Isn't it more believable that he lied to protect himself because he had just left prior to the murders? Less believable to me that he killed his own family, and that he had time to clean up a crime scene in 15-20 minutes.
As for cleaning up the scene....all he had to do was strip off his clothes/shoes and wrap them up in a raincoat/tarp. Wash his hands/neck/face/hair (in skinning shed?). Put on t-shirt/shorts/Sperrys. Start up SUV and text Maggie.

Does anyone know if LE found those clothes?

I have a gun question. If I have someone builds me a firearm, like AM had someone do, does that builder keep test shot from those weapons? Are they required to do that? Or even if I go to a gun store and buy a firearm, has it been test fired before sale or even before delivery to the store?
I gunsmith part time now and I do perform testing at the range to make sure the weapon is performing properly but I do not keep slugs, brass and such from the testing. If the customer wants a scope mounted I perform testing as well to sight the scope in and keep the target (paper) result's to show customer. The customer usually fine tunes the scope to their needs depending on the ammo used and their shooting (hold) style.

What a condescending, arrogant cross exam to this witness IMO.
🤬🤬🤬, just like his client/friend. People are watching this and this young man did a great job. Mom would be so proud of him.

You know what Alec  didn't do? When he came upon the scene where 1/2 of his family had been annihilated? He didn't immediately confirm the whereabouts of his other son!!

oh, boy.

. Good point, hadn’t thought of that.
Sure seems that would have been a priority.

I agree. But didn't he leave his cell phone at the house (creating alibi per the prosecution) and therefore need to go up to the house to retrieve/use it? I think he did strip off his clothes/shoes, throw them in a bag, and hosed himself down at the kennels. I'm hoping we hear if LE executed a search warrant to find the clothes/shoes -- if they were nowhere to be found, that will be interesting. JMO.

No, because if you truly had nothing to do with it and wanted to catch whoever was responsible, you’d do everything in your power. Which at the very least would include telling the truth.

Plus, if he just “happened” to find them at 10 pm, he would have no idea when they were actually killed. So how would he know to lie about when he last saw them to avoid admitting he was with them 5 minutes before?
