Friendly reminder from 2/28/2023:

The jury is coming back in. Judge Newman tells them we are done for the day, but when they return tomorrow morning, they will be escorted to Moselle.

Newman: While you are on the way to the scene and from the scene, you are not allowed to discuss the case with anyone, including fellow jurors. While there, you can’t ask anyone any questions, including law enforcement. If you have any questions, you can only ask me.

Newman: After seeing Moselle, we will have closing arguments. Then I will instruct you as to the law you are to apply, and then you will begin deliberations.

Newman: “It has been a year and a half or more since June 7, 2021, since the alleged crime occurred. Things have most likely changed. We’re in a different season of the year.” You will have to keep that in mind as you consider what you see.

Jury is dismissed for the day.

His point?
"It was the drugs. It's not my fault."

Yes, that’s exactly what he’s angled for. He wants everyone to see that he is a good person outside of the drugs. It gives him the ability to separate himself from the bad acts.

Not sure Randy would have helped Alex, also he’ll probably be there in the financial crimes trial.
Jmo

In the elder Murdaugh's suit, it is alleged that prior to Sept. 2, 2021, Alex indicated to his brother that needed a loan to cover an overdrawn bank account and that he had already written other checks, including checks to workers, which would make the account more overdrawn. The "Defendant did not disclose that he was in poor financial condition," the suit says.

The Murdaugh suit also states that Randy loaned $75,000 to his younger brother, under the condition that the loan be repaid within 30 days, but the defendant has not repaid the loan. The suit also alleges that Randy later paid the initial fee of $15,000 to enter Alex into a drug treatment facility in Orange County, Florida.

I read in article that thinks RM sued AM as a way for Alex to move money, hide it from the lawsuits. If you are not in poor financial condition, then why are you asking for a loan? No savings, too over extended? Moo

Look up Duffie Stone, I don’t think Alec had any fear of being held accountable. Their family had run that county and surrounding counties for over a century.
I agree about the lack of thought of technology. I just don’t think he’s as bright as he thinks he is. He did leave his phone at the house when he went to the kennels but did not think beyond that. Moo
I agree about his lack of thought about technology. As you said his 'tech strategy' was to leave his phone at the house, do the deed, and then hustle back to the house and start bulking up his phone activity to prove his fake alibi. That's why he constantly said to LE, right from the start, "hey, please look at the phones activity! Have you gotten the phone results back yet?"
I don't think OnStar entered his thinking. I believe he overlooked that. And, of course, it would have likely worked except for that darn video of Paul's.

He was so fast in order to support his first alibi, that it has now put in him a pinch time-wise for his new alibi to be believable.

I assume ready in case AM contradicted important info in the phone calls. Isn’t she the one who slipped him the book? Can you imagine how much information CW and his team had to go through and be prepared with, it’s mind-boggling. Moo

Some day I would LOVE to see all the discovery in this case.

My husband has brought up a good thought

How many of these folks in Colleton County (people, much less LE, all levels of Justice, everyday folks included)—-just how many have been influenced or bought by AM over the years? For all we know he has “made loans”, pressured people and/or created on environment for years in which people feel like they “owe” him

Makes me worry even more

Second, didnt they have ADT security? Am guessing the cameras were off during that evening? I saw ADT sign by the brick gate entrance

"....I would never INTENTIONALLY hurt my wife and my son...."

Easy to seperate yourself from the behavior when you have something to blame it on. MOO

I agree on every point made.
The point I can’t get past is the cell phone video with AM’s voice in the background. If he admitted he was there, and not lied about it, I might be able to find reasonable doubt. Come on! Who lies when they are innocent and their son and wife are murdered??? He had to know he would be considered a suspect regardless, so why, if innocent, would he lie about being there? Jmo

At that point, he didn't know about the cellphone video.
The video wasn't discovered until almost a year later when experts finally unlocked PM's cellphone and found it.
He lied about being there because it was part of his alibi and he would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for that pesky kid. JMO.

Im hoping the only reason the jury finds him guilty is because they believe beyond a reasonable doubt he is in fact guilty. And I agree, I feel everything that has happened will hopefully remove the power this family holds over the community. I’ve yet to hear anything really positive or encouraging about one family member who shares that name.
I totally agree, and I want them to find him guilty because of this case alone. I'm hoping no one on the jury is too frightened of this family to find him guilty.

Unless there has been jury tampering I see this as a guilty verdict by end of day Friday. JMO.

Beaufort County property tax records show Murdaugh co-owns the eight St. Helena Island properties with Barrett T. Boulware.

The properties are small tracts of land ranging in size from less than an acre to more than 20 acres of land. Some of the properties are listed as islands that are only accessible by boat. Several of the properties lack any structures or buildings.

The eight properties join the Murdaugh family beach house on Edisto Island which News 2 recently reported thousands of dollars are owed on.

Timeline: See Alex Murdaugh’s Ties To Alleged Drug Smuggler Who Owned Moselle

Perhaps some properties are over valued for certain needs, and under valued for others? Difference for example between worth, borrowing capability, and tax considerations? IMO.

As if to say if AM wasn't on drugs all the destruction he created would have never happened including killing family members IMO. Drugs are just another diversion from showing the man he really is and AM has had the "All about me" mindset I believe long before he started to gobble up pills. there are those out there that refuse to connect the simple dots that have led up to the killings which involve the phone record timelines, videos and believe AM had to have help in the killings or he had left missing the assassins that came in killed MM and PM. To each their own and all theories are welcomed as always but darn AM just smells of bad mojo and dirty deeds and one would think if AM had help he would have thrown them under his save self bus by now, he's thrown everyone else under it.
