When I called the number a poster gave for Silver Alert it turned out to be part of our State Law Enforcement.they had received the info on Johnny but had not received a request to become involved .The woman I spoke with chose her words very carefully .She said MBPD would need to make that request .I asked if the family could insist .They could request but it would be up to MBPD.
Is it possible that they thought you were talking about a program that was not a part of LE?
Shortly after I made that call, Julie told me the MBPO's handling Johnny's case told her I was undermining them .I assumed it was related to the call to SLED/SilverAlert .When I made the call I had no idea the Silver Alert Program was part of Law Enforcement .
I've put up and passed out flyers and Asked people at places where Johnny was believed to be , if they have seen him .For the ones that had , I asked them to call the police and let them know .For those willing to keep an eye out I asked them to call the police or his sister , as she requested,if they saw him .

Not sure what I did to upset the police ,but it won't happen again .

Just want to give a shout-out to MissJames, Peekerfoo, and all of the faithful others who have been praying and looking for Johnny. DO NOT GIVE UP!!!! It is sometimes frustrating when the agencies that are involved do not seem to be as interested as we are. It is frustrating when the family may not appear to be as invested as we would be if we were the family members. The fact of the matter is, that LE is on the job, and they are doing their thing. (Sometimes, that isn't enough... the public's help is FREQUENTLY what helps solve a case). My family were very private people, and they were very proud people. They would never have asked anyone for help with anything. As a child, growing up, you either survived the illness and/or herbal treatment from Grandma, or you died. That was just life. What I am saying is, I do not know Johnny's family, so I cannot predict how they would handle the situation they find theirselves in. I do believe they care about Johnny, but help may make them uncomfortable - it would have made my family uncomfortable on the surface.... deep down, they would have been VERY thankful because they would not have had a clue what to do in a situation like this. When I got off work tonight, I went to a grocery store frequented by the homeless and other lost souls and drove around until I found a parking space where I could safely "observe" the people loitering. I did not see Johnny. Guess I will go back tomorrow. We cannot give up until he is home.

You are so kind to offer your help to Johnny's family, Nonni Brenda. I think that after hearing from Miss James about the "undermining" thing that I may s just stick to my usual routine of searching and expand southward. I have flyers I can put up, too. I have a packet of things for Julie, but I really don't want to bother her if she feels this is being handled by whomever. I am glad that CUE is here. When I spoke with Monica she was very willing to come as soon as she could, so that made me feel better. It sounds like the media is finally getting back on the story. I think we should just wait until we are asked for our help at this point. I got the OK on the flyers, but I have no problem leaving the searching to the professionals. I feel like all the work that Miss James, Nosys,OLG, you and others have done is well beyond the call of duty. Y'all got the ball rolling and now all we can do is keep an eye out and trust that LE or Cue will find him. The lady I spoke with at the MBPD said that the liason working with the family is terrific at her job. I will do whatever I'm asked to do and I know you will,
too!

Wow! In all my conversations With JBs sister , I had no idea there was a police liaison working with the family .That would have been good to know when we were up there .

I hope they are having some success this weekend .Being Labor Day weekend MB will be packed and the police will be pretty busy .

You're probably right Peekerfoo. I have so many health problems myself and would be traveling alone. I was hoping, as I told Julie, that some of her family could ride with me, maybe her mom since her health is not good, and it would be better for her to ride in the car with me instead of a van with 16 people. I'm wondering myself why the number of family going is changing. I'm guessing some are saying they will go help, then when time comes they have changed their minds. That is a puzzle for me??? I've got kidney surgery next week. Getting ready for that today at the hospital...Just trying to do all I can.

I am truly glad that you aren't making the trip here because it's a long drive, and I was worried about your health. You're generous person to even think about coming all this way and have Julie's mom ride with you! I believe that you can do more by being our ears and eyes in GA (just incase Johnny somehow makes his way home). Have your local newspapers been running stories on him?

Like I said, the MBPD told me that the family's liason is very good at her job, so I am confident that if they need help they'll ask for it. Undermining the police is the last thing on anyone's mind here! We all just want to help a lost man find his way home. I have never seen "undermining" as a synonym for "help", but apparently it is here.

Thank you for those words of wisdom and Thank you for patiently looking .

We haven't given up and I can see now that MBPD IS doing what they can . I've said many times , we don't know what they know . The more I learn about this search , the more I realize ,I don't know much: )

The liason was never mentioned to me either. I'm glad they have one because I imagined them just floundering around, not knowing what to do or where to go.

Thank you SunVenus...I agree wholeheartedly!

You know what brings tears to my eyes this night while reading the last two pages of this thread?

'tis the joy, admiration, and respect I have for the many of you who are doing all you can to find Johnny! And how generous you are, to dedicate your time and energies, even when your personal lives and health issues are demanding attention.

Exemplary response! This is how it should be but sadly often is not.

Thanks button just isn't enough for you heroes...Bravo, kudos, and all good wishes for the best outcome soon!

Honestly , it's because of Websleuths and all I have learned here . This forum is an amazing goldmine of information and those of us who spend a good deal of time here have received a great education .

I think there should be an exam and a diploma . Bachelors,Masters and Doctorate.
Instead of Moderators and Admin they should be called Professors and Chancellors .Just hope they don't take off for spelling .

Johnny and every other missing person is given a much greater chance to be found because of Websleuths .
Even defense lawyers have discovered the very smart posters here ; (

And then there are the friendships made ....

I agree! I'm not giving up either! I will keep looking and posting flyers. I plan to concentrate on the area from here to Georgetown and you have south of there covered. I think we are within our rights to do those things according to the SPD. Both the MBPD and SPD seemed open to any help they can get and the SPD even made the flyers for me while I was there. I guess that's about all we can do.... You have been a hero in this search and I don't ever want anyone to make you think otherwise!!!

Still no word from Julia. Debating on whether or not to call her. Don't want to show down the search with phone calls. Guess I'll just be as patient as possible, which isn't my strong suite...

On my first trip to Myrtle Beach I was met at the police Dept .
To get flyers ,also .I did put "special needs" in big letters under "missing man" . They were very kind and grateful when I was there .

They are keeping the peace in a huge area full of tourists who are often rowdy .
I hope this is the day. Johnny is found .
Thanks for all the "boots on the ground" up there.

It might help others who are in the area willing to help , to know what is going on .

Thanks Peekerfoo for saying that. I just feel like I should be doing something. I did go to the Waffle House this morning, just in case he had gotten back to Cartersville. They remember him well there, but have not seen or heard from him. I guess we just have to trust those in charge to do their job, and like you say, looks like they are doing what they can.

Hi Reannan, I understand what you are saying about pride, and appreciation. I have gotten to know Johnny's family somewhat through all this. They seem to me a very humble family. I know they do appreciate all the help everyone is giving. My gut feeling is that they don't want to put others out, my words not theirs. They seem to be the kind of people that would never want to be a burden or bother to anyone else. This is just a feeling I get from them. They are also a family of very strong faith in God, and know that He is the one that will ultimately bring Johnny home. Mr. Brown is a Baptist minister, and every time I go to see them, he has everyone hold hands while he prays. He is such a very precious man. He prays for each of us helping, prays for our safety, and prays for our families too. He is such a strong man because of his faith. I am blessed to have met him and his family.

How awesome that Johnny has such wonderful parents .I hope I get to meet them .I spoke to Mrs .Brown on the phone and you could just hear her broken heart .
When my son died he had just turned 15 and the hardest thing was not being able to "mother" him .I knew where he was and have Faith , but the need to know what your child is doing ,is he safe and is he happy ? I'm telling Y'all in my crazed mind back then , I felt he still needed me .
He was with God and I still thought he needed ME!
So I can only imagine how Mrs. Brown is feeling right now .It's for her, more than anything ,that took me to Myrtle Beach .

I just left a voice mail for Julie. Told her we were thinking of them and praying for them. Hoping the search is being productive. Apologized if I interrupted the search. Told her if there is anything we can do where we are to call and I will get the word out to everyone, but not to interrupt the search just to talk to us. I'll just wait for her call if she needs anything. Wanted to give you all an update.

MissJames, I am so sorry for what you went through. The loss of a child has got to be the absolute worst thing to have to endure. I think all mothers, most anyway, have an unspoken bond that doesn't need words. We all are one, when it comes to our children. It seems all mothers can communicate without saying anything. We truly are the same. I also think women in general have that kind of communication. It's hard to explain what I am trying to say...
Hope you are feeling better and have rested up some since you got home from MB. How are you feeling?:blowkiss:

Just wanted to say I have been "lurking" on this thread for a little while now. I agree with the poster that talked about how her family was just private and didn't ask for help. From reading here, I feel like Johnny's family is just not the type to ask for help.. However, I'm sure they appreciate it to their core!!
I just wanted to speak up and say ALL OF YOU WORKING TO FIND JOHNNY ARE FREAKIN' AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God bless each of you for what you are doing and for what has happened in your lives to bring you here... To Johnny!!! I have Johnny and his family in my prayers and I thank God for you good people!!! You are truly Angels Among Us!!!!!!!!! Keep on keepin' on!!!!!

There are miracles and I have absolute hope that Johnny will be found!

Here is a story about a disabled man that went missing near me. He was found in only one day, but he was found 4 hours away (over 200 miles). I can't imagine who gave him a ride?!

UT UT - Carl Edward Linker, 20, Spanish Fork, UT - SEVERELY HANDICAPPED - 08-30-2012 - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

I agree Johnny will be found!

Johnny was actually picked up by the Georgetown police the first night he was missing .Julie mentioned he got a taxi at some point so I believe that's how he got so far from Family Kingdom and his hotel in Myrtle Beach.

That may be true to some extent , especially for the parents , but Johnny's sister hasn't shown any reluctance in giving me lists of people to call or places to search .

There are some things only the family can do ,though .I hope they can take Johnny home this weekend and Rubypop and the Rev can rest .
She seemed grateful to have someone to delegate to , which is why all of us offered in the first place
