Well maybe it is because Johnny isn't "technically" a resident of this city? I don't know. Does his actual city he resides in (which is what btw?) have him listed as missing?

The thing is he is a missing person from Myrtle Beach. It's Myrtle Beach's case, so I would imagine it should be on their site. The whole purpose of putting it on there would be to help find the person or to assist other LE, wouldn't it? It wouldn't do much good to have it in Cartersville only, because it's the people who live here that usually visit the site. I'm tired--did that make any sense at all?????

Oh yes, I am with you 100%. I would like to think he would be listed on Myrtle Beach's website also. I would like to think a lot of things would be going on but I am going to have to give myself a self imposed time out. The more I am reading through this thread the more frustration I am feeling building.

God bless you guys for helping as you have! Your efforts have not been in vain or unnoticed. I still think he will be found by someone who has seen a flier that one of you have hung up.

Kai, I am trying to picture the "squished up contorted confused pose" LOL!!!! Love it!!

Thisis very strange!!! I just went to the Myrtle Beach PD site and clicked on the Missing Persons link and there were none listed!
http://p2c.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/p2c/missing.aspx

What????????????????

I did that in the beginning of this case and again just before my second trip to MB . It's never been under their missing persons link. NOBODY was listed under that link ,and we all know about Britannee Drexel.

maybe LE is looking at this case through a different lens. They do have to do that you know even if it is without a doubt out of the question they still have to look at all angles. We don't know, maybe LE is looking at this as abuse, abandonment, or even something else. We don't know, it could just be if no leads come in they don't look at the case. Patrol cars have the BOLO or whatever and that is it. If information comes in they check it out other than that I don't think they really investigate.

From the Black and Missing Foundation
Everything seems wrong on here such as date Johnny went missing, date of birth, height ,weight.

If this is correct though, his height and weight match to the unkown male in GA hospital who had been shot?

The shooting victim has a tattoo on his chest with 6 letters, there are six in "johnny"
I know that Julie already said Johnny has no tattoos.

Just saying

It's possible that family members are clinically depressed over the situation. Depression can zap motivation and follow-through very badly, so let's keep open minds, please. It may take everything this family has to get out of bed in the morning.

I wish we could just hear from CUE. I think it's important for organizations to fully support family members, so they should fill in where family can't during such a difficult time. They probably are :) We're just at a disconnect with the investigation at this point, I think. That doesn't mean they aren't working their butts off. Johnny has my prayers that CUE is on this big time.

And we can still be on it, I think! Fliers and articles, etc, are probably what will find him. People in the area just need to know to look, why, and who to call when they see him.

I'm very disappointed the Black and Missing site doesn't mention any autism-like symptoms. Folks need to understand that we're looking for a child-like 44-year-old man. I really think that's important. I'll email them, and I suggest lots of folks do the same with their tips and ideas on the situation.

Let's flood MBPD about listing him as a missing person on their site, too. We can get the word out; I'm sure!

That's strange to me, but probably Kai's right and it's only reserved for "locals".

I used to work in a group home for mentally challenged folks. We had one adult male in his late 20's who was a "runner." By that, I mean he would slip out of the house sometimes and end up a mile or two away from the home. He was well known to the local PD because we were instructed that anytime we noticed him gone, we were to call them. A BOLO would go out immediately and whatever patrol was in the general area would drive around looking for him. Once he was found in a big supermarket, another time when he was at the work center, he ended up in the woods behind it. I think the longest time he was missing was 6 or 8 hours but it was nearly always LE who found him.

My point is, since Johnny is not a resident of that city, it's possible that the local cops are just not 100% focused on trying to find him, as if he lived there and they knew him. They do work with LE in other cities and states, but it's hard to really search for a person if they're not familiar with him, his habits, his mannerisms, even his gait. Even though they have a general description of him, his appearance could have changed drastically. Even the way he normally walks may have changed... he's tired, he may be hungry, he is confused, disoriented... he is not going to look or act the same.
Some things to think about.

Strange to me, too. He should be listed for the simple reason he was in that city when he disappeared. It's their jurisdiction. The LE in his home town are not obligated to come to MB and do their job for them... it's up to them to find him.

Sorry... I'm frustrated. Johnny needs to be found!!

I will say that the Surfside Police Department has been actively looking for Johnny. Some of the businesses I stopped at said the police check at least a couple of times a day to see if they've seen him. I've also heard his name come up many times on my home scanner. I know that Myrtle Beach is a MUCH busier place and I don't go up there unless I have to (traffic is bad) so I'm not sure what's happening there and can't comment on that.

Checking in and hoping he is found soon.

Just so the posters on here don't lose hope.....I googled searched his name and there are many, many articles about Johnny. There's also a facebook page and youtube videos. So the word is spreading.

Also, I found a Myrtle Beach missing posting poster that the LE posted.http://p2c.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/p2c/pressrelease/PressRelease_Brown.pdf

Has anyone checked into cartersville VA? Has the police there been alerted?

  • #814
Im worried that Johnny will try to call home...and no one will answer. That seems to be the pattern. Everytime NB calls Julie, she has to leave a message.

  • #815
Do we know exactly how challenged vs. functional Johnny really is? I am printing some of the fliers and I am going to take them to some of the homeless shelters and Salvation Army here in Augusta, Georgia today.

The last line of the description says: Mr. Brown is entered NCIC.

Anyone know what that means?

NCIC is the FBI's National Crime Information Center - an electronic source of crime information that law enforcement from anywhere can use.
