I have only loosely followed this case and am now getting caught up during the trial. Looking at family photos of Alex, Paul, Maggie, and Buster together, they all seem to be so uncomfortable, with no light in their eyes or any sign of affection for another. Maybe I am reading too much into things after the fact. This may be obvious to others but I am just now realizing that money/status, or the illusion of it, was the only thing holding this family together. And it all fell apart once Alex lost control of his money schemes.

The state calls its 27th witness, SLED’s Paul Greer. We heard from Greer in pre-trial motions last week. His testimony is crucial to the state’s argument that Maggie Murdaugh was killed with a Murdaugh family weapon - a .300 Blackout rifle that had been fired at Moselle before.

Greer is questioned by state prosecutor David Fernandez.

Greer has spent several minutes explaining guns and ammo to a Colleton County jury.

Hearing Greer testify a second time (first time before the jury) has been particularly draining. State has presented six financial witnesses who might all have to re-testify if the judge sides with prosecutors on financial evidence.

Thus far, there's no evidence that MM consulted a divorce lawyer and there's also no evidence that MM texted a friend she thought AM was acting fishy or that she wanted to meet AM at hospital versus going home to Moselle. I think if there was any evidence of divorce rumors, the state would have led with this information to support an additional financial motive.

In fact, evidence showed MM requested Bianca prepare a meal for the family before she left for the day. IMO, I think AM was being his usual opportunistic self when asking MM to leave Edisto where he was able to take it all in (last supper with the family) before the demise of his family forever.

Tonight, I heard a talking head suggest an interesting theory where there could have been a heat-of-passion altercation between AM and PM at the kennels where PM said/did something wreaking of irresponsibility that was about to cost $$$ AM further (after AM spent the day preparing for the wrongful death hearing, and then challenged by his firm), and AM lost it on PM and witnessed by MM.

If I were defending AM, I think I'd be considering something like this that ties to AM's state of mind on June 7 when he'd been subjected to a boatload of bad news. MOO

IMO, the defense may have won a pretrial motion to exclude this evidence from testimony on hearsay. The only person who could absolutely validate the intent in a text message would be MM, and she was silenced.

Also, when you start digging into someone MM may have confided in, you are opening that person's life, and any misdeeds in their life can possibly be used to impeach their testimony without MM there to validate the authenticity of that person's testimony. They would also have to prove that the information provided by that person is not prejudiced based on the relationship with MM, and a true statement of facts. IMO, a confidant would be very partial to MM.

In regard to the divorce lawyer, these discussions are covered by attorney-client privilege, and again, the only person that could speak to MM's intentions/reasons for consulting with an attorney for any reason could only be validated by MM and only MM. I also remember reading months ago that MM had the family's financials independently forensically audited, but again, confidentiality comes into play, and MM may have signed something to that effect with a forensic accountant.

All of this is JMO, but I have wondered about the same topics and whether or not they would come in, and these are some of the reasons I assume could be that we will not hear this information. JMO. moo

The family lawyer Eric Bland for Gloria Satterfield aka house maid will be interviewed soon on Law & Crime TV . Gloria worked 20 years and basically raised Paul. Alex blamed it on dogs.Her body is to be exhumed!
Maggie would NOT use beach house as collateral on Alex loans.
Money trail not used on opioid addiction. Alex may of used but not addicted to use that amount of money

I'm stuck at the blue raincoat.

He must have put it on at the house, before going to the kennels. Had the rain started? He wanted to protect his button-down (seen in the earlier tree video) and just happened to have it on when a sudden need to kill arose? Or it was very intentional.

What was Maggie wearing? Did AM have the only rainwear in the group? When did he acquire it? Had anyone ever seen him wear it prior?

The rain had not started and I doubt AM put the coat on at his residence. I think the tarp-like-looking raincoat was probably something that was hanging at the kennel. Perhaps he used the coat to cover one or both of the long guns waiting for him in the feed room or inside a kennel. From the testimony, we know Maggie was wearing a dress and flip-flops/slides. MOO

That was my exact reaction. They look down on women as if it were their right to feel superior. I’m curious if AM stole from women more than men. Like Gloria S. He also thought the CFO shouldn’t have been questioning his behavior. I’m so glad she stood up to him.

I think this will be important to hold onto (while we wait for the Judge to rule on the admissibility of AM's financial "misdeeds"), as the Judge referenced it yesterday:

It doesn't necessarily matter what others learned about his misdealings or when they learned them, the accused himself was aware.

I didn't word that well.

But I was reminded of it when the defense tried to hang up the housekeeper's son, that perhaps he didn't contact AM about the surprise settlement they never even knew about before the murders but did after.

Point being, it's not as relevant as the defense paints. As if, the only way it could be relevant to murder is if it was before. The pressures for AM were mounting either way.

I think the Judge is going to rule it in. All of it.

Agree. I think this was probably a phone conversation and deemed hearsay whereas a text conveying the same would probably be admitted as evidence.
