Tommy Brailey, 52, hasn’t been seen since early Aug. 25, according to public information officer Tonyia M. McGirt. Family members and co-workers are concerned about his well being and said it is highly unusual for Brailey to not report to work or call family members.

Brailey was last seen at 2 a.m. leaving Brewers Bar & Grill, on 160 E. Wesmark Blvd., according to McGirt, adding Brailey was wearing jeans and a Continental Tires polo shirt.

His vehicle, a silver 2004 four-door 325i BMW with S.C. License Tag LYB406, also has not been seen.

The missing man's sister said their family has set up a $2,000 reward for information that leads to her brother.

The search has been assisted by several vehicles, including ATVs, a helicopter from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and a plane from the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, Banghart said.

He said the trail is harder to track than other cases because of how abruptly Brailey went missing.

Banghart said camera footage from the bar shows Brailey leave the building, get into his*silver 2004 BMW 325i with S.C. license tag LYB 406*and turn out of the parking lot, confirming he left the bar and did not appear to be followed.

To add to the mystery, there has been no activity from his bank account or his cellphone. Foul play has been neither officially suspected nor ruled out. No solid leads have been developed.

Banghart said information about Brailey's car has been submitted into law enforcement and community databases but that there have been no matches.

Details of Disappearance
Brailey was last seen leaving Brewer's Bar & Grill in the 100 block of Wesmark Boulevard in Sumter, South Carolina on August 25, 2017. He had gone out that night with coworkers and left at 2:00 a.m. to make the fifteen-minute drive home.

He was driving a silver BMW 325i with the South Carolina license plate number LYB406 and a chrome Pittsburgh Steelers vanity plate on the front. A photo of a similar car is posted with this case summary.

Brailey never arrived home and has never been heard from again, and his vehicle has also not been located. His loved ones don't believe he would have left of his own accord, because this was uncharacteristic of his behavior and because he had just purchased tickets for a football game on August 31; he planned to attend the game with his family and friends.

There hasn't been any activity on Brailey's phone or financial accounts since his disappearance. His case remains unsolved.

'Find our missing': A march and vigil held for loved ones missing from Sumter County

NOV 15, 2022
[...]

“This all started for me Dec. 26, 2020, when my son went missing,” she told the crowd.

Brown’s son, Jackson “Brent” Garcia, was 18 when he was last seen. That day changed the lives of many who were determined to never let his name, or 19 others, be forgotten.

“After Brent went missing, we put on a candlelight vigil, and at that candlelight vigil is when I had the idea that I wanted to do a vigil for all of the missing people in Sumter,” Brown said. “We then formed a little group called Sumter’s Missing and Brent’s Army.”

The memorial site ended up taking nearly two years to complete. The group went from council to council, asking for a piece of property. It wasn’t until April 2021 that Sumter County Council approved a site at 115 N. Harvin St., the location of a former Holocaust memorial that has since moved to a new home.

[...]

Several families of missing people from Sumter attended and spoke at the unveiling. Those included family members and friends of Garcia, Willie Hodge Jr., Barbara Nave, Tommy Brailey, Barbara Jenkins, Julia Bean, Naomi Collins, Stacy Lester and Shelton Sanders.

[...]

“It’s so hurtful because we don’t know. Not having an answer to where your loved one is is hurtful, and I know you all know. We all a bond in that manner,” said Robin Colston, classmate and representative for the family of Tommy Brailey. “We’re keeping the faith alive.”

Others also spoke fondly about their missing loved ones, and it was everything for which Brown and Mitchum could have hoped. It was an emotional and unfortunate circumstance they wish no one had to be in, but Brown was happy her son has been an inspiration to turn something grim into something wholesome and good.

Find the car. Find Tommy. We know where he left from. Do we have any idea where he lived or may have been headed when he left the bar?

Based on your map, is this where he was headed?

I am attaching a Youtube video from AWP. This is how they triangulate vehicles and people from known locations. If anyone has Tommy's home address, it could be helpful.

Anytime there is a missing car following a late night bar, an accident is always a possibility.

Given the bar address and TLB’s address, my guess would be Rocky Bluff Swamp (if he went N on 401). Just past where the road veers to the left.

Further north, there’s one stretch of Darlington as you approach (and then just past) 52, this time on the left - where there doesn’t appear to be a railing off beyond the shoulder.

Just a possibility. All jmo

I completely agree with the way you are thinking. While I don't want to paint with too wide of a brush, having myself left a bar at 2AM, I know the opportunity for accidents exist. I could not find TLB's address. Where can I find it?

OK, I made on post on the SPD Facebook page under the Tommy Brailey post and almost immediately got a response. According to SPD, Mr. Brailey should have been heading home to Lynchburg, SC. Routes 15N, US 401 and US76 are all possibilities.
