I have suspicions that the buyer is related to the M's in some way. JMO
But what value would it be to M's?

AM is never going to see beyond his cell window for the remainder of his life. Buster does not want anything to do with Moselle. JMM has his own hunting lodge and property (Greenfields) near his parent's place, and I suspect if RM doesn't have his own property and lodge, he'd want nothing connected to AM. This was PM's paradise and he's dead. JMO

BBM from the article.

"..In the months after the murders, Murdaugh put Moselle on the market and it is currently under offer for a $3.9m bid from a mystery buyer.

The property was first listed in February 2022 – eight months after Maggie and Paul’s murders and five months before Murdaugh was charged with them – under a new name of Cross Swamp Farm.

It was later changed back to Moselle Farm.

According to the listing by the Crosby Land Co. of Colleton County, Moselle consists of 1,772 acres of “an unusually diverse habitat with varying forest types and age class distribution”.

“The landscape includes productive pine plantations, open fallow fields, and mature stands of mixed pine/hardwood, those upland regions give way to the flat bottomland of the Salkehatchie River Basin,” it reads.

“The property boasts over 2.5 miles of river frontage, offering freshwater fishing, kayaking, and abundant deer, turkey, and waterfowl populations.”

The family home was built in 2011 and consists of four bedrooms and 3.5 baths, meaning it could “easily be converted into a weekend hunting lodge with the capability to sleep up to 15 people”, the listing reads.

“This is truly a top-tier property, complete with all the improvements and amenities one would expect from a high-end sporting property with little or no deferred maintenance cost,” it reads.

A buyer – said to be a local landowner – put in an offer in June 2022. But the sale was put on hold when Murdaugh was accused of trying to offload his assets to avoid paying up in a string of lawsuits he is facing, prompting a court to freeze his assets.."
The guy who owned it was a Drug Runner/Smuggler, and AM represented him in Court. I think perhaps the original owner may have paid Alex off with the property, OR at least Alex bought it. In any case, apparently there are docks on that river, making it easy for boats to Dock for Drug Running business. The original owner died some years ago. MOO

With Murdaugh’s Conviction, a Century of Influence Unravels

When Alex Murdaugh was convicted of murdering his wife and son, some South Carolinians saw the verdict as a step toward dismantling a system of power “based on who you know.”

Across the chasms of race and class that have long divided and defined South Carolina, Alex Murdaugh appeared in the life of Pamela Pinckney at her darkest moment, offering to help.

It was 2009. Mr. Murdaugh, a white man, was a personal injury lawyer and the scion of a storied multigenerational legal dynasty that held sway for decades over a five-county swath of the Lowcountry. Ms. Pinckney, a Black woman, was in the hospital. She and her children had been on their way to a dollar store when her SUV flipped, resulting in serious spinal injuries to her 19-year-old son, Hakeem, that rendered him quadriplegic.

Mr. Murdaugh sued the manufacturer of the tires on the SUV, eventually winning the family a substantial settlement.

Then Mr. Murdaugh quietly stole hundreds of thousands of dollars that the family was owed.
“He seemed to be a nice person,” Ms. Pinckney said. “But looks are very much deceiving.”
Ms. Pinckney was only one of his victims. Mr. Murdaugh’s long, cruel and largely low-profile run of what prosecutors said was multi-million-dollar embezzlement and theft exploded into one of the most widely documented American crime stories of the decade as Mr. Murdaugh, 54, went on trial over the past six weeks for the murder of his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul. Podcasters, reporters and TV producers rushed to South Carolina to tell a Shakespearean story of filicide, anchored by a main character whose button-down shirts seem to cover a terrifying moral void.

Is there a column for Big Fat Envelope Stuffed with Cash?
Donations from Business people are the norm, in case one needs a favor, or just be able to get to meet, visit Offices. My own Brother, when in the Pharma Biz, would donate to both Parties. Not my area at all, but interesting and weird I think. I think the Parties are not all in agreement across the country, as values and money have some different priorities it seems. OTOH, there is Jeffrey Epstein, and all those on his Lists...EWW! MOO

I get the suicide clause and the waiting period on policies, I was thinking that he originally said someone tried to kill him because of a double indemnity and that's where he got the $10M figure. He quickly went with his misunderstanding of the suicide clause when he knew the attempted murder by an unknown gunman wasn't going to fly and then said the amount of the policy is $12M. What I'm curious about now is the insurance fraud charge for this roadside incident. There must be an actual policy or he wouldn't be charged with fraud so did he think that he wouldn't be convicted of fraud if it was only a plan?
moo
With all the lies he has told, he may have been so desperate, he grabbed at straws for an excuse. So messed up. I wonder why no Insurance Company/Adjuster would not have come forward with a Policy? Perhaps because he wasn't dead, or didn't want to get involved? MOO

Is there listed a donation amount to the Harpootlian campaign?

IMO he would gladly part with other peoples cash for past 'favors', current 'favors' and future 'favors' for his sole benefit. I also believe he would trade dope for 'favors' when necessary. I agree with you that he would, legally or otherwise, grip fiercely, hold onto tightly and protect in any way he possibly could that which he considered his.

His was in a political, and powerful, position. You have to pay to play that game. He donated to both parties (at least in SC), or so I've read.
IMO I have absolutely no doubt that AM pulled on every lever he could that would consolidate his access to power.

Legal donations to politicians, and likely money under the table, as well.

He was enriching himself at the cost of clients who truly were in need of the money they won, and with his ill-gotten gains, I’m certain he greased a lot of palms along the way.

SOMEONE had to pay for JG and DH. I hope his family didn’t pay. At the moment I don’t fault Randy, because as far as we know he didn’t play the Murdaugh card the way the rest of them did. I know Randy is the Randolph namesake, but as of now IMO he’s a better guy than the rest.

I have to wonder if, like Many Mob like groups (even terrorists in other countries), there will be someone to take AM's place in the Dirty Business(es) he was able to get away with. I feel there is still Much to be uncovered, and much that may never be discovered as well. I fear this may be larger than just AM and his local cronies. MOO

I see AM and Epstein in the same lineup, but for different crimes. Connections is the name of the game.

Epstein: “I invest in people — be it politics or science. It’s what I do,” he has said to friends.

Nice to see her face outside of her Court Reporting Mask:) I admire this Judge soo much. I wish there were more honest, admirable people overall in the Justice System, and certainly in the government. It broke my heart that his son died so young and close to the trial. What an amazing man. I heard his Daughter is also a Judge:) Good family, and he himself has a very interesting history, as he was born in Segregated SC, and forged ahead magnificently. MOO

most attorneys that have given opinions on this juror's connection to witness say they would never have put him on the jury. I do see the point about him being a major influence in that jury room.
Young, intelligent, good listener, and he wasn't the Foreperson. Sounded like they got along very well, and actually listened to each other. I appreciate their patience and adherence to the gravity of the difficult task they were assigned.

I think the idea of being personally on the hook was eating away at him. MM hand-wringing about the potential exposure must have made him furious. He probably felt less stress with her at Moselle less but it made it more likely that she would move on from him. I tend to think that he was more indifferent to MM. And, he was enraged at PM for dismantling his schemes through his behavior. PM shone a bright light on the family and the ways that the family continually rescued him. PM's trial and the AM exposure in lawsuits meant that margin for felony error got really tight for AM. I think AM was enraged at PM for his part in undoing AM's illegal empire.
I agree with you. most assuredly with the boat crash. just another layer that he would not be able to get out of...knowing he is now on his way of being exposed by his firm. he was boxed in.

so many time during this trial, I couldn’t help but look at AM’s facial expressions and say to myself “AM is asking himself ‘how did they know this??!’, ‘How do they know this?!’” It’s my opinion That so much of what occurred that evening was accurately explained by the prosecution during this trial and AM was floored! Of course this is only my opinion!
