It is still pretty dark at 6:00am this time of year, right?

Here is the Sunrise + Sunset times for Dec 18th in Myrtle Beach. But we have to remember that at Sunrise, you can begin to see light even before official sunrise (maybe 20 minutes or so before would be my guess). So I think at 6 AM , YES, i am guessing it would be quite dark since it got official sunrise at 7:15 AM.

Dec 18

Twi: 6:47am
Sunrise: 7:15am
Sunset: 5:10pm
Twi: 5:37pm

December 18th 2013 - Sunrise

Nautical twilight - 6:15 am

The horizon is well defined and the outline of objects might be visible without artificial light. Ordinary outdoor activities are not possible at this time without extra illumination.

Civil twilight - 6:46 am

The horizon should be clearly defined and the brightest stars should be visible under good atmospheric conditions (i.e. no moonlight, or other lights). One still should be able to carry on ordinary outdoor activities.

Full Event - 7:14 am

I didn't see your post. Sorry.

Looks like even the sun's timeline has inconsistencies!

yes. You would have to be very quiet because that mobile home park is close.

I never really believed that LE made a mistake in accidentally released the non-redacted PR. They have been really silent until this news update. They basically indicated they have a POI IMO, which I was very surprised and wonder why, because I found it very unusual. It makes me think that person has lawyered up or is no longer cooperating, so I speculate they are applying pressure and letting the bus roll & the gloves are off (as best they can).

I ask this because I don't know the answer with any certainty.

Is there a reason you don't think LE "made a mistake in accidentally" releasing the non-redacted report?

If you have a link or source I would love to see it because I have never read anything about where it came from. TIA

Actually, our times are very close and only 1 minute apart. Yours provided an extra "Nautical Twilight" which is what I was wondering about. The Civil Twilight is what I think as being able to see pretty good even before sunrise, but the Nautical Twilight is where you can barely see outlines of things.

We were consistent that at 6 AM, it would be very dark with basically no light at all yet.

Also of note -

There was a full moon the night of the 17th and 18th. The light of the moon is not considered when determining twilight or sunrise times. The times are determined by the position of the sun only.

Not sure, I believe the link was provided by the Horry News (I think it is) and it was available for a short period of time before it was replaced. It is too big of an error IMO not to be on purpose, also I don't remember LE explaining, apologizing or downplaying the contents if for instance it was old information. Hmmmm...however wasn't it very shortly after that they cleared the date?

I was under the impression no one lived in those mobile homes at the landing, but I could definitely be wrong about that.

It was the Horry News, and it was redacted, only incorrectly so the redacted portions were still viewable by copying and pasting. I think it was done unintentionally.

I'm not sure. That's why I asked. I read the "MYHorryNews" redacted one in PDF on their site, but never saw any reference there to the non-redacted one, until bits of it came out in news stories, quoting the non-redacted parts, but not ever referring to the complete report.

I have read it, but not in official p.r. form. Maybe it was only up for a few hours. I could have easily missed it.

My impression has been it was not released by LE, simply because of what was NOT redacted, like all the addresses and phone numbers.

I have the original one that you can copy and paste and read the redacted parts. The final pages do have the phone numbers and addresses showing, but parts of the text are redacted, yet still viewable by copying and pasting. It is the pdf file that was incorrectly, and also not fully redacted.

Yes, right. I think it was unintentional that it could be seen by copying and pasting, but what I thought was strange was what was not even attempted to be redacted, i.e., a lot of personal information.

Why wouldn't LE have blocked out all that? That's why I think it was released by someone other than LE. That's why I was trying to find a link, if there was one, about who released this report initially, and which one was the first.

Thats another good point about the moon.

A full moon can be very helpful to see. From past experience, it seems like the moon helps more from around Midnight to 3-4 AM because I think the moon seems brightest then and it eventually moves across the sky and falls away.

I tried to find the moonrise/set times and found a carolina location called Columbia for Dec 18th and it shows a MOONSET at 8 AM so maybe the moon really could have helped that particular day all the way till sunrise.

Hmmmm. Interesting.

I had a fleeting thought.

Wouldnt it be interesting if a certain love interest happened to squirrel away a momento of their younger love interest. Something to reflect on. Something small and easy to hide like a Keyring item perhaps.

Maybe that would turn up sometime?

This is from 2008, so I don't know if anything has changed since.
For South Carolina:
"Information regarding victims of crime may be redacted from police reports if the release of the information would endanger the life, health or property of any person.
S.C. Code Ann. § 30-4-40(a)(3)(D)."

And if I recall correctly, it was released on **someone's** birthday & there was a lot of chatter about that!

Map/pic of Peachtree Landing: http://bit.ly/M0DhBc

Here is a map/picture of Peachtree Landing and WYSIWYG - no boat storage - just a paved ramp and paved parking lot. A very small mobile home park is up a steep hill on the left. It looks barren because it is barren, and remote, and unlit except by the moon. Only has one small, two-lane road in and out. And in the middle of Nothing. Only locals would know it. All MOO except the map link.

I meant going upriver or downriver from PTL-Imagine loading a body in a remote landing & taking it via boat to a storage facility accessed by boat. This might mean you can safely transport a body XX distance without attracting too much attention?? Like at 6AM when other fishermen might be around??I hear that fishing is good with a full moon.

I don't know the area but heard it mentioned earlier..where is this Boathouse??I've also heard some houses/condos have waterway access?:moo:

Good point. So would that make it less likely LE gave it to "MY Horry News"?

I've found the PR w/phone #'s available on the web as of a few days ago. Not sure the site-think it was some kind of lady investigator??
I don't do Facebook so I was originally unsure what parts were redacted. I also didn't catch myhorry in time b4 pulled...
