I'm not even shocked anymore when I see cases like this happen by female murderers.

Until I started watching ID and Dateline many years ago up to the present time... I never knew how many females do commit heinous murders. It has been an awareness eye opener for me.

What I have never gotten use to though is how diabolical and downright evil most of them are and how they methodically plan and carryout the murders.

Often they seem to have so much pleasure in watching their victims die a slow prolonged agonizing death.

It doesnt seem to matter whether they are murdering their children they see only as burdens or a spouse for financial gain or if the spouse or lover wants out of the relationship.

Over and over again they often murder their victims in some of the most gruesome ways imaginable with so many over killing their targeted victims.

Rarely do I see cases where their murders are spontaneous crimes of passion during a heated argument. Nope 99 percent of the murders they carry out are cold...methodical and totally premeditated.

It's actually scary to know there are so many of these evil women out there who are doing such chilling murders against innocent victims.

I am thankful another one has been outed. I'm glad they did this particular test to reveal what she had done.

Several cases I see seem to involve nurses or some type of caregiver.

It truly breaks my heart for all of the many dedicated nurses or caregiver I have known throughout my life who truly believe in giving the very best of care and would never ever harm anyone.

May justice be done.

She is set to appear in York County criminal court at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in front of visiting South Carolina Circuit Court Judge Paul Burch. Prosecutors and her defense lawyers declined to say what the proceedings are about or discuss the facts of the case.

No trial date has been set, court documents show. No court motions have been filed in the case since summer 2018.

On Thursday, Clayton could ask for bail, or the lawyers could make motions in the pending case. Or, she could plead guilty to the charges or reduced charges if there have been plea negotiations.

She faces 30 years to life in a South Carolina prison if convicted of murder. She could face the death penalty under South Carolina law if there is a trial, because poisoning someone to death is considered an aggravated factor in a homicide.

Thursday, January 16th:
*Preliminary Hearing (@ 9:30am ET) - SC – Stephen Delvalle Clayton (64) (July 21, 2018, Rock Hill) – *Lana Sue Clayton (52) arrested (8/31/18), charged (9/5/18) & indicted (1/17/19) with murder & unlawful malicious tampering with food.
Clayton confessed to police that she poisoned her husband’s drinks with the eye drops over 3 days. Eye drop bottles were found at the home. Clayton faces a minimum of 30 years in prison if convicted of murder. Murder in South Carolina carries up to life in prison. Because of the alleged poison, she could face the death penalty. Clayton could end up with more than one public defender if prosecutors seek the death penalty. Any person in South Carolina who faces a capital trial is entitled to two lawyers, state law shows.
10/3/18 Update: Appointed a Public Defender by Judge. Brady Motion filed. Next hearing on 1/16/20. On Thursday, Clayton could ask for bail, or the lawyers could make motions in the pending case. Or, she could plead guilty to the charges or reduced charges if there have been plea negotiations.

Did the misuse of a popular eye drop medication lead to homicide?
48 Hours Episode

DID THE MISUSE OF A POPULAR EYE DROP MEDICATION LEAD TO HOMICIDE?
Steve Clayton's family had a hunch that turned a grieving widow into the only suspect in his death.
Mar 12, 2021
[...]
Nick told "48 Hours" that just hours after Steve's death, Lana decided to have her husband's body cremated.

"She looked up from her hands and said, 'That funeral home, the one that's right down the street, let's take him there and have him cremated,'" Nick said.

When Steve's nephew Kris asked Lana for Steve's will to check it for his burial wishes, he says he was taken aback by Lana's response when she claimed Steve had no will. Kris told Lana he knew there was a will. His uncle had made him the executor.

"At that point, she stood up, turns and looks at me in the eye and says, 'I said there is no will,'" Kris told "48 Hours."

Kris was uncomfortable with the idea of cremation. Without letting Lana know, Kris and Nick called the coroner's office and demanded an autopsy and a toxicology test. Coroner Gast agreed.

The toxicology results revealed the presence of the tetrahydrozoline, a chemical Gast had never heard of before.

"I was like, what is tetrahydrozoline? I don't know what that is? I had to look up what tetrahyrozoline was," Gast told "48 Hours."

Tetrahydrozoline, also known as THZ, is a common ingredient that is found in numerous eye drops, including Visine.
