He keeps admitting the act (I did it, it was wrong, and I shouldn’t have done it), but skips over the fact that a human being suffered a violation through his act.
Basically, AM is admitting (without officially using the words), "I.have.no.conscience!"

Sound check

Is there an echo in the courtroom or just on the witness stand?

  • #804
There's so many crimes he can't remember ANY one single time!!!

  • #805
but what is he on trial for now? murder...why are they trying his financial crimes here?

IMO
to show how callous, manipulative and narcissistic he is.

I have learned that this man is probably one of the COLDEST most unbelievably arrogant people I have ever seen in my life.

Now, admit you are looking us all in the eye and lying about the murders.

"They were people I cared about and I still did them this way." YA Alex, just like your wife and son.

Not yet. He hasn't been sentenced. He's petitioning for a new trial.

UPDATE (9:30pm): A jury has found former Lowcountry banker Russell Laffitte guilty on all charges in his federal bank fraud conspiracy trial.
Laffitte is the former CEO of Palmetto State Bank in Hampton up until January 2022 when he was fired by the bank for his apparent role in stealing money from personal injury clients of disbarred former attorney Alex Murdaugh.

Laffitte was on trial facing charges of conspiracy to commit wire and bank fraud, bank fraud, wire fraud, and three counts of misapplication of bank funds.
Laffitte will remain out of jail on bond without objection from federal prosecutors. Judge Gergel notes Laffitte has been compliant so far on bond.

"People I still care about and I still did them this way." He can think a lot about people and still do horrible things to them......murder?

I bet each person remembers the specifics even if AM doesn't

  • #812
But he can remember which dog peed on which tree

  • #813
So you hurt people you care about Alex. Direct from his mouth!! Dude has no idea what he's saying!

  • #814
He practiced his answer but didn’t know he would have to answer to each person he wronged. Good for the state—say their names—they are important.
Yes! SAY THEIR NAMES!

AM is notorious for apologizing about everything. Watch the videos. Listen to the calls. IMO, AM thinks he can just say he is sorry, like he is sitting in a confessional booth with a priest, and be absolved of all his sins.

It is also very telling that he is trying to protect RL given his FEDERAL CONVICTION and appeal that is currently ongoing.

He knows he is going to Prison, but I have heard he is Hoping to got to Federal Prison(a cake walk), rather than General Population, where he deserves to be for he rest of his slimy life. He cares about No one but Himself!

Am over AM's robotic responses.

I hope those that just want them to get to the murders understands that the defense would like nothing more than to fluff over these crimes and claim they are not related. We don't live in a bubble and when looking at motive for these crimes, this is a huge part of it. He was living one big lie. His entire life was a big lie. His family didn't know he was stealing, he was losing control of all the lies, he was on pills AGAIN and his wife found them.. his son told him that... it was all coming to a head and add in the boat case and his dad dying.. it was all crashing down around Alex and he lived the lie with no cares in the world until he saw no way out and he killed his family. It is relevant. The defense wants us to believe he got on the stand and is now truthful because he admits to stealing the money now. He shows no remorse, doesn't even remember them because lying was so normal for him, he could do it without any regret any worry or fear of being exposed. Then he was exposed that day on June 7th and he went home and the solution he came up with was to kill Paul to make the boat case go away and to kill Maggie so he could have all the property and all the shared assets and so just maybe he could get sympaty enough to worm his way out of the financial crimes he had been committing and keep taking his pills and living his big lie of a life.

"I did them this way.'

I swear he said something similar regarding his own son.

Just a few minutes ago DH was texting with someone and then talking and showing it to JG and texting back...someone is keeping them advised of juror reactions (interested, bored, etc) and someone is also keeping them advised of online polls and most probably what's being said on these boards.
