So the comments on two different SC missing people pages on Facebook are interesting.

From what I've gleaned from missing persons information prior to the discovery of the burn pile, Ruth was recently in Florida (Orlando specifically) and was traveling back to SC where she is from. The missing posters said she might be in danger. This makes me wonder whether she was traveling voluntarily .

LE indicated there was more than 1 victim in the burn pile so there is the possibility that the boyfriend could have been killed too...I guess we have to continue to wait for DNA results to be published.

i can't find Ruth or Nathan's social media...

From what I've read, the mobile home where the burn pile was discovered is actually Ruth's residence.

Hello everyone. Thank you WonderMore for posting news about Ruth onto this forum. I have been lurking here for years but this case in particular made me join as it is close to my heart. I was a family friend of Ruth and I am devastated to learn she has passed away in this manner.

Ruth had an infectious personality and an equally infectious laugh and won the hearts of the people whom she came across. She was also an animal lover. She would often adopt stray dogs and cats whom she doted on as if they were also her children.

In regards to Ruth and Nathan, Ruth had many arguments with this man though she claimed that he never hit her. She actually left him twice and we begged her not to go back yet she would return to South Carolina to pick up the rest of her things or what have you.

We believe Nathan was very possessive of Ruth. He would not allow relatives to visit her. Her family suspects he may have had possession of her phone at times. Calls to her phone would go to voicemail and it would be weeks to a month until she would get back in touch. The pictures on Flickr confirm how isolated she truly was though she always reassured us she was happy and that she loved South Carolina.

Ruth was an affectionate mother, daughter, and sister. I loved Ruth very much and I will miss her. Please help us find justice for Ruth. The person of interest Nathan Smith (if he is still alive) may be in Waco, Texas, London, Ohio, or even South Carolina. If you have any info please contact the McCormick Police Department.

Yes, her online activities do seem to reflect isolation. That is truly upsetting.

You listed quite a few possible locations for Nathan. Does he have connections in all those places? Also, what is his financial situation like, and what does he do for a living?

Thank you WonderMore. Yes, I find it so ironic that she appeared so isolated because she was an individual who loved socializing and had lots of friends. Regarding the locations, I did a search on Nathan and those are the locations that came up. I know that Ruth also mentioned he was from Texas and that he also lived in Ohio.

Sallyeye818-According to the anthropologist, the second individual appears to be in their late 40s to 50 years old so we suspect that the second individual may be Nathan. I do not know what his financial situation was like but I understand that he owned a business (AQM Inc. according to the Facebook) so he may have been a bit well off but not rich.

Hi new to this site. I am 1st cousin of Nathan Smith. Sadly his son is involved somehow and I wont go into details but DNA test are being done now to see if the other remains are Nathan Smith. His son recently begin trying to have a relationship with him, so has the daughter. Dont know how his son got caught up in all this. But it is baffling to all of us.
