I hope this is a copy cat! Doesn't sound like the other events that we've had. I know the area, can only imagine the cluster the traffic is!

Hope it’s not today’s nut-of-the-day.
I’m listening on my own scanner and most of the talk has been trying to re-route traffic, a true nightmare. It’s very quiet right now though.
We live in SC and my younger son works in Greenville at a local TV station.
Yea, I’m paying attention.

McMaster said this is out of an abundance of caution due to a bomb threat issued during a traffic stop by SC Transport Police.

Lt. Ryan Flood of the Greenville County Sheriff's Office said around 6 p.m. that Greenville County SWAT and bomb squad members are on scene assisting the SC State Transport Police who requested assistance following a traffic stop just after 3:30 p.m.

"We are working in conjunction with the State Transport Police after a threat of a potential hazardous device was reported. We are working diligently to ensure the scene is safe and get traffic moving as quick as possible," Flood added.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division's bomb squad is on scene assisting the situation.

South Carolina Highway Patrol said "I-85 Northbound and Southbound in Greenville County is closed near Mile Marker 44 due to an active incident. Both sides of the interstate are closed until further notice.

SCDOT originally reported the incident as a hazardous materials spill, but is now calling it a crash.

Law enforcement is only calling this an active incident.

So it’s over and it was nothing?

What would be the point of blowing up your truck on an empty highway?

the "holidays" have a bad effect on some people IMO

We need more details. LE said the truck had been cleared but they never said if the “suspicious package” was a bomb they disarmed or a nothing at all.
If it was nothing, that driver needs some serious jail time; causing such a mess and wasting LE resources for nothing at all. Not funny at all.

The driver of the truck, a man from Illinois, reportedly told the officer there was an explosive device inside the vehicle. At that point, the interstate was shut down in that area, an the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, SLED and the FBI responded to the scene to help investigate.

Ultimately there was no bomb found on the truck and I-85 was reopened at 7:45 p.m., about 5 hours after the incident first began. The Department of Public Safety said details about the driver, including his name and pending charges, would be released Friday

Supposedly, the truck was pulled over because it had no license plate on it.
A bond hearing is scheduled for this morning. I couldn’t find where it was being streamed.
Hopefully details on the suspect will come out shortly after that.
The no license plate thing causes me a lot of concerned.

How many red flags can you spot in this information?
Considering the recent event in New Orleans shouldn’t they at least keep him a few days to thoroughly check him out.
I’m pretty steamed about him getting a surety bond.

Edit: removed information not mentioned in article

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) confirmed that a South Carolina Transport Police officer pulled over 28-year-old Ahmad Jamal Khamees Alhendi of Oak Lawn, Illinois, due to a missing license plate around 2:45 p.m.

SCDPS said Alhendi then "indicated that there was an explosive device inside the commercial vehicle." The subsequent law enforcement response forced the closure of all six lanes of I-85 near mile marker 44 in Greenville County. Lanes didn't reopen until after 7:30 p.m.
Alhendi's arrest warrant states that he was attempting to intimidate the officer

In Friday's update, investigators said Alhendi was charged with breach of peace of a high and aggravated nature, conveying false information about a bomb threat and operating or permitting an unregistered vehicle.

Authorities said the tractor-trailer was registered to Globe Transportation in Illinois.

Alhendi has not posted bond and is being held under an ICE detainer.
Thank goodness.

Why do you think this incident is being largely ignored by the national media?
