He likes beer /malt liquor . One of the sightings was of a young white guy buying Johnny a beer at a bar across the street from SurfsideBeach Resort .
OLG and I talked to the waitress at length .She even called a co worker at home to confirm .
As a matter of fact , that's what we were doing when you called us : )

Any word from the family yet ?

No word from the family as of yet. I am thinking that if I don't hear anything I may drive to Georgetown tomorrow and look around along the way. I have some family members who went on numerous trips with me in my obsession to locate Brittanee Drexel, so maybe I can get them to go with me. I do not think Johnny Brown is still in Surfside at this point. He would've been noticed by now. His main goal probably IS to find his way home. He may not realize that when you're lost you should stay put.

I think the Avendaw concerts are a good idea. My son has met his friends from Charleston there. He's in Calif. right now or I'd ask him to do that.

Miss James,
Do you know HOW Johnny called home? Was he allowed to use a business phone, call collect, or what?

It's so close we can hear them on a really good night. My husband and tween son go almost every Wed.
I plan to go this coming week if necessary .

I don't know .Julie never mentioned it to me , but she gave the info to Steely Dan prepping for the radio show.

And watching the interview with his mom , tears just rolling down her face . I'm on pins and needles just praying having the family back in MB will produce just the right mojo to find Johnny .

The staying fed is really important, imo. Is it possible he has shoplifted food from businesses along bus 17 or 17, or shared a meal with a tourist? Or any of the easy/quick stops in the area? I wonder if maybe we could take a look at reports from business owners.

What are Johnny's favorite foods and beverages?

I believe I read early on that he likes Waffle House and McDonald's. I'm not sure what else he may like. I know there is a Little Ceasar's pizza place near his home here in Cartersville. These 3 are the closest to his home, in walking distance.

Nonni Brenda, I believe they were leaving this morning and Julie said they should get here around 6pm. She said more family members were supposed to come with them, but they backed out for various reasons. There will only be 4 of them coming now. I think Julie will be going back after the week-end, but she said her parents would be here all next week.

I really feel that she could use your help in GA. I sense that she's a little overwhelmed. Who wouldn't be?! Her mind must be going in a million directions and perhaps she needs someone to help her keep it all straight.

I woke up scared this morning. I have this terrible feeling that Johnny is no longer in Surfside. This is a small town, there have been no recent sightings of him, and I know that there are many people (including our concerned LE) who are looking for him. Unless he's hunkered down in the woods and hasn't come out for days, I don't see how he could still be here. Maybe someone has taken him in? I pray that he is still in this area because, if he is, I surely believe he will be found. My husband and I took another drive last evening and concentrated again on the southern end all the way to Murrells Inlet. We went by one guy twice, who was fixing a bicycle, and he must have thought we were neighborhood watch or something. He had on glasses and was too tall, so we moved on.

I am at the point now where I'm looking for his cap, shoes, or the umbrella. ANYTHING that could possibly be related.

I agree with you that she seems over whelmed. She is working her regulare hrs as a home health assistant. I have offered to help with whatever she needs, and she always tells me that she thinks "they" have everything under control, and the family just needs to get back up there.??? This am when I talked to her she said that CUE has everything set up and already doing what needs to be done at MB. I have offered to take care of her dog here, check on house etc. I'm wondering why the other family members couldnt go back with her? I think she was planning for about 15 to go with her in the van. I just left a voice mail for her to call if she thinks of ANYTHING I can do for here. She's just not asking for help.

TES told Julie it would be the 8th or the 9th.
For the SLEd Silver Alert it's not just a matter of qualifying by disability . It's to assist the local LE with resources they may not have or may not have enough of . My best guess is that MBPD doesn't feel there is anything more SLED could do that they aren't already doing .

If there are verified sightings then the very best thing would be publicity so more people know to call LE when he's spotted .It possible to track him from a certain "last known" location , but there is nothing with Johnnys scent in MB right now so no way of starting a SAR dog tracking .

Nonni Brenda got clothing from Johnnys parents to bring to MB when she comes.

I did get clothing to carry last weekend, but I gave it back to them Mon. when Mr Brown told me they were going this weekend. Julie told when I talked to her this morning they are carrying it today, and CUE told them to bring several pieces, and put them in seperate bags. So I'm hoping that means that the will have SAR there to track his scent. I just left a message for Julie to let me know if I can do anything else from here. I don't want to interrupt what she is doing having her update me so I guess it's just a
"wait and see" situation till she has time to call one of us. Praying she will call saying they have found him and he is safe!

Someone needs to remain there in the home in case Johnny calls or finds his way home.

That is a great idea stillwatersc. I'm not sure if they left someone in charge of their home. I am not able to stay at their home because I have too many things going on here at my house. Hopefully some of the 15 family members who were coming to MB with her, and decided they couldn't, for whatever reason, is taking care of that for them. I offered but Julie declined.

You are so kind to offer your help to Johnny's family, Nonni Brenda. I think that after hearing from Miss James about the "undermining" thing that I may s just stick to my usual routine of searching and expand southward. I have flyers I can put up, too. I have a packet of things for Julie, but I really don't want to bother her if she feels this is being handled by whomever. I am glad that CUE is here. When I spoke with Monica she was very willing to come as soon as she could, so that made me feel better. It sounds like the media is finally getting back on the story. I think we should just wait until we are asked for our help at this point. I got the OK on the flyers, but I have no problem leaving the searching to the professionals. I feel like all the work that Miss James, Nosys,OLG, you and others have done is well beyond the call of duty. Y'all got the ball rolling and now all we can do is keep an eye out and trust that LE or Cue will find him. The lady I spoke with at the MBPD said that the liason working with the family is terrific at her job. I will do whatever I'm asked to do and I know you will, too!

Nonni,
I think it's great that you can be the "homebase person". It's a long drive for you to come here and I think between all the agencies they probably have this covered..

By the way, did Julie say how MANY were coming to MB? When I spoke with her yesterday she said only 4. Maybe she rallied some more family members?

She didn't sasy an exact number today, but I had the idea more than 4. I may have been just assuming that based on what she told me earlier in the wk. She did tell me at one time 15 or 16. she had not returned my phone calls this week since mon. She answered the phone when I called her this morning, that's how I got to talk to her. I'm thinking that was around 930 or 10am, and they were about to leave Cartersville at that time. They should have arrived at MB around 6, if my estimation is correct. I have left word for her once, about 30 min ago. I don't want to interrupt the search by calling her, so won't try again. Maybe she'll call one of us when takes a break.:please:

I've heard nothing yet tonight from Julie. I'm sure everything about their lives is chaos right now, so maybe she's having trouble keeping up with it all. I was excited when I read that she'd have 15 or 16 folks with her, but I felt bad when she told me only four. I hope some of them changed their minds and decided to come afterall.

You're probably right Peekerfoo. I have so many health problems myself and would be traveling alone. I was hoping, as I told Julie, that some of her family could ride with me, maybe her mom since her health is not good, and it would be better for her to ride in the car with me instead of a van with 16 people. I'm wondering myself why the number of family going is changing. I'm guessing some are saying they will go help, then when time comes they have changed their minds. That is a puzzle for me??? I've got kidney surgery next week. Getting ready for that today at the hospital...Just trying to do all I can.

MissJames,
You have worked your heart out on this case to help Johnny and his family.
I applaud you for your insight and knowledge on how Johnny could be thinking and feeling.
When Johnny has been found, a lot of credit could be given to you as the one who was instrumental in bring this search to the forefront.

It's possible that what the LE was saying was misinterpreted and may not have applied to you at all.

bbm
HEAR HEAR! Well said watcher9. MissJames, you are a real hero in my book. Thank you for everything you have done! The LE that said that to Julie was probably not really paying attention at the time, or like watcher said, maybe was just misunderstood! When Johnny is found safely, you and the others walking the streets up there can feel like the heroes you are. And I know he WILL be found safely. I have a feeling Johnny is more street-wise than we originally thought. God bless you.:rocker:

Also, does anyone know the route that Johnny's family took from GA to SC when leaving for vacation? Sometimes missing persons (especially those with cognitive impairments) who are trying to find their way home reverse directions using visual cues. TIA if anyone knows.

bbm
When I was planning to come last weekend, Johnny's dad and mom said their route was I75 to Atlanta (about 50 mi.) Then I20 east which goes all the way to SC.

You have gone above and beyond .it's not exactly a short trip from your home.Just take care of yourself and get through the surgery next week .I feel like I could sleep for a week ,myself.
I've never been involved in anything like this .

What is Johnny doing tonight ?

Hearing Julie tell about her missing brother just broke my heart. My thoughts & prayers are with Johnny and his family, I hope he is found safe & soon.

Thank you SunVenus...I agree wholeheartedly!

You know what brings tears to my eyes this night while reading the last two pages of this thread?

'tis the joy, admiration, and respect I have for the many of you who are doing all you can to find Johnny! And how generous you are, to dedicate your time and energies, even when your personal lives and health issues are demanding attention.

Exemplary response! This is how it should be but sadly often is not.

Thanks button just isn't enough for you heroes...Bravo, kudos, and all good wishes for the best outcome soon!
