Yes, court clerks have time to fabricate FB posts....

I think the defense team is working hard to muddy the water as much as they can, using everyone's sincere commitment to preserve jury integrity as a weapon.

According to his legal team, who filed a 65-page motion on Tuesday, Hill told the jury “not to believe Murdaugh’s testimony and other evidence presented by the defense, pressuring them to reach a quick guilty verdict, and even misrepresenting critical and material information to the trial judge in her campaign to remove a juror she believed to be favorable to the defense.”

Murdaugh's attorneys also claimed the Colleton County clerk "invented a story about a Facebook post to remove a juror she believed might not vote guilty."

“Ms. Hill had frequent private conversations with the jury foreperson, a Court-appointed substitution for the foreperson the jury elected for itself at the request of Ms. Hill. During the trial, Ms. Hill asked jurors for their opinions about Mr. Murdaugh’s guilt or innocence," the motion stated.

I've lost all respect for Jim Griffin and Dick Harpootlian, especially JG after his own latest debacle, he needs to be sanctioned too IMO. He's riding the Murdaugh blood money train just like everyone else. Like he didn't know he couldn't record AM on an Attorney/Client Privileged call??? Please....

<snipped>

Prison officials found Griffin recorded Murdaugh, who read excerpts from a journal he kept while standing trial earlier this year for killing his wife, Maggie Murdaugh, and younger son, Paul, in 2021.

Griffin intended to use information from the recordings for a three-part Fox docuseries titled “The Fall of the House of Murdaugh,” which featured an interview with Murdaugh’s surviving son, Buster, according to a report.

“Your actions, whether you intended or not, assisted Mr. Murdaugh in violating our policy and could jeopardize your telephonic communications with him in the future,” said Dennis Patterson, SCDOC assistant deputy director of operations, in an email to Griffin dated Aug. 30.

Just what I stated in my post: claimed four jurors gave sworn statements (affidavits) when they only had two affidavits from jurors, and one was a dismissed juror.

I wonder where the money/favor/backscratching trail starts . . . .

IMO, the defense knew the dismissed juror would be willing to talk and did so -- even if it meant contradicting her previous statements to the Court. The dismissed juror also seems to have an ax to grind with the Clerk and I think the defense exploited this to their advantage. But a fabricated FB post, really?

Add Juror #630 who wants to play the victim (i.e., felt pressured to vote guilty) to the mix, and that gives DH/JG a ball to kick around (i.e., two juror affidavits).

We can't ignore that the two jurors are being represented by DH's buddy Joe McCulloch. Wonder who arranged that introduction? I'll give you two guesses!

And to be clear, while I don't think it a good look for an acting Court Clerk to author/profit from a book while in office-- that's a far cry from jury tampering! MOO

Anyone know if Fox Nation did use the recording of AM in their program?

I told my husband at dinner last night, "Even OJ said he was looking for the real killer. He didn't, but he said he was." Buster, Maggie & Paul's closest relative, never mentions that he or the family is diligently trying to find who did this. If AM is innocent and the family believes he is, get out there and do everything you can to find who murdered your momma and sister-in-law. Maggie's family knows who killed them and believes (like I do) that he now sits behind bars.

I haven't watched it (I don't know if it has even aired yet). Maybe someone here can answer that?

Side eyeing all of the journalists, podcasters and attorneys who retweeted links to her book.

No matter how this turns out, Hill's over-eagerness for the limelight was a bit unseemly. jmo

If I have to listen to that man talk about Paw Paw again as if he didn’t viciously murder his own son in cold blood for personal gain, I will lose my sh**

If there is another trial, I hope it's not televised.

From the egg juror in camera transcript:

THE COURT: I'm not too pleased about the clerk interrogating a juror as opposed to coming to me and bringing it to me.

Same.

Implying the court clerk was responsible for the Court substituting Juror #826 as foreperson after the Jurors had elected a foreperson is completely false!

Judge Newman made it clear that in his court, he appoints the jury foreperson, not the jurors.

From the trial transcript on Feb 16, 2023, part 2 (after lunch), Day 19 of the trial:

9:03
he's very good welcome back ladies and gentlemen I have appointed
9:08
journeyman 826 to serve as the four person of the jury in various places and various States
9:17
it's done differently in some places the jury selects a four-person it's my
9:25
practice to a a point a four-person fact that a person is appointed as
9:32
four-person does not give that jury juror any more Authority than any other
9:40
juror all Jew ORS [jurors] are equal participant and and each juror has an equal voice in
9:48
the process and um well certainly um
9:54
welcome you to this role as four person and look for all of you to continue with
10:01
your role in the process and from now through the end
10:07
and with that we will have the state call this next Witness thank you honor may please Accord the

While officially Murdaugh is being detained in an "undisclosed" maximum security location, it has been widely reported that he is being held at the state prison in McCormick, S.C., and recent federal court filings confirm that.

[..]

According to prison officials, Murdaugh provided media interview information to one of his attorneys through a legal call. Legal calls are not recorded or monitored on the inmate phone system per attorney/client privilege. Attorney Jim Griffin recorded Murdaugh reading the information, entries from the inmate's daily journal, and provided it to the media, stated the SCDC.

[..]

According to the release, Murdaugh's recorded statements were then provided by Griffin to Fox Nation for its docuseries, "The Fall of the House of Murdaugh," that released Thursday, Aug. 31, a day after Murdaugh's charges were announced.

According to a Fox Nation news release, their three-hour, three-part series includes exclusive, first-time interviews with Murdaughs's surviving son, Richard "Buster" Murdaugh Jr., as well as "exclusive access to Alex Murdaugh’s defense team Dick Harpootlian and Jim Griffin, behind-the-scenes footage before and during the trial, never-before-seen home movies, as well as intimate prison revelations from Alex himself."

[..]

Alexandra Coscia, a spokesperson for Fox Nation, declined to comment on the prison violations, deferring the matter to Murdaugh's attorneys, but did confirm that the docuseries went live on Thursday.

The docuseries was originally slated to be released in mid-September, but Fox bumped up the release date to Aug. 31. It is unclear if this move was related to the prison violations, however.

[..]

According to SCDC policy, inmates in their custody are not allowed to do interviews for legitimate reasons - to protect victims.

"SCDC’s interview policy is rooted in victims’ rights and is longstanding," stated the SCDC release. "The department believes that victims of crime should not have to see or hear the person who victimized them or their family member on the news. Inmates lose the privilege of speaking to the news media when they enter SCDC."
