I just wanted to take a minute to say...
I'm SO glad I stumbled upon this forum. I'm honestly learning so much from ALL of you. I've been shown helpful tools that I never knew existed like Google Cache, PeopleBrowsr, and Pipl. You've challenged me to think of situations I hadn't considered before, to be more open-minded, and to see things in a different light. But, more importantly, you've welcomed my opinions and thoughts and made me feel like I'm a part of something important... like a member of a community working together for the greater good... like my very own secret sleuthing society! And, for that, I thank you guys.

I've spent so much time around here lately that I've even started speaking in WS slang IRL. A co-worker was talking to me at work the other day, via IM, and asked if I had heard anything new about the case. Somewhere in the conversation, I mentioned something about LE and "old married man" and she was like... just how old IS this man?? I thought he was in his 30's? And who is LE? I just had to laugh. I'll also find myself mentioning you guys to my boyfriend. I'll say something like "CarolinaAsh said she saw a command post set up on Tidewater" and he'll be like who is CarolinaAsh?" (PS. I don't know if CarolinaAsh actually said that; I'm just using it as an example.) Point being, I feel like I know y'all!

I know this case is extremely frustrating (at least, it is to me) because it feels like we're grasping for straws. We are all here for the same reason--to help. But when you combine all of the conflicting information regarding the times/dates reported, rampant rumors, inconsistencies between news articles, inaccurate information listed on the police report, the obstruction of justice thing, and the lack of information offered to the public by LE, it's extremely difficult (I think) to decipher fact from fiction. And, because of that, I personally welcome any and all theories/ideas. Who knows where any one of them might lead?

I hope LE solves the pieces to this very complex puzzle soon! And, if and when that happens, I hope to stick around and contribute to other missing person cases. I just felt it was important to let each of you know that you're appreciated, and I'm honored to bounce around ideas with all of you! :)

Welcome and thanks for joining us. My thoughts are with you all, I hope Heather is found soon.

Do you know anything about the two arrested today? As I understand it, William Barrett is a friend of the family, is that correct? What about the other?

Yes, Bill is a friend of the family. Good guy. He's been a bulldog so to speak for the family. I'm not sure where he gets his energy or the number of hours he's worked on the case. I almost kinda pictured him as a sort of PI for the family, doing things or investigating things that the family themselves couldnt or didn't want to. While I don't know anything about what caused him to be arrested, he was instrumental in alot of the things that have garnered so much local media attention such as the "tip tents" and rounding up volunteers for searches and flyer distribution etc. I was shocked at the arrests much like everyone else. For what it's worth...even being a friend i've been a bit dismayed by the "circus" things have been allowed to become.

I don't personally know Garrett other than he was organizing searches for the past week or two outside of LE and CUE stating that "no searches were being planned" for such and such week. I saw the post in question which i believe probably got the charges leveled, but can't say much about the post because I couldn't for the life of me see who that post either helped or hurt. It honestly didn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

I don't know to what extent we can discuss GS or his posts...but I know he was adding to or encouraging a certain other poster a few weeks ago with what seems to have been bad info and harsh accusations...jmo
(mods-sorry...this is even more confusing now that things posted "over there" have become arrest-worthy :(. )

This is a very sweet post. You will find yourself addicted, waking early to get up and check on a case.
The people here are wonderful. I learn so much everyday here at Websleuths.

On occasion, I have caught myself saying “In My Opinion” at the end of a sentence.:floorlaugh:

I am glad you are here. Welcome aboard!

It wouldn't surprise me if LE sees all the shenanigans happening in this case, and won't hold a PC because there's a good chance it will increase the amount of media/public interest in the case, therefore making it even more of a circus.

Or the opposite so they can halt any more shenanigans and reassure the community that they have full control of the investigation.

I think the post hurt the entire investigation. Time dedicated to finding Heather was wasted elsewhere. She deserves so much more.
For clarification--I'm referring to whatever false screenshots or misleading information was purposely put out there.

Sorry but you ARE confusing the two. Wordpress.com blogs don't have FTP access for ANYTHING. You can't update the Wordpress Core on a wordpress.com blog. The article you provided is talking about a self-hosted WordPress installation which is different than a wordpress.com blog.

whatever, the INTENT of my post was to make ppl aware of inherent insecurities when inexperienced people in important areas try to run one and the various problems you could run into like accessing important docs,etc..
I don't claim to be an authority-just pointing out this could hurt attempts/investigations at finding Heather.
Let's find Heather soon!

I think we all need to get over the latest news (or distraction if you will) fairly quickly and get back to the matter at hand — finding Heather.

As much as I love controversy, there's really nothing productive that I can see coming from yesterday's "side show". I would only hope that things tighten up a lot more than they have been and that we can all move past this without clouding our focus.

I think that today's arrests certainly do complicate things. Hopefully, proper focus will soon be restored. This is an emotionally charged case, and though I don't believe in breaking laws, I can understand people becoming passionate about finding Heather. From the beginning, I was surprised to see that tips were allowed to be received via Facebook. Right there, the lines of authority or who is in charge were blurred and may have given those collecting tips to feel they could also conduct their own investigation too. I do hope any info they both had will now be very helpful to LE to get this case solved...

My prayers tonight for all families of missing loved ones, South Carolina and beyond.

I personally think any and all tips received via a "tip tent" should go directly to LE and not be reviewed by anyone else. I would hate to think others individuals are reviewing tips in hopes that they can collect any reward.

In addition, I think "ALL TIPS or INFORMATION that needs to be sent by email" should be sent to LE only.

Agree...or certain tips weeded out because they may not be deemed worthy enough or may point in a direction the "tip takers" don't want. Since there is no POI, if something happened, and it has been said by the family they suspect it was someone she knew, shouldn't the tips, not be collected by people she knew?!

I have felt this way since day one.
Don't know what to make of that.

I think some blame has to be attributed to those who are running that web page. They have the power to control what gets posted and who post.

Yes, yes, yes.

I'm just catching up and wow what an evening!

One question: where is Heather?

Two observations:
1-these arrests do not help find Heather. They do the opposite--distract from the mission. ETA: the fault lies solely with the two men charged.
2-I'm positive a few defense attorneys went to sleep with a big ol' smile on their face tonight.

Where is Heather?

The report is all over the place, and specific times are missing. Other redacted portions have specific times.

I think between going to TE's house and leaving the landing (Terry said they were there an hour), that TE call BW and she told him Heather had gone on a date. So that tidbit was put there in the report. Then TE talked to the date after leaving the landing, and he then called LE and gave the date info, and it was put in at the same place in the report.

That's just moo and idea of how it could have been written.

I'm hours (per time of posts) behind. Truly I'm going nuts reading because I could swear DE knew all about the date from the time HE had picked up the mail on Tuesday. [modsnip]

Where should I go to see what I've missed? crud.
