So hard to believe it's already been 4 years. Wow.

I wonder if things would have turned around eventually for Paul or would he have continued on his path of destruction and entitlement?

Would Maggie have stayed married to AM? Does AM feel any true, genuine remorse for their murders or is he just PO'd that he is spending the rest of his active life incarcerated? I wonder how he is faring behind bars? He probably has a whole 'system' in place where he is the Big Boss Man, his ego and entitlement knows no bounds IMO.

So many what ifs.

FitsNews is (irresponsibly) hyping up some of AM's text messages not show in court. But they are all a big nothing imo. The defense would have had access to all the messages anyway.

FitsNews ain’t what it used to be.
It’s creeping closer and closer to the National Inquirer.

That seems like a really long time. My husband passed in Jan 2021 and it was 2-3 months. I wonder what the problem was. They don’t look especially ornate or a fancy type of stone.
They look like nice stones in my opinion.

I agree, they are nice. I think I was just expecting something very ostentatious or grandiose with the amount of time it took. But maybe they spent all their money on AM’s defense.

I caught a few minutes of their YT last night with Reporter Jenn Wood, and she was throwing SLED Agent David Owen under the bus-- alleging that he would personally select the texts that were forwarded to the parties-- hence the missing texts! Did she really think the public would believe SLED hand picked Discovery? SMH...

Robert Kittle, communications director for the Attorney General's Office, said that he could not comment on exactly when the AG would file, but added that the response would likely not be filed until the final day of the extension, August 8.

Once the State responds, what's next in Murdaugh's appeal?

Kittle outlined the next legal steps once the AG's office files its response:
  • After the response brief is filed, the appellant, Murdaugh, will have 10 days to file a reply brief, unless they, too, seek extensions.
  • Once Murdaugh's reply brief is filed, his legal team will have 30 days to prepare the "record on appeal." In a Supreme Court appeal, the record on appeal is a compilation of all the essential documents, exhibits, and transcripts from the lower court trial that are relevant to the appeal and will serve as the factual basis upon which the Supreme Court will review the lower court's decision.
  • Once this step is completed, the parties each have 20 days to put together their final briefs.
  • At that point, the case is "ripe for consideration by the Court," said Kittle, at which time the high court may or may not schedule oral arguments.
  • It is unclear if the Supreme Court will consider the case in late 2025 or sometime in 2026.

Every time I read something about BM's appeal on his murder conviction I would like to figuratively ring BH's neck. All because of her selfish stupidity and need for fame. GAAAAAH! 🤬

“The jury convicted Murdaugh because he was obviously guilty, not because three jurors heard Becky Hill’s ‘foolish and fleeting’ comments,” prosecutors wrote.
“Furthermore, the trial judge did not abuse his broad discretion by admitting the financial crime evidence,” they wrote.
Also, Murdaugh’s lawyers failed to properly appeal their objections to that evidence, thereby waiving any objection to the admission of that evidence, they wrote. A failure to object by defense lawyers opened the door for the prosecution to get before the jury evidence about Murdaugh’s character and his motives for killing his wife and son, they wrote.

The state’s response, signed by attorney general Alan Wilson and a team of senior prosecutors, marks its first comprehensive rebuttal to those claims. It paints a radically different picture: one in which Hill’s alleged remarks were “foolish and fleeting” but legally insignificant – attesting the verdict was “solely the product of the jury’s honest deliberations” after hearing “overwhelming evidence” of Murdaugh’s guilt.

Prosecutors frame the appeal not as a quest for justice, but rather an attempt to sidestep a damning evidentiary record — one built on Murdaugh’s own lies (including his voice being captured on a videojust minutes before the killings) as well as a forensic timeline that left no room for an alternative suspect.

Gee, thanks, BH. Hope you got all of the attention you wanted. Now this family annihilator will get a new trial.
