I have been very concerned that Johnny may have been taken advantage of- something as simple as a mugging (very common in the area)- is easier accomplished when the victim has special needs. And those folks don't need any extra help with targeting. It is truly a double edged sword.

I think at this point though, Johnny likely doesn't have any money left on him. Which brings me to another question- does anyone know what Johnny's understanding of money is? Does he know what things cost?

Also re: celebrities who may be willing to speak up for him... I have the good fortune to know Tom Hanks. I will give it a shot.

I agree, if Johnny had any money originally, it's probably gone now. I so hope and pray that he is finding food somewhere,and someone is taking care of him.

ITA! Johnny is in Namus, but there's not much about him on his file.
I even considered putting up some flyers that were aimed directly at him.
Like:

JOHNNY LAMAR BROWN!
Julie and Ruby Pops are trying to find you.
Take this flyer to the nearest store or restaurant and have them call-(phone number)
Blackie misses you!!!

Then have the missing info on the bottom of the page, so wherever he takes it they will know it's legit.

I have also decided to put his missing flyers on the side and back window of my SUV. I drive around so much, I might as well be a moving sign.

Julie said that Johny can read, so maybe a flyer to him personally would help?

Atlanta Police Dept Missing Persons - nothing
Is it family that have to notify these departments?

CUE has a profile on Johnny, his last sighting is stated as 2.30pm 3rd august, what about the CCTV footage viewed by the family, when was that?

Can you please ask her about the facebook page? If they take the emphasis off of donations and make it more about Johnny they may have better results. Things they could add are how he says certain words (like how Julie said he says' "Allanna" for Atlanta) and if he has any mannerisms we should know about. Maybe try and get a better picture of his capabilities? Ask her if he has their phone numbers memorized or were they written somewhere. Most importantly have there been any recent sighting and, if so, where? Is TES going to be involved---when and where? Where is CUE looking now? Does LE want us to stay out of the search for her brother? Any ideas on where to look now.

An update: I tried to call Judge Benham here in Cartersville, he's retired I think, not at the court house anymore. I lw on his home phone. I think it's his.
I also called David with TES, and he called me back immediately. I am really impressed that he has done all he can for now. He said he called MB police, spoke with Diane Pritrese, he thinks she is the LT. She recommended he not come at that time because CUE is there, ad not good to have too many search teams at one time. Too much confusion. He said he did go on "Map Measure" and mapped out a route they would take to search on foot and with ATV's and along side the roads and sent photos to Diane with LE to help them. That was about a wk ago. He said that the most helpful person there probably would be Breanna with Ch 15 or 13?? that she was very interested in Johnny. He gave me her contact number, I'm about to call her now. anything you all can think of to tell/ask her? He did suggest that Julie or LE need to check the mental wards, Psychiactric hosp. He said there isn't much he can do being 12 hrs away, but wishes us the best of luck. OH, and BTW, he, and his group read here on Websleuths.com. I told him how much we appreciate TES and all they do. He said they appreciate us too, and to keep up the good work we are doing. Now, I need 2 lists, what to say to Breanna, and what to tell the local people I am trying to solicit help form. I'm afraid I will leave something out.
One more thing, I don't know an easy way to say this, if someone is lost here and not bound, it can be very brutal and tragic. Sorry but fe\lt like I should tell you.

Everything you have done has been with the absolute best of intentions, I feel sorry that you have gone above and beyond all in good faith and then have had to put up with "that comment".

I honestly cannot see LE being that short sighted, without the public they would struggle to solve many cases in my opinion.

We all appreciate how much pressure the family must be under, but "the more troops the stronger the army" I would have thought, maybe I'm missing something?

I sound like a broken record , but I don't know what the police know or what the family knows . I don't even know if they actually said that .

My concern is , why isn't Johnny a higher priority ? Why didn't Hilton Head LE have Johnnys info to compare with the drowning victim ?
Why don't more people care ?
Is there something we don't know that makes Johnny a low priority for MBPD ?

They may have garnered more media attention on the case .This is the second time MBPD has suggested they not come .

fabgod, I called G.B. I. about missing persons. They said that Cartersville Police have to call them to have someone added. Then they (GBI) will put Johnny on Mattie's Call, which is for disabled or elderly missing persons. I think this needds to come from family to LE here. When I talk to Julie again, I'm gonna light a fire....

I love the idea of personalized fliers for Johnny! It would also personalize him to folks reading the fliers, so they may look for him themselves. The part about Blackie breaks my heart

If it's possible to call Johnny autistic, I think that is better than 'special needs', etc, in a missing person's case. Folks will know he doesn't have psychiatric or substance issues, which helps. He's a middle-aged man -- a Black man -- and we have to get folks past any ideas of toughness or substance-abuse possibilities, etc. It's an awful prejudice, but we do have to face that aspect of things with the population we're trying to target.

I think of him a bit like Rain Man, and folks know Rain Man, so if he's on the autistic spectrum, perhaps we could be more clear about that. If Rain Man were lost in Myrtle Beach, you know folks would feel immediate compassion!

Ask about a Reward Fund, too, please, Nonni Brenda. Tell her CUE should be able to get that set up in no time, or urge her to contact me and I'll help. We have folks who want to donate to it! If folks know he's been sighted in the area and there is a reward for being the one to call cops soon enough, folks might keep a better look out.

The family has not referred to Johnny as Autistic. We really don't know how or if Johnny is disabled beyond a speech impediment. I thought I understood , until I learned he went to Family Kingdom by himself .
Autism is a specific diagnosis . I personally chose special needs based on two things : every person might have a different idea of what autism looks like but special needs covers a multitude of issues .Also ,it might insult the family .The only ok I got for the flyer was special needs and speech impediment .

That's just my opinion .Everyone helping is free to use their own judgement .

I spoke with a Beaufort County Investigator yesterday and they called the family. It was not Johnny.

(oops, I see KDPX already answered this. I will say that I was alarmed that they didn't seem to know anything about Johnny until I called. The description must have been close because they asked me for the family's number and called them. They have identified the man who drowned.)

I'm just hanging out waiting for J to show up. I have about 25 questions, as follows:
Ask about FB page, make it more personal, not just about donations. Who is maintaining FB page? On FB talk about how he says certain words, special mannerisms, his capabilities. Better and more pictures of Johnny.
Does he remember phone numbers or have them written down. Ask why J thinks he has stopped calling, or has he?

what do you think is happing right now? in Cartersville? Atlanta, MB?
anymore sightings you have heard about?
Have you heard from Rev and Rubypop? What are t he doing up there?
Is Cue still looking? where: any leads?
Did LE tell you not to talk to us or not to work with us, exactly what did they tell you to do? do they want you and family to continue to look or come home and stay?
Start a reward fund. Cue can help also Writer has offered to help?
Call Ctsv police and tell them to call GBI and have him added to missing persons. GBi will put him on Mattie's Call list, for disabled and elderly. YOU have to do this.
Where are your friends, church members, is not one helping you and supporting family?
did he have money on him? What instructions did you give him when he left to go to Family KIngdom Where he was allowed to go, how much money to spend?: did you tell hin to come back at certain time. did he have a watch. does he walk around town by himself at home. has he ever gotten lost b4?
What is his concept of money? can he make and count change?
What exactly is his mental functioning? IQ? Has he ever been evaluated/diagnosed? What was that diagnosis, and by whom?
What did you feel was LE's attitude about searhes and search groups?
How capable is Johnny away from family out in the street? Can he walk to get food alone? How often did he go out alone when at home? Any problems then? If so, where did you find him then, and how long was he gone? What has LE told you that we at WS don't know about? What do you think has happened, now that there are no more sightings? Is Johnny on disability? Who is his legal guardian? Can he tell time? Was he wearing a watch/ Does he usually get a taxi by himself here at home? Would he ride with strangers? Hitch hike? has he ever been arrested/ Would his finger prints be in the system? Has he ever been in the hospital? Does he have insurance, or medicaid, medicare? If he needed medical care, how would he/you pay for it?

The family need to see this,
I think Peekerfoo found out Johnny had no tattoos when she was looking into the body in the water a couple of days back but Im not completely sure and the height of this man is put around 6 feet, Johnny according to the various missing websites is anywhere between 5 feet 6 and 5 feet 11.

If Nonni Brenda is here it would be worth pointing the family in this direction
