Wow, @PommyMommy, it's sadly as you feared. Per the press conference, DJ admitted to officers during his interview that he dumped Nevaeh in the apt. dumpster. LE contacted sanitation dept. and immediately started searching a transfer station and a landfill. The search continues, as they have not yet located her. All this per live press conference just concluded.

Investigators say missing 5-year-old Nevaeh Adams is dead and her body was put in a dumpster, but the search for her body continues, according to the Sumter Police Department.

Police say they’ve searched through nine different trucks and around 230 tons of trash in two different landfills in Sumter and Richland County.

St. Louis County man charged in South Carolina woman’s murder, says he also killed 5-year-old girl

McGirt said Johnson is also a suspect in a homicide in the City of St. Louis. She said the homicide occurred sometime this summer.

According to court records, Johnson is from Hillsdale, Missouri.

As Sumter police were discussing with SLED whether to issue an Amber Alert, they say Johnson admitted to killing the two. He said he disposed of Neveah in a dumpster.

However, officers say they determined that dump trucks had already picked up the trash. They identified nine trucks which may have been carrying her remains, and began searching both the Sumter County landfill and a landfill on Screaming Eagle Road in Lugoff in Richland County.

Officers said each truck had 2.3 tons of garbage. At 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, they began going through the refuse. But as of 7 p.m. that same day, her remains had not been located.

Roark said the search would continue. He said while they keep hope that she's somehow alive, they believe she was murdered.

SUMTER, S.C. (WIS) - The search for a missing 5-year-old girl is continuing, according to the Sumter Police Department.

According to Sumter Police Chief Russell Roark, III, officers have search abandoned units at Lantana Apartments, wooded areas, adjacent properties, and landfills in search of Adams’ body.

"Based on the information we’ve received from the suspect, we’ve searched the landfills. We’re going to continue to search. In fact, we’re going back in some areas tomorrow,” Roark said. “We keep hope that perhaps she’s still alive. We’re going to continue to search. We’re going to continue to take information. But based on what we know now, based on the information he’s provided us, she would be deceased.”

Earlier Tuesday, officers said the suspect in her disappearance provided information that indicated Adams is dead. But as of 7 p.m. Tuesday, Adams’ body has not yet been found.

I thought so, too! She looks like someone you'd want to get to know and someone who enjoyed life. There is such a sparkle in her eyes to match that beautiful smile. I can only hope she had no idea anything happened to her precious baby girl.

I hope you're right.

IMO, his booking photo to me looks like he's pure evil, so I don't know how merciful he may have been. His eyes look like he's got the devil in him, just soulless, IMO. He definitely doesn't have a problem hitting women, based on prior posts (with links previously posted) about his history of domestic violence and hitting a woman. IMO.

I had so much hope when this case broke. My heart hurts for their family. I’d say if they caught him leaving and he admitted to it that’s solid. I hope they find her soon. I agree they need to search the building more as well
