I have not heard this info before ......

Captain David Knipes, spokesman for the Myrtle Beach Police Department, reports that Johnny Lamar Brown was last seen on Sunday, August 5 in the area of 21st Avenue South near an ice cream shop with a white female.

it would be great if some good Samaritan took him in and he is fed and safe. It would be even better if they called the police.

I have to take a break- will think of more places to email

NonniBrenda ,Thank you so much!

I will admit ,I woke up very down this morning . This could be so simple . If this was an 8 year old that wandered away ,the child would be all over the media and probably found within 24 hours.

Instead this is a man who can't even do what an 8 year old can do,communicate, yet the word is just not getting out .

I thank God for those who have stayed focus on his case and hope they will continue to do so,but it's a drop in the bucket to what needs to happen if Johnny is going to be found soon.

Everyone has such great suggestions ,but when I went to Myrtle Beach and Surfside Beach ,I was overwhelmed at the sheer volume of businesses and people.
It will only take that one person to find him but it will take an army so that one person knows how to help him get home.

I like it ,I just don't know how MBP will respond, only because they have asked Texas Equusearch to hold off .
That is what I was told yesterday by JB's sister who has been talking to TES. I don't know what the reasoning is or how open they will be to other groups.

I'm trying to think like a ten year old. The family's hotel was fairly close to the amusement park. He wouldn't have money to buy a ticket but I wonder if he might stand around and watch the rides?

He sounds like he might have some characteristics like those with autism. Is there something that he is obsessed with or likes a lot that he might be attracted to?

There are lots of tourist attractions in Myrtle Beach. Did the family go to any that Johnny seemed to especially enjoy?

I have tomorrow off from school, I thought I'd head over to the beach and check out the shelters. I'll also print up a bunch of flyers and hang them/hand them out. Sound ok?

Ummm,YEAH! Sounds very okay . :rocker:

I have called the 3 major new channels in Atlanta, 50 mi from here, about running Johnny's story. I also spoke with his sister and offered my help. she wants everyone to know if they see Johnny, he may be afraid of strangers, so it may help to tell him his mom, "Ruby Pop" and his dog "Blackie" is looking for him. I spoke to her also about putting out flyers around her, is case he has worked his way back this far.
I am running out the door now to get to a dr's appt, will check back ltr. Thx

I am getting red flags about this.
Maybe I'm cynical because I worry how someone could use these special names for the wrong reasons. It could get Johnny to let down a natural defense for his own safety. I would rather someone use the word "Cartersville" or "McDonald's" if they are trying to communicate.

I gave out some flyers to people I saw working outside .Landscapers and city workers ,road crews who might see him walking.

Billboards would be a huge help . OLG,could you take down some numbers on available billboards and pm them to me tomorrow?

well ....this little man needs the word out he is missing so people can be alert and not blow him off if he can't communicate with them...
If any one that gets an email does even bother to call MBP for add'l info, then I anticipate MBP should be able to provide them with it in some fashion

I still don't understand why search dogs haven't been brought in...is there something more sinister at play that the public may be unaware of? Why tell TES to hold off...

I think the family probably feels their best chance to find him is to assume people have good intentions and will help johnny. What else is there to do?

Is apathy sinister :waitasec:

I'm sorry y'all .I'm in a cruddy mood . I see my own son's future in Johnny . One day he'll be a black man that acts odd and can't communicate well.

I'm ticked off in general that we didn't hear about this on Aug .4th . Now I shall go cool off and get back to work on this.

I've never been more proud to be a Websleuther ! You guys are the best!

Those could work, too.
I know what you mean .I hesitate to put out anything anyone could use to lure Johnny ,but when you are dealing with someone whose understanding is limited and who may react badly if he is scared ,this may be the only option.

I have a sticker for my car in case we are in an accident .It says my son has autism ,is dev. dis. and may not understand them. I also have one that alerts responders that the dog is a service animal not a pet.
I didn't use it for a long time because it could also alert a Sexual predator my son is easy prey.

The answer was so simple. I put it inside the window by his seat so the info could be seen by any first responder helping him,but not by the general public.
He also wears a medical alert bracelet .
It is hard to take care of our kids. My son will wander out into the pitch black dark ,in his own little word . It really does take a village and WS is our village.

Just want to add the family thought that would be important info ,not just in keeping Johnny calm, but also a confirmation that it IS Johnny.

But this is why we need the professionals in SAR . Maybe it's the wrong thing to do.

Miss James, do you think it would be helpful to have his dog brought down and walked around the areas where he may have been sighted?

I recall one missing kid (younger) with autism and they used his favorite music to draw him out of hiding. I wonder if Johnny has any favorite music, etc that could help?

Yes,I do.

Yesterday JB's sister mentioned trying to get the dog to track ,since the dog is so bonded to Johnny. You really need a trained SAR dog team for that ,but hey ,miracles happen!
I wish the family could be there until he's found but that's expensive .
Cartersville ,GA is north of Atlanta .Not that far but a world away when your child is missing.

I totally hear you on this. I have had to really look long and hard at myself and think "WWYD if you had an interaction with Johnny". Its changed how i will act in the future.

I am still most hopeful that Johnny can be found safe! Perhaps a kind soul is watching out for him, not knowing that his family is desperately searching for him.

Prayers also for MissJames. Please keep up the great work on behalf of this family in anguish!

Thank you,but this has been a team effort. Nonni Brenda,One Lost Girl ,Sreshowtime ,every poster that has come up with ideas, e-mailed organizations on behalf of Johnny.
You give me Faith in my fellow man.
