (55 degrees). However Tuesday on out it has been freezing! When I drove to work yesterday the car said is -5 degrees. So I've been bundled up since Tuesday...crazy weather! Mother Nature is bipolar!

(snip)
MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) -
Friends, family and complete strangers all gathered Thursday night for one purpose: to pray for the safe return of Heather Elvis.

(snip)
It was an emotional ceremony, especially for the Elvis family.

Close family friend Matt Stoddard says at this point, their faith is the only thing that keeps them going.

"You've got to hold onto your faith," Stoddard said. "If you lose your faith through all of this, you're going to lose who you are, and losing who you are is not going to help bring Heather home."

(snip)
But Thursday night wasn't about the search.

It was about a community coming together in a time of need.

"To show the family that, you know, we are here and we are trying to help you, and we want to bring Heather home," Stoddard said.

(snip)
The CUE Center for Missing Persons plans to continue its searches over the weekend.

There's a $30,000 reward for any information that leads to closure in Elvis' case.

Anyone with information is asked to call (843)915-TIPS.

“There are still tips we’re waiting to come in,” Debbi Elvis said. “There’s still information we don’t have from people that might have been with or her seen her even two weeks prior to her missing waiting for the tip that is going to break this case.”

I thought the BBM part was interesting.

Oh for sure! I think that was a message to someone, reminding them those 2 weeks are being looked into, as if they shouldn't already be aware, that everything is being scrutinized about their travel, phone calls, meet ups, jobs.

I would think if family and/or friends were keeping anything from LE that by now they would be telling them everything. I say they'd only keep it for a day or so thinking she may have just went somewhere they didn't know about and be back. I really believe that LE is keeping some info out of the public to help their case. I can't imagine a loved one holding back something that may make her look bad if it could be the key to finding her. IMO anyone who isn't telling LE everything and anything they know about Heather became an instant POI without LE coming out publicly and saying so.

I don't think Heather would be wearing a hat on a first date. It was a night time date and from what we heard about it the hat doesnt really fit with what they did. And for what it's worth I don't think she ran away. She seems to be one who lives her day out on SM. I would think she would be checking out Facebook and Twitter (from a different login) and I can't imagine she would willing put her friends and family through this-especially her younger sister.

If LE were delving into someone's facebook page would facebook remove the page or keep it up, anyone know how that works?

And two weeks prior would be about the time period that Heather moved into her condo.

IMOO.

Unless they are an adult and left free willing, then maybe they don't want to be found. I posted yesterday about someone the same age as HE who left four months ago and just contacted his family, saying he was fine and well. It is a tough spot to be in because as the family, you may not know if there was a crime or if they left on their own in some cases. Just like this one. And even if I knew my child left, I would still want to find them.

Her parents can tell by her phone log who she was talking to on a regular basis...now that they know who that last call(s) involved.

Am I correct in thinking that the ONLY person LE has come out publicly to say is cleared is the entity on the PR that is reported to have taken Heather on a date the night/day she went missing?
LE has not publicly stated that anyone else has been cleared, right?
Or have they?
I'm asking because this is all I've seen reported from LE.

I was more referring to parents/friends who would withhold not-so-pleasant info to protect their loved one. They don't know if she left willing, so withholding info could potentially put off finding the person OR determining if they left on their own volition.

I really don't know, bestill. One of the Boston Marathon bombers FB page was removed....I can't recall if Tamerlyn or Jhokar. His friends list increased rapidly when his name became public and it was removed within a couple hours.

Some LEA's may leave it alone and watch for any activity. Maybe one of our verified LEOs will weigh in on this question. hint....

Oh, I wasn't thinking/talking about a call log when I mentioned 2 weeks prior was when Heather moved in her apartment.
Maybe Heather had help moving into her condo? Maybe someone saw who helped her? Were there people loitering around on her move in day, etc.
Anything unusual happening around her move in day where she lives, etc.
IMOO.

And yet, all of her family have mentioned how the horrible gossip is so hurtful...so if one did not already happen to read about it, it might make one google for it. In a way, they are bringing more attention to some of the nasty posts out there, albeit inadvertently I am sure. JMO

I know...was just adding that since they would now know if, for example, two weeks before is when a certain person reconnected with her.
