We are back after lunch. Watching the rest of the SLED-Murdaugh 8/11/21 interview. SLED is asking AM about the boat crash case.

SLED shows AM the 7:38 p.m. Snapchat video from that evening. AM notes Paul is laughing at him bcause “I had gone to great lengths to try to get (the tree) to be upright.”

Alex Murdaugh to Owen: “I know y’all have to look at me. I try to have as little discussions with the people that y’all are interviewing.”

Owen: A few more questions: “Did you kill Maggie?” AM: “No. Did I kill my wife? No.” Owen: Do you know who did? AM: “No.” Owen then asks if AM killed Paul or knows who did. AM says no.

Alex Murdaugh: “Do you think I killed Maggie?” Owen threw his hands up in the air. “I have to go with the evidence takes me.”

Alex Murdaugh: “Does that mean that I am a suspect?” Meadors pauses the video. He asks if Alex Murdaugh was a suspect then. Owen: “He was the only known suspect at that time, yes.” Meadors notes that on that day, 8/11/21, the local solicitor recused himself from the case.

Meadors: Did your investigation reveal inconsistencies in what Mr. Murdaugh had told you? Owen: Yes. Meadors: Was that significant to you in your probe? Owen: It was. “It wasn’t one inconsistency. It was several inconsistencies within a period of time that were repeated.”

Owen testifies that the financial investigation into Murdaugh became intertwined with the murder investigation. Some of the same witnesses were interviewed in both probes.

Owen testifies he got Paul's cell phone data on 4/8/21 and found the 8:44 p.m. dog kennel video. Meadors: “Did anybody else in the world know that was on there except Paul?” Owen: “Nobody, to my knowledge.”

Meadors: Were there any other credible leads you investigated that led you to anybody but Murdaugh? Owen: “Not credible leads.” The state ends its questioning of Owens.

Keep in mind these individuals own several vehicles each: there have been no allegations that Buster was at Moselle-- we know he was in Rock Hill. The black truck kept/used at the farm was known as Buster's truck (ref. Dale Davis testimony).

It follows that all 3 rode to the kennels together after supper.
I said Buster was not at Moselle. Definitely follows that they would ride together. I was unfortunately responding to a question about Paul resisting going together. My point was that it appeared that LE believes that they all drove down together in AM's car (which seems like a logical belief.) JMO.

I’m
Yes. After DH said he was looking forward to cross examining CES, I have no doubt that Waters is ready and waiting to cross AM. If he does take the stand, I'll be very interested in how long it takes DH to form a question and how many times he strikes himself..let me rephrase that..before he allows AM to answer. In essence DH will be testifying through his pseudo questions so Waters will be limited on his cross. I hope he does take the stand...I want to see if he lies the same in person as he does on video. jmo
A narcissist believes they are the smartest person in the room, so it wouldn’t surprise me if AM chooses to testify.

Yes, the golf cart. Definitely could have driven it. I was thinking the same thing. But to me the State seemed to be implying that they didn't use that. Re Paul resisting, AM could have told them they would all go back to the house together or that they would all go to Almeda together from the kennels??? Not sure. JMO.
didn't golf cart have forensic evidence on it??

Is it me or is the prosecution fumbling the ball here a little??? This is the MAJOR crux of the biscuit right here and it's like he pulling teeth from this detective. They should be exploding with the inconsistencies that should be rolling off the tongue. C'mon guys hammer this stuff!!

Yes, seemed to be biological matter from a victim?? And my recollection is that SLED said they didn't test it!

Did anyone catch that part about Alex's card not working at work that day. I'll go back after today is done, but it was something about someone else had to let him in to the office.. Wonder if this was on purpose that his card didn't work? Maybe he thought he could fudge the times he was at work by not having his card showing times?

Thinking he wasn't going too.
Okay. Maybe I didn't need to post that. It's a no brainer. Getting more coffee. lol

This is the lead investigator and this prosecutor has done a terrible job of this direct exam. First of all, I don’t know why Waters didn’t do the direct! But this second chair is really bad at questioning witnesses and this is their most important witness. The witness himself comes across as sympathetic to AM and doesn’t seem convicted of his guilt. Just that there were no other suspects. When a man kills his family so brutally, investigators are out to GET him and they’re indignant. I don’t see that here! JMO

Agree. And my point was that Buster's vehicle at Moselle does not mean he was there -- Buster had alternate transportation to choose from (as did all)!

I think he did okay. They were re-direct and maybe then after seeing what the defense is going to try to say or focus on.. then they can hammer home the big points.
