SC - South Carolina Prosecutor Arrested On Attempted Murder, Multiple Child Abuse Charges, Oct 2021 *Guilty, no jail*

  • #21
Something drastic must have happened for her to get up the courage to go to the police seeing as she had lived with so much terror for so long. Those children are lucky they have not suffered brain damage. Although they must have psychological damage after all that. Someone was surely going to die if this wasn't reported. MOO
1. I’m clapping over here on the east coast for her, that she finally had the strength and the courage to come forward. (From one survivor to another. Good for you girlfriend! Soooo proud of you!!!!)
2. Everyone incurred damage. Emotional, mental, psychological. And I wouldn’t be surprised if (other) brain damage did occur.
3. I hate even typing this last one...there could have been death that is not known to us, in her womb. Depending on the quantity of attacks as well as the severity of each, she could’ve lost a baby in utero. I hope not, but it is possible.

Gentle hugs from here.

If I understood the original article correctly, he was filmed choking both of them.

I wonder if they had cameras inside the house for 'security' & she was able to use that footage to share as evidence? Otherwise she would have had to set up her phone secretly to record? Just thinking about that makes me nauseus. MOO

Wed in 2015 and 4 kids so quick.
7,6, 4 and 3 year old.
Did the sudden family bring on added stress in the marriage? What in the h*ll happened?

Incident in 2018 when one of the sons was three years old....did he apologize profusely for that horrible abuse? Did she believe it wouldn’t happen again? I’d be scared to have any more children after that! Or did he insist on having more children? Such horrors. :(
He must have turned into a monster shortly after they were married.
He needs a hot iron to his privates.
JMO

Sudden family bringing on added stress = 100% not an explanation for his behavior.

I KNOW that you are not implying this and are trying to understand the senseless violence against little children and his chosen partner (aren't we all... And we should!).
I just think it's so important to be clear that even with extreme stress (be it financial, familial, emotional) where there are a range of unproductive, unhealthy responses, violently attacking children and spouse is nowhere on that spectrum.

Cameras set up inside their home? Did they run continuously and video stored somewhere? Hard drive, cloud?
What was the purposes of having multiple cameras set up inside of the home?
(Other than point of entry/exits)
Used for part of varied social media sites?
I’m so glad she was finally able to go to the police.

"Mims, who goes by Justin, and his wife are going through divorce proceedings that began in early 2020, Schwartz told Law&Crime. They have four children.

[...]

Schwartz said that by all accounts, Sims was well-regarded among his peers.

“I guess Ted Bundy was a nice guy, too, to his victims,” Schwartz told local ABC affiliate WCIV.

Schwartz explained what he meant by that to Law&Crime.

“I’ve never met him, but I have friends, lawyers I know, who grew up with him,” Schwartz said. “They were shocked, they didn’t see it coming. That’s what the general consensus is—he’s a standup dad, at least on the internet, Instagram, Facebook, and all that.”

Gee, isn't every DAD a stand up guy on social media? Any father who treats his wife and children the way he's been alleged as doing isn't a dad.

It's possible he set them up to watch every move they made while he wasn't home to have something to punish them for when he got home. MOO Just a thought.

Oh my gosh, divorce proceedings started early last year. Start of Covid. Were they still living together in the same house?
The youngest is just one year old. :(

100%, stress does not create the violence, it may open the door though to let out what was already there. You don’t abuse your wife and children unless that was already inside you. MOO

I think I'm going to refrain from reading the details. Thanks everyone for the warnings. Looking at his picture fills me with rage. I hope she and the children can eventually heal enough to start to enjoy life again.

<modsnip of off topic details> ... Horrific abuse during formative years usually has profound negative consequences later on. I hope they can overcome their tragic starts in life.
