And it wasn't. By all accounts, John Marvin sent a group text to the family in the early evening before the murders stating he planned on going to the hospital to visit RMIII the following day (June 8) and asked about their schedules.

Having received confirmation of the prognosis-- appears the family made the decision to take him out of hospital and bring him back home where he died on June 10 -- but not before also stopping by the Lodge where AM and lawyers from the firm were gathered in support of AM. (See R. Crosby's testimony on 2/6).

After a roundtrip drive to/from Savannah, and a double family murder, I don't see anything restful and/or peaceful about RMIII's final three days!

I would like to know what AM does during the lunch break. Is he allowed to meet and eat with his family and/or attorneys and if so, does a deputy sit in there with them. Does he get non jail furnished food for lunch and if so, who pays for it.

I would like to know who launders his court clothing. Are those clothes his or do they belong to the county.

I would like to know if he is searched (strip or otherwise) when he returns to jail before being returned to his cell.

I can't find a date when Randolph Murdaugh III retired from PMPED. I'm not sure if he ever offically retired from there. I'm wondering how (if at all) his presence at the firm influenced how his sons were treated as partners/employees. JMO.

Defense attorneys asked the judge to prevent further testimony about the raincoat after the caretaker for Murdaugh's ailing mother testified that she saw him bring a “blue something, looked like a tarp” into his mother's home nine days after the killings.

State agents got a search warrant four months after the killings and found a tarp but also a blue rain jacket.

State Law Enforcement Agent Megan Fletcher testified she found a large amount of gunshot residue inside the jacket and said it was consistent with either firing a gun while wearing it inside out or being wrapped around a recently fired weapon. Court ended Tuesday before she could be cross examined.

Defense attorneys said prosecutors didn't connect the jacket to Murdaugh through the caretaker's confusing testimony and that it would be unfair and harmful to his case to let state agents testify about what the testing on the jacket found. Witnesses have testified the Murdaugh family constently shot guns and hunted on their property and the residue can't be linked to a specific weapon.

The defense did an “effective job in cross-examination in raising questions as to the credibility of the witness. And that is the exact job the jury has to do — weigh the credibility of the witness,” the judge said.

Or maybe someone told him he was acting like a fool and not impressing anyone and because he can't do anything differently he has taken a second chair. The thing it is obvious to most who know how he normally handles a trial. Me thinks it might be the judge who set him down. Judge Newman will not put up with a circus in his courtroom.

I don’t think so. I think Harpootlian is in charge of the strategy and directing the whole operation. IMO, he has delegated the heavy lifting to his team. But have you noticed that at least Griffin consults with DH often before closing questioning for a witness? Sometimes they come back with more after such a pow-wow.

As to the GSR I am convinced AM had the gun/guns wrapped up in the blue tarp/rain poncho and that is why the caregiver mentioned that the ATV had been moved....I believe AM disposed of the gun/guns (or parts as someone else mentioned!) on the Almeda property.

I wonder how many acres that property has.

Interesting how even on his deathbed, RM III was at that last strategy meeting. He was at the hospital after the boat crash; he was at the scene with Maggie.

The day of the murders, AM got several alarming pieces of information. One,“Daddy“ was dying. Two, the firm was onto his theft and, of course, the civil suit was threatening to expose his financial schemes.

I wonder how much clout AM would have without Daddy. I wonder if RM III wasn’t the real power and clout in those parts. Maybe he was relying on Daddy fixing things at the office snd leaning on the civil suit judge. But now he was losing his Father just when he needed him most.

I wonder if he spent hours that afternoon, grand manipulator of emotions that he is…wondering what in the world could shut down both the civil suit and the office mess. What would play on people’s emotions to such an extent that he could come through this.

And then…he thought of something. Because without RM III, he was on his own.

I'm listening again to parts of Mushelle Smith's direct exam by the State. One of the prosecutor's mistakes was that after he got a favorable answer from her, he would try to emphasize what she said by repeating the same question to her. But asking her the same question seemed to cause her to doubt her original answer and she would then back off and say she wasn't sure and so the original favorable testimony was basically blown. This happened several times. The State should know that if they get an answer that they like, they should just move on. Don't try to create drama by getting the witness to repeat the testimony. Argue it all in closing statement! JMO.

I thought her testimony was in camera so the raincoat evidence could be admitted. Since Judge Newman allowed it, she should be called to testify again and hopefully will be more comfortable with what to expect and Waters will know the best way to elicit more confident answers.

RMIII's obituary provides he rejoined the firm in 2006 (1986-2005 Solicitor of the 14th Circuit) but no evidence if/when his law license was ever reported as inactive. Also, not sure when his health problems started but I think he likely stepped back from being active sometime before 2018 when he received the Order of the Palmetto (South Carolina’s highest civilian honor) from Governor Henry McMaster. JMO

At one time I thought he “may” testify, but not now. There is just too much that he would be confronted with and we haven’t even seen all the evidence yet.

He believe is above everyone. I think its possible he takes the stand. Talk his way out of it. This is a learned behavior from his father. Paul gets it from Alex and Alexs dad.

Thank you. Not entirely clear, but this article about him being awarded the Order of Palmetto in 2018 makes it sound like he was still practicing at the firm at that time. "On Dec. 31, 2005, Randolph retired as Solicitor and also returned to his old law firm to practice with two of his sons. He continues the firm’s tradition started by his grandfather in 1910 of representing individuals and small businesses in their legal needs."

Although it doesn't seem he could have worn those during the shooting or they would have tracked a lot of evidence into his car.

I might be wrong but I think Sperry makes a tennis shoe (it looks more like the traditional Keds we wore as kids), and also I think you can get that traditional Sperry boat shoe model in white and maybe even in white canvas.

Also there are companies that imitate the Sperry boat shoes and tennis shoes so unless you were looking for the branding there are shoes that appear to be Sperrys but really aren't.
