I gotta tell ya'll, MissJames is such an amazingly dedicated woman. I'm honored to have met her and been able to help search for Johnny with her. If he is found it will be because of her efforts! ♥
Hope you are feeling better today, girl!

I don't doubt it at all. It's hard for me to think of this poor man out there for another, possibly, 10-14 days.

Praying he comes home tonight.

It's still 8 days until Labor Day. The only reason I can think of for TE to push the date further is they have prior commitments, and had promised to be in another area. Still... Johnny needs to be found soon. He may become even more disoriented because of fatigue, hunger, heat, constant wandering around, probably looking for his family. I am really concerned... hoping he will be found soon.
A big thanks to those of you who are in the area and connecting with the family. Big prayers also for them, as I can only imagine the stress they are going through.

Yesterday! That is great. I was afraid he had hitched a ride out of the area. Did you put up fliers at the flea market? Wouldn't it be great if Johnny saw his pic on the flier? He could show it to someone.

Unfortunately with his speach impediment, people may think he is intoxicated if he tries to talk to them.

No one we spoke to thought he was intoxicated and realized he was Developmentally Disabled . That's one of the things that stood out .

Yes,we put up flyers and spoke to all the vendors and some shoppers. Some of the vendors put up the flyers . We talked to the office staff and they have a flyer.
You have to realize that wherever you leave flyers ,most won't put them where they can be seen. It's a blessing that even a few people are willing .

We even put up a flyer where one of the wooded areas starts .It's in the area where he's been sighted and homeless are sometimes known to camp out.
It wasn't pretty ,but we yelled his name and used some of the phrases the family gave us.

Thank you Miss James for all your efforts for Johnny. So close, but he is so vulnerable. Praying he can be reunited with his family soon.

Just curious-
Has a Silver Alert ever been initiated?
Can't any of the other Search and Rescue groups, such as I mentioned upthread , in the area be utilized?

I spoke to a number of Myrtle Beach firemen today...a few knew of him and mentioned seeing him on the news and one remembered seeing the missing flyer in Surfside Beach. I gave them more information about him and they said they will be on the look out. Spoke to people in Walmart in Myrtle Beach (501 where it comes into the city) and one of the women thought he looked familiar. I gave them flyers and they said they would also put him up on the missing board. Will keep on plugging as I'm here...I felt so rude last night out with another couple we met for our anniversary- we sat down outside and all I could do was watch the passersby...just praying to see his face. Did anyone who has seen him mention facial hair? I'm just wondering how different his face may look with a beard/moustache, but also if he does not have one it might indicate he has been to a shelter or something where he might have been able to shave(?)

All the most recent sightings have been in the same general area . Since those who have reported seeing him in that area ,are not related,I have to believe it's probably him.

The fact that the family allowed him to go to Family Kingdom alone means he has a higher skill level than I thought, and that's good news. He must be more capable ,which is a relief.

Something else along those lines, my 15 yr old granddaughter said, b4 Johnny went missing, she has seem him walking around here in Cartersville many times, and he was by himself then too. So maybe he is better able to fend for himself more that we thought originally. This could be very good news.
MissJames, praying you are feeling much better. Hope you are getting some much needed rest today.

I have met his mom and dad, and they have amazing faith that God will take care of Johnny. His dad is a minister, and has unbelievably strong faith. I think that is what is keeping them so strong. They are also uplifted that there has been, and still is so many sightings of him. But I agree that it isn't good for more time to pass.

His sister Julie will be on Tricia's radio show tomorrow. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/websleuths The show normally lasts an hour but will go into the second hour so she can talk to Julie. I just got off the phone with Julie and put together a timeline of the case. Since this is coming from Julie I think this is the most accurate reporting we'll find.

The family arrived at the Seacrest hotel at 803 ocean blvd. on Thursday 8/2/2012. http://www.myrtlebeach-resorts.com/sea-crest/

On Friday at about 3:30pm Johnny said he was going to the “Family Kingdom Amusement Park” which is about two blocks away. He left his wallet and ID, and probably had about $20 on him total and no jewelry.

At 4:30pm the family went to dinner at a restaurant and when they got back they noticed Johnny hadn’t returned. They went looking for him up by the amusement park and continued to drive around looking for him until about 5:30 in the morning. While looking they saw two police officers and stopped them. The family told the officers that Johnny was missing and gave them a description of him and what he was wearing.

On Saturday morning, the 4th, a hotel worker told them that he had been across the street around 5:30pm on Friday. She didn’t know who he was or that he was missing. Johnny had said he was missing his family and went off in the opposite direction of the amusement park. The hotel worker also saw him on her way into work that morning. She told them he was sitting on the curb by a bank.

The family left to look for him and got there about 3:30pm. They stopped into nearby stores to ask about him. They found out he’d been at the BBQ place next to the bank and the BBQ place had fed him at about 12:30pm and they had just missed him by about three hours.

Friday night about 10pm he had been stopped by police in Surfside off the bypass near Georgetown because he was walking alone down the highway. (He had gotten there by taking a cab, but the driver found out he had no money and she wouldn’t take him any farther because she couldn’t understand him, but she didn’t call the cops on him either.) The missing persons report hadn’t gone through yet and they didn’t know about him being lost. He told the police about the Seacrest Hotel and they called the hotel to ask if anyone knew of a worker like him. Nobody knew a worker by that name and were unaware he was missing.

The family looked for him all day Saturday, but since they didn’t know he had gotten a cab the night before, they didn’t go all the way into Surfside.

When the grandkids got home on Sunday they found out he had called on Friday night from a Chic Fil-A, Arby’s and from a couple of cell numbers to his home in Georgia.

On Monday Julie contacted the Myrtle Beach police with the phone numbers he had called from. They tracked one of them to a beach store he had called from on Saturday the 4th about 9am. The family went to the store and ID’d him when they saw the surveillance video. That’s the last reliable sighting they’ve had of him.

There was a sighting on the 13th at Mcdonald’s in Surfside. A woman pulled up to the drivethru window and there was a man standing there at the ordering board, and she didn’t know anything about the case and rolled up windows and drove around. She was a little nervous about him. When she got home she turned on the news and saw a story about him and recognized him immediately. She called the Surfside PD and the police said it’s not their jurisdiction and to call Horry county. She called them but they told her it was Surfside PD she should call. She demanded they check it out, but they appear to have let it go. She called the news and left a message. The next morning she called Julie crying because she felt like she was responsible for not getting him help.

Another sighting was from someone calling from their home who had returned on the 14th of August after staying at the Seacrest hotel. They had stayed there for eight days and they think they saw him four or five times while there.

After that somebody said they saw him at the Conway soup kitchen between the 20th and 24th.

The latest possible sighting might have been at a Surfside flea market on early Friday morning the 24th.

TES is planning to come in and should be on the ground by Wednesday, but the Labor Day holiday may push it back to the 7th or 8th.

If you see him tell him “Ruby Pops”, “Blackie”, “Rev.” and Julieanne are looking for you. Call home Johnny. Stay with him. He’s afraid of police so call the number on the poster first. Julieanne’s number is: 404-576-6306.

Some identifying characteristics are that he will always nod his head. He looks down and messes with his ankles. If you ask him do you live in Cartersville Georgia he’ll know it.

Since the picture on the poster was taken he may have grown a beard, his hair would be thicker and he might be wearing a beige camouflage hat and may look very tired and disoriented.

The people in their town have been helping out with expenses so they can go back on the 31st and stay until the 3rd or 4th to continue looking. They had to leave on the 14th of August earlier.

:bump: To remind people Julie will be on the radio show tonight.

Just wanted to pop in and say you guys are doing a fantastic job and should be so proud of yourselves.
It takes a lot to put yourselves out for a complete stranger and I for one wish there were more people like you all, in the world.

Hope Johnny is found soon, best wishes from the UK!

They got the same BOLO that every LE agency got. The MBPD would have to request their help (SLED) . For instance, bringing in resources SLED may have (tracking dogs, special equipment ,specially trained LE) that MBPD doesn't have available.
MBPD had not requested their help as of Friday.

I'm not that far away and I have a child similar to Johnny. I'm doing this because I would want help if my son was lost.

I make a much better follower than leader .
There were many times yesterday that OLG and I wished there was someone more knowledgable about searching, than us.

We were constantly second guessing ourselves. It was stunning to hear how many people have seen or interacted with Johnny. He's there and he will be found.

It's been an eyeopening experience .I owe what I do know,to Websleuths.

I know what you mean about constantly looking.

It's such a blessing to have you right there ,willing to help.

I was hoping to meet you yesterday ,but maybe it was better to cover more ground. The weather was very kind to all of us yesterday!

We should get together to celebrate when Johnny is found .

Just be careful driving .Those hwys are crazy and it's hard to look and drive LOL !

I think you just made my point Miss James,
Nobody is doing it to make a name for themselves, nobody has to do it, yet you are all coming together and putting yourselves out there in whatever way you can, for somebody that you have never met.

You are doing it because you are great people, God bless you all and everyone who is wishing Johnny Lamar Brown home safely!

Oh,one more thing ..... I was often asked "how did you become involved in this case? "

"Well, there's this website I belong to called Websleuths..." followed by  and I imagine

If they only knew what an excellent education we receive here. Some people pay big money to learn all we know. :rocker:

I hope and pray he is found before I leave. That would be the greatest celebration ever!
