I couldn't wait another second to find out what's going on, so I called Julie. She had written my number down at home, but forgot to key it into her phone, so that's why she hadn't called. I will try to put this down the best I can, but our conversation was very emotional and I was trying to take some notes at the same time.

As was reported earlier the dogs did go right for the Denny's area, most importantly, the front door! Come to find outJohnny WAS inside Dennys and wanted to use the phone. One of the workers told Julie that the manager thought he was drunk and was very rude to Johnny and kicked him out. Apparently, the manager is away on vacation this week, so they were unable to speak with him.

At the flea market a couple of men saw him and he looked very hot, so they offered him some food because they felt sorry for him.

The bus that takes workers and people up and down 17 was also interviewed and some homeless men remebered talking with Johnny and him saying he needed to go to "Allanna".

Julie's family had saved up for this trip since last April as a treat for Ruby because she has had cancer. Ruby and her husband want to stay here next week with no transportation. I suggested that going back home with Julie might be a better idea. I told her that I would help either way, but that she has to ASK for help, no matter how uncomfortable that might seem. she said she would. I told her to tell Ruby that I would stand in as a family member if they wanted to go home. Ruby is still not all that healthy and it makes no sense for them to sit in a hotel room in Myrtle beach.

I asked her if she had contacted the Red Cross for any help and she had, but they couldn't do anything for her. I asked if the Police liason was a big help, and it seems not as much as she'd thought they would be.

CUE ( or the search and rescue people as she called them) have been searching everywhere from Conway to Georgetown! It is terribly HOT here, so kudos to them!! The dogs went to the woods by Dennys (right near where I saw Johnny) and by the Jiffy Lube. Also, up by the flea market. I know I'm repeating info, but writing from notes, so bear with me.

Julie was aske by someone if she thought Johnny ran away from them and while she was telling me this she started sobbing. I was crying, too just hearing the pain in her voice. She said they were a close family, he drinks a beer or two once in awhile, he loves his hometown, and he would never EVER
leave them on purpose.

I'm crying just typing this because then she started crying harder and said she is so worried about what his mind will be like when he is found. She is so concerned about what he's possibly been going through. I think they have thought some very dark things and that made me sick for them.

Alert! I'm watching Ruby in channel 15 right now! It is CUE that's here. Monica says they are trying hard. Julie's on now--they're talking about not waiting to call if you think you see him. You can probably catch this interview on the Channels website CarolinaLive.com.

I am so happy that the family was on the news with CUE!! This is great!

Julie asked me if she could tell her mom that I would be her eyes and ears here for them if they went home. I told her I absolutely would. I also told her that Nonni wants to help in her hometown, but again, she needs to ask/accept the help. She did say that getting the word out in Georgia is probably a very good idea.

There was much more to the conversation but it was mostly talking about God, faith, and Julie's goal to get her parents to go home with her. She is so tired. She appreciates EVERYONE here and everything everyone is doing, but she said some times she gets too tired to even talk.

Julie said she doesn't cry in front of her parents, so she felt bad when she broke down speaking with me. I told her it was OK to let it out, She said she could feel that it was ok to do that with me. She said "Ifeel you and I know you feel me" awww more tears here.

They are having financial troubles and she made no bones about that. I imagine that it all gets pretty costly. I told her now that CUE is here and others are coming they should go home and try to utilize the support they have ther from their family and church. She agreed.

I didn't see CUE because they have been all over the place! Thank God they got here so quickly. I only wish I'd called them sooner.:banghead:

My husband spoke with a local Magistrate about this situation today, so we're hoping he can help, too.

Julie will call me back after she speaks to her parents. Julie is going back tomorrow at 8am, so lets hope Johnny's parents are in the van when they leave.

I am drained after that conversation because it's the first time I've heard Julie sound so emotional. It was really rough... Ruby is not good either and she's very concerned about her Dad because he tries so hard to keep Ruby's spirits up. I hope there's someone at home who Julie can lean on...

If you know of anyone on WS in the southern part of SC or Georgia please make them aware of Johnny.

and Julie says "Thank you"

I wish they would play up his special needs more andnot just make it seem as if he just has a speech impediment. maybe it's just because I work in special education but I can't help but feel people will pay more attention when they think someone is more vulnerable. I underlined the part about him having a speech impediment AND being easily confused on the posters I gave out. And it may have been my imagination but I thought the people I spoke with perked up a little and listened more carefully when I brought it up (and none of them seemed to be aware that he has a cognitive disability).

I have a friend that lives in Atlanta. I will send her Johnny's picture now. God bless each of you, Johnny, and his family!!!

:rocker: Thank you for all the information, Peekerfoo.

I was worried that someone might think Johnny was drunk. I hate hearing that it has happened. :(

Surely, one of the churches in Myrtle Beach would want to help out Johnny's family by offering them a place to stay, gift cards to restaurants, or one (or both) of our two favorites in the South, a love offering and/or dropping off meals.

Does anyone know if Johnny talks/mumbles to himself?

Sorry. I was typing as you were posting-peekerfoo. I'm on my phone still traveling so it's slow going and I was referring to the post about CUE and about their poster. Thanks for the update. Youre an angel.

Peekerfoo,
I think the family has every reason to remain hopeful .The word is getting out and there's a SAR organization on the job.
Instead of having regrets imagine if you drove past Johnny never knowing anything about him . What if you never called CUE ?

The fact is , you DID know about Johnny and you DID call CUE .Johnnys chances of being found have probably gone up a hundred fold because you care.

I agree! When I've e-mailed and facebooked the info I've made that a priority to point out. I also write MISSING in bright colors on my flyers because with the ID on them they look like a mug shot. I will do what you did from now on!! Great point!

If I wasn't a lurker at WS I probably would never have known about Johnny at all!! I get most of my news on-line, and even then I scan them pretty quickly, so I'm glad I spent so much time being a peeker here.

YOU are the ones who are responsible for CUE and for posting Julie's number to call about the tip! :rocker:

Highlighting is even better I think and I like adding the"Missing"because it does look like a mug shot.

That's great,Simp! Please tell your friend to then pass the info on to everyone they know in GA. Let's get Johnny's story out anyway we can.

According to Julie the young man who works at D's said the manager cursed at Johnny and was really mean to him. I am boycotting that D's from now on! Even if it had been a drunk person, there's no need to be cruel and verbally abusive.

I only had a black marker the first time I was in MB but I used it to write "Special Needs " under "missing man"
And wrote speech impediment in large letters in a lower spot .At home I used a bright green marker and underlined the numbers in yellow .When I was with OLG last weekend we used black and orange markers and added Julie's number .

I would redo them completely if I could. OLG and I agonized over whAt to include on the flyer. That's one reason I'm so glad professionals are now involved .

The posters I got from the SPD were the ones with his ID picture on them. I think the ID made it look like a mug shot. You and OLG did a great job!!! I went to lunch with about ten friends today and they've all seen your handiwork, too!!

I just sent a Facebook message to my grandson who is visiting his Dad in Conway, SC this weekend...and posted Johnny's picture on my profile so it is visible to all my friends and family in NC and my son in SC. I made sure to say that he is mentally challenged and has a speech impediment, and some other things. Lost, doesn't know how to get home, scared.
It's not likely they will see Johnny but one never knows. . . .

Peekerfoo probably never imagined seeing Johnny either ,after reading about him , so you never know !
The more people who know , the better his chances are : )
Thank you !
Hopefully they will spread the word in that area .

I also told them that if they spotted him to stay by him while they called LE. Too many people are calling after the fact and tomorrow is one month, it's been too long.
What's scary to me is that someone might give him a ride to somewhere else and then he'll be truly lost. Please Lord, keep him in the area where people are aware and looking.

There was a tip almost 2 weeks ago that someone thought they saw him at a soup kitchen in Conway .OLG went by there and put fliers up throughout that area .
Was this a more recent tip ?

A HUGE THANK YOU TO CUE !
