SC SC - Marjorie 'Gayle' McCaffrey, 36, West Ashley, 18 March 2012 *husband guilty*

  • #181
Just read on the FB page that he didn't show, so her sister was given custody until the next hearing. No word on when that will be...

Thanks so much for the info, PMLsmom.

This guy is such a loser--he didn't show for the custody hearing? Don't get me wrong, I'll be very upset if he gets custody, but my goodness, he didn't even show up?

Hmmm. ... Maybe he knows his goose is cooked. Ah, that would be a very good thing. A very, very good thing.

Sounds like Julie in Sky's case. She didn't bother to show for custody of little M either.

Guilt is as guilt does.

Thanks Donjeta, finally there is something happening!

and a typed note left behind at their Limestone Boulevard home does not appear to be genuine.

On Wednesday, Cannon said Robert McCaffrey went to Greenville County to meet with a female love interest, but that meeting didn't "work out." Cannon said the love interest is cooperating with authorities, while Robert McCaffrey is not.

I'm glad to hear LE isn't buying into Bob McCaffrey's account of who wrote the typed note. If it had been a handwritten note and Gayle's handwriting could be verified, I'd believe Gayle wrote it. But it was typed? Your entire world is collapsing around you and you sit down and TYPE a note to your husband as you depart and leave your children behind rather than write out the note by hand? How impersonal ... Don't think so.

Also I'm glad to hear the love interest is cooperating with LE while Bob isn't. The two never even met up that night, and it seems he might have made an 8+-hour trip for nothing. Well, he probably IMHO got to dispose of a body IMHO, but other than that he didn't get lucky that night. The one thing we could hope for (I'M SO HOPING!) is if the girlfriend got a confession from him that could be used in court. Now that would be outstanding. Simpy outstanding.

yep I am afraid (hopeful rather?) that typed note, probably on the computer, that can be traced as to when typed/printed will very well seal the deal on time frame- PLEASE let her be found so justice can be served!

Pretty detailed article...

And with the addition of new information, Cannon publicly named Bob McCaffrey as the suspect in his wife’s slaying, though he acknowledged that current evidence wouldn’t support such an accusation.

“If I did (have probable cause), I’d have him in jail now,” Cannon said. “I think there is a tremendous amount of information pointing to him, but at this point it’s circumstantial.”

Later that evening, Bob McCaffrey left in his pickup truck for a whirlwind, overnight drive to northern Greenville County. That’s where he met with a woman he had been exchanging text messages and telephone calls with, the sheriff said.

Relatives previously have said that Gayle McCaffrey discovered conversations between the two through an email account that the McCaffreys shared.

(in the note)..The message also suggested that Bob McCaffrey would be a better parent to their two children, who were alone and sleeping when Bob McCaffrey returned.

also from the above link

Today, deputies will return to a private property across S.C. Highway 61 from Drayton Hall. Information gleaned from cellphone records led them back to the industrial land, the sheriff said.

Also stated in that article "he has regular weekend visits with his children." Are they supervised? They need to keep JPowell in mind...Seriously. JMO

Agree, especially since in the "note" it states that he would be the better parent. And we all know who wrote the note.

For the first time, deputies and rescuers planning to search an area off Ashley River Road are acting on clues that indicate the forested land is significant in the case of missing West Ashley mother Gayle McCaffrey.

About 150 searchers were participating in the effort, including 60 staffers from The Citadel.

Don't see any updates on how the search went.

Police officer: Missing woman's husband had gun in his truck
According to Lavery, McCaffrey admitted he was having wife and girlfriend problems. Soon after, Lavery spotted a gun in McCaffrey's truck.
http://www.live5news.com/story/1843...-dissappearance-had-gun#.T7Md7sRUbWI.facebook

Interesting turn of events with the gun found in Bob McCaffrey's car the night Gayle went missing. Who drives with a handgun on the center arm rest in the middle of nowhere and in the middle of the night? How odd. Yet wouldn't the officer would have smelled gun powder on the gun when he took possession of it to investigate ownership if it had been recently used? Apparently he didn't notice anything suspicious. Is it possible Gayle was still alive at that point? Why was that gun out?

I just keep thinking LE is looking in the wrong place (close to home) when they need to keep checking out the NW area of the state where Bob was stopped that night with the gun. In my state, LE would not have been casual about finding a gun out in the open within the car, and the driver would probably have been ushered back to police headquarters for a litte chitchat. :) I guess the same scenario isn't such a big deal in SC (no offense to SC-ers.)
