The defence tried to delay the revealing of the contents of the phones claiming that not everyone who was listed in the ‘chain of custody’ will be appearing in court to testify that they did not compromise the phones.
The prosecution seemed ready and prepared for this attempt by the defence. They had documents and some precedents immediately at the ready.

After some debate, the judge sided with the prosecution and it was deemed that it would be unnecessary to have every single person listed in the chain of custody appear as a witness.

My question is, how did the prosecution know that the defence was going to bring this up? How did the prosecution know to have research at the ready? Is this a topic that the lawyers would have discussed earlier behind closed doors? Or was the prosecution just that well prepared?

AM possibly planned for it look like a multiple shooter crime or had the scoped weapon, scope uses heat signatures/night vision to acquire target's just in case targets fled out into the night. From what the crime scene looks like , it was a surprise attack or both victims knew the shooter with no reason for alarm until shot's started and MM made the effort to run.

Trying to figure out what happened here in such a short time.
IMO both victims were caught by surprise almost as if they knew the shooter. Both victims were near each other at starting point. The shooter comes walking in could even be packing already which the victims would notice but not flee at that point, knowing the shooter. The shooter then proceeds to shoot first victim inside of room causing second victim to run only to make it to the point found. PM being the shooter takes different route out to distance himself from crime scene, possible evidence. Almost get the feel that PM worked his way down to the kennel's on foot in the cover of darkness with weapons on person and once there moved in using the darkness until contact. Afterwards back up to the house and exiting from the residence.

I don’t think this is right. I’d have to rewatch, but I think others here have it right that LE put it in airplane mode when it was discovered.

Yes for protection/ preservation.
And VanHouten talked about -Faraway bags-
which shields phone data from being remotely destroyed(which I never thought of but would be horrible)

I learn something new each trial

That’s the way I heard it. LE did that to preserve the content.

Finding Maggie's phone -- per DH's opening statement:

"[Harpootlian] said they found Maggie’s cell phone the night of the killing on the side of the road about a half-mile or so away from the crime scene.

“They found it by using ‘Find My iPhone.’ And the way they did, that they had to open it or have access. Who gave them the code to open the phone? Alex Murdaugh,” he said."

Harp's really not all there, SLED found the phone the next day on the 8th.

It's going to be a nightmare if they let him cross examine Dove with this MM phone actions log. I was finding it hard with the line numbers being mentioned ALL the time. Why can't they just say at this recorded time this happened and not give a log sheet number line too for every blessed thing. I had to rewind many times to get the sequence of times written down for myself because of that. The jurors can't do that...say STOP, hang on what was that again?

Possibly AM tried to turn Paul over to use Face ID to open Paul's phone? (I know Paul's brain basically exploded from the shotgun blast). JMO.

Was thinking PMs phone got text/call after killing and AM pulled it out (transferred blood inside pocket) to see who called/texted saw it was RG and called him multiple times after.

Thinking AM was fiddling with both phones for any possible link back to him and why MM's phone ended up where it was found after AM's failed attempt's to get into it.

What was discovered in the trash by Agent Croft wasn't a Gucci receipt but a credit card statement with (itemized) Gucci charge circled on the statement. The charge was about $1,041.
Still interested to know if info located on phone. moo

Good morning!
I've been thinking about the question, "Why were MM and PM's phones in different locations post-murder?". It is confusing, but I think that is what it was intended to do...to confuse.

As an attourney and criminal AM knows that the facts will not help him. He needs to sow seeds of doubt and confusion. I think there is a weird logic at play. AM thinks..." I can't be seen as the person who ditched M's phone if I admit to leaving P's phone because it is inconsistent behavior."

I also think it is possible that sheer panic or chaos post-murder is at play.

Let there be justice for M & P. I can't stop thinking about how horrible it must have been for them.
