What's the next step?

  • #268
im watching live and a mistrial has not been granted yet until the jury is polled, unless there is a delay?

are you watching some feed where this has already happened?

"What's the next step?"

IF a mistrial is declared - new trial. unless they want to discuss a plea deal which i assume will not happen but you never know.

Imo, there will always be one holdout when it comes to a cop on trial, especially for murder/manslaughter - many looking for notoriety, others that can't accept the present is nowhere near the past.

A level playing field cannot be achieved if that is the case. All jmo.

jury is back .... jury confirms deadlocked

  • #272
Wow. Not deadlocked???

  • #273
mistrial not declared, further explanation of the law could help them reach a verdict according to the jury.

  • #274
jury going to deliberate more

  • #275
Wow. Foreman (?) is saying further explanation of the law will help them reach verdict.

Yes, that was the foreman speaking.

not yet, there are still several discussions and determinations to be made. the spokesman has requested that they be allowed to receive further instructions on the law and to then deliberate again. but that doesnt mean its going to happen.

State is asking judge to give dictionary definition of "passion" and defense is urging mistrial.
