Her boyfriend, Michael E. Culbreth, 46, of 401 New Hope Park, reported her missing on Aug. 10. Taber had left their residence to walk down to the Big Bear to get a pack of cigarettes three days before, and he had not seen her after that day, he told officials.

She also was entered as an "endangered/missing person" on a national database, said Lt. Ron Gahagan of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.

She had never stayed out all night before, and had told him that if she was not back in an hour that something was wrong, according to the report. She also has never traveled outside Cherokee, Spartanburg or Rutherford, N.C., counties, according to a memo from the Sheriff's Office. He told deputies he thought he saw someone who looked like her in the back seat of a red car with two men and that she looked beat up, the report said.
