I would first like to thank Chico for putting up with all of my e-mails in order for me to get my info to Miss James and others. Glad to be here and I hope to be of some help.

I saw a man last Friday morning walking on the frontage road in Surfside between Denny's and the Jiffy Lube. It was pouring rain, there was a guy riding my bumper, but the man's shirt made me take a look at him. It was identical to the one I'd seen in the picture here. I also noticed that he looked to have on tightish jeans with a sideways kind of lightening bolt on the pockets. the jeans looked too long for him. He had on a cap (which at the time I was unaware that JB might have a cap with him) and was carrying an orange, yellow? and white striped golf umbrella. I read about the cap when I got home and decided to make the call to his sister. She said he HAD been spotted wearing jeans by others. I was just sick about not stopping.

I drive the entire length of the frontage road from 544 to the flea market every day, have been putting up flyers in the woods where I know there are homeless people living, e-mailed everyone I know in the Surfside area the flyer and asked them to do the same, and I sit for awhile each day near the spot where I saw him to see if he'll go by again.

Today, I spoke with the Jiffy Lube guys and they are keeping an eye out for Johnny. They told me that the police stop by at least twice a day to see if they've seen anything. He also told me that there is a homeless camp right behind the now defunct Taco Bell next door and that police have interviewed one man that has lived out there for a long time.

I called Monica Caison at CUE today and told her about Johnny. I then called Julieanne and told her that she needed to fill out a report with CUE and they would get feet on the ground ASAP. Monica was here on Monday, but knew nothing of the case at that point.

I have also contacted a friend of mine that works for one of the TV stations and was given the name of who I needed to e-mail there. I did that, thinking that with CUE coming and the family arriving on Friday, they may want to re-energize this story.

I have stopped into several businesses in Surfside to remind them about Johnny and to mention that he might have jeans on now. I have friends and family doing the same. The jeans are what threw me off and I don't want anyone else to feel the guilt that I do right now.

I am also checking around to see if I can get some space donated for a headquarters of some kind. So far I haven't had much luck.

Julieanne has my number and I told her to call me when she's here if she needs anything.

Be forewarned that technology and I are not great friends. I am in the tiny minority of people who refuse to even get a cell phone ( much to my family's dismay). So please bear with me and forgive me if I make any mistakes. One Lost Girl can attest to that as I believe she has numerous messages of my on her voice mail!

Sorry this is so long, but I've been holding this all in until I could get registered (apparently my e-mail addy was not the right kind?)

You ae a wonderful group and I'm amazed by how much WS members have gotten done here already! I see your flyers everywhere!

Thanks for being a ray of hope with your recent sighting of Johnny! It seems he's mostly sticking to a certain area so, fingers crossed, someone will find him soon!

My daughter was driving around in Myrtle beach this morning to scope out the shelters in hopes of seeing JB and saw a homeless man with a greenish cap on, jeans, and a striped shirt. She locked her doors, rolled down her window a bit and asked him if he was Johnny Brown. He said, "no", but he did tell her that he and others from Streetreach knew about him. That was good to hear!

Labor Day weekend is a really good opportunity to get Johnny's face out there. Can we maybe get the roadways (especially where there is construction) to put up an alert on their mobile traffic signs?
I am happy to request this if it's not already covered.

I also spoke with my friend from the TV station again today and he is pushing hard to get them to do another story on Johnny. He said the station generally does a story if the police give them an update, but otherwise they don't follow up (without a statement from LE). He's a great guy and I know he'll do whatever he can to help.

That's a GREAT idea! I know they have one of those signs on 17 Bypass near 544.

Peekerfoo, the "thank you" button is just not enough. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the information, communication, and most of all for caring about Johnny.

All of you who have been so dedicated to finding Johnny, thank you. You are truly an INCREDIBLE bunch. This is an amazing thread to read because I'm a thousand miles away and I can actually feel the love you all are putting out there into the world.

Thank you, wonderful people!

The victim found dead in Georgetown is a 25 year old--not Johnny. Good news for his family, but tragic news for someone else's.

Peekerfoo:

Do you remember if Johnny had facial hair when you saw him? This is something we've been discussing as it may make his appearance more difficult to discern...also, if he doesn't it may indicate that he's been able to find a place to clean up and shave which would be good news...

I would have thought that he would have been found by now with everyone looking for him. Thanks to all the WSs who have beat the streets in their efforts to find him. Perhaps he will be spotted again today and someone can rein him in.

Johnny has been missing now for four weeks. From the reports coming in, we could assume on the good side that he seems to be managing quite well, being able to obtain a pair of jeans for warmth and apparently food and drink for nourishment and somewhere to lay down his head. God has been with him as he has apparently met people who have taken him under their wing.

This may turn out to be a good learning experience not only for Johnny, but for his parents also, to know that he can survive pretty well on his own. His parents must have already taught him more than they realized which has resulted in his safety thus far.

Hopefully this will result in a good outcome all the way around.

Yes, he did have facial hair. Also, the cap looked a little darker because it was either wet or dirty, but was the same cap in the picture.

I also found out from Julie this morning that Johnny can read some, so I headed south today just he in case he may have mistaken a Georgetown sign for a Georgia sign (J thought that was a possibility).

Julie is going to call me when she gets into town. She has been in touch with Monica at CUE and she feels a lot more upbeat today than she was yesterday.

I was thinking along the same lines while I was out looking today. I've even heard the local LE refer to him as a "Slippery fella" on the scanner.

I told my family that once he's found (and he WILL be found) someone should write a song about him---"The Legend of Johnny Brown"

Well, peekerfoo, I can't speak for the family, but I can tell you that each of your posts make me feel sooooo much more upbeat and positive about the resolution of this sad story. Thanks are not enough to express how grateful I am that you have come to WS and are involved with this case...

To repeat my earlier post, :yourock:

Thank you nosysw. I go from upbeat to terribly discouraged. Just now I was feeling discouraged, but your post reminded to me to have hope. I beat myself up everyday for not stopping last Friday when I saw him. He was two feet from my car and I let a pair of jeans throw off my gut instincts.

Peekerfoo,

I am feeling very happy and excited that it appears Johnny is alive, well and healthy as of Friday. GREAT news. Thank you.

Hind sight is 20/20...you have given all of us so much hope and what you are doing is above and beyond. So happy MissJames was able to reach out to you and you to the family...wonderful, just wonderful.

I will call my contact in the hwy dept and request. I think there are mobile traffic signs on both the N and S bypass as well as 17 proper. Also- the airport. Has the airport been covered? I can ask security personnel there to make sure flyers are up. A lot of people fly in and out for vacation... someone may have seen Johnny. Also, often people who are not local to an area notice things differently than those who are accustomed to their surroundings.
Can't hurt, I think?

I was lucky that Julie gave me OLG's number, which in turn got me in touch with Websleuths and Miss James. It was all very complicated, but messages were received and that's what counts!

I have put together a packet for Julie when she gets here. I have numerous "Buy One-get one free" coupons (from those books you buy from the schools) and I attached directions to each restaurant to the coupon. I included some gift certificates that I purchased that can also be used with the coupons. I have a map where the sightings happened so they can orient themselves and phone numbers that might be helpful to them. By tomorrow I should have some more food gift certificates because some of my friends are going to help out, too.
