Coroner Francis "Nick" Nichols told WYFF the woman died from a gunshot wound to the neck.

Nichols said he will have to wait on DNA test results and dental records to identify the woman. An autopsy on Saturday did not lead to a positive identification.

I wonder what's going on since I'm sure by now LE should know whether the body found is Myranda's or not.

Not for the faint of heart: I was thinking, and it made me sick, that perhaps, if she was shot in the face, she cannot be recognized by mere observation? :(

This is one of the quietest investigations I've seen around here. The FB page is monitored and nobody can even speculate, or they get shut down. No word on the car that I've seen either. The lady that lives in the area where this woman was found must be terrified that there is a killer on the loose. Maybe LE has told her something to keep her quiet. This family of Myranda is on my mind. I have checked to make sure there are no other missing women in the area. But anything is possible.

One of Myranda's friends is saying that "someone" is still logging into her Facebook. Surely whoever it is must know that those logins can be traced?

IMO... The delay in identifying this body is baffling!

My husband, retired LE chief, said preliminary DNA could have been complete within 1 and 1/2 days, but complete DNA would take about five days. Not to be too graphic, but for those who don't know...a body outside in the elements for four days would be completely unrecognizable. So they would know if it is or isn't her.

Could be a family member keeping track of what's going on. I have my daughter's (yes, she's grown) password and would be able to look at. Just a thought.

Possibly, although one of the friends said she'd messaged Myranda a few days ago and it had been read - if it was a family member I'd have thought they would have messaged back to explain?

I'm kind of hoping it's whoever is responsible as they've given themselves away..

LAURENS COUNTY, S.C. -

Body Of Woman Found In Laurens Co. Remains Unidentified - August 28, 2013

Officials at the Laurens County Coroner's Office say it may take several weeks before we know the identity of a body that was found last week.

Dental records returned Wednesday were inconclusive, according to Coroner Nick Nichols.

The body was so badly decomposed that investigators are not going to have to rely on DNA testing.

I think someone meant to say investigators are going to have to rely on DNA testing, which should have already been done.

This is making no sense at all. Makes me wonder what is really going on. DNA would have been back by now...unless they never sent it to the lab?

This is almost like they have found bones that have been in a spot for years. If they think it's a certain person, the dental records they mentioned should have answered that very quickly! In the meantime, have they stopped searching for Myranda???

It's possible the teeth may have been disturbed by the gunshot but it seems they would have known that from the autopsy.

Very good question!

I hope LE are "quietly" still searching for Myranda while the ID of this found body is in the process of being identified...

It sounds like there is much to be investigated in this case...

Perhaps LE is logging in to read her messages, etc?

This case is driving me crazy....I don't want it to just fade away before she is found.

Is this a really small law enforcement department? I know I wouldn't want anything to happen where I live. They don't solve anything. If they can, they call everything a suicide....not murder.

I haven't seen anything in the news indicating LE is searching for Myranda or her car. Apparently they are relying on tips to be phoned in, but there's not much publicizing of this case. The last info on the facebook page talks about a possible lead and then nothing except hoping for Myranda's safe return. I also don't see where SLED has been called for assistance. What's up with that?
