Well, her dad revealed info about the phone log on the show.

Didn't we read somewhere that her LAST phone ping was at the landing where her car was found? When her Dad tried to call her the phone went to voicemail, but her phone wasn't at the landing. Does that mean her phone was shut off or battery out? Would the phone still go to voicemail?

Do criminals really underestimate the power of the ping?

That said, an "in the know" or halfway intelligent criminal could certainly use it to their advantage.

I think it partly depends if crime was planned or spur of the moment...if planned, they may have thought about these things and not brought their phone, or taken a different phone, or removed battery. JMO if not planned, more likely to forget about phone and pings.

I do not think we read that. Not officially...

If my phone is shut off or the battery is out, it goes right to voice mail...no ringing. Same with my husband who has a different brand of phone.

I would want to see if there was anyone who liked Heather more than she liked them - male or female. With the altercations, relationship she had, it would be the perfect crime to commit while others would be put under the microscope and possibly take the fall due to all the circumstantial evidence.

Had Heather rejected someone recently - again, male or female - due to the “joke” on SM maybe she rejected someone who became furious if they were not out of the closet yet.

I would look at any pictures people can offer with Heather in them, study the background people, see if there is someone “eyeing her” quietly in the background.

I would look at all the people who knew of the relationship.

I would want to know who else her guy was seeing?

I would look for a motive. Why is Heather a victim? Jealousy is most probable.
People can be silently jealous and unassuming.

Just a few thoughts in order to keep an open mind!

The search focus has been in Myrtle Beach. I wonder if it needs to be expanded along I95?

Someone mentioned searching route to Florida since she mentioned wanting to be in FL on SM. Maybe she was tricked into thinking she was headed to FL with someone on the spur of the moment and things went downhill from there.

Yes, at that age, some have been known to leave for FL without packing, just a spur of the moment trip with very little money. I know I did when I was her age. Had many friends that would drop everything and go … spur of the moment, fun, exciting!

If I did it now, I would be prepared. I would pack a bag, bring money, have a cell phone, have a plan. There are a lot of things I did when I was younger...I'm lucky I'm still here to talk about them!

I remember in college one night I was VERY intoxicated. A guy from my school drove me home. To this day I have no idea who he was. Thank God he was a stand up guy. All he did was drop me at my front door. That could have been a very bad situation.

Has anyone done a Google Earth view noting where she lived, where her parents house is, where she went on a date and where the car was found, along with anything else important? The reason for this is I am looking for points of egress to major highways, woodlands, features that would hide a body etc... Back in the 70's and 80's we did this with Topographic Quad Maps. Google earth really gives me a good overall view.

If no one has done one, I will make an attempt when I have a few minutes.
