SC SC - Zelig Williams, 28, needs meds, last seen at his home in Columbia, vehicle found in area of Congaree Natl Park, 3 Oct 2024

Now, a new team of volunteers is lending their expertise to the ongoing search efforts. Adam Brown, a local adventurer and founder of the nonprofit organization *Adam Brown Adventures*, has joined the search, bringing with him an experienced team of volunteers committed to locating missing persons — all at no cost to the families involved.

In a video update, Brown shared his experience navigating the difficult conditions: "There’s a lot of woods, it’s a rough area if you're getting off the trail, which I wouldn’t advise anyone to do because there’s a lot of dense vegetation, a lot of pools that look shallow but are actually very deep," Brown said. "It’s dangerous terrain."

Despite the treacherous conditions, Brown and his team pushed forward, checking small ponds, boat ramps, and the surrounding area near the Congaree River. Their efforts uncovered several unsettling findings, including multiple dead animals and debris caught in trees, further compounding the difficulties of the search.

From WACH Fox 57 a few weeks ago:
In response to the disappearance of 28-year-old Broadway star Zelig Williams, "We Are the Essentials," a nonprofit group consisting of private investigators, former law enforcement officers, and veterans, has joined the search. Williams has not been seen since Oct. 3.

I've been thinking about the SOS alert. A few sources mention that the family was able to determine that it wasn't from a crash and that's why they didn't report him missing right away.

From an October 7th article on WACH Fox 57:
Christine McLaughlin Barber, Williams' aunt, recounted the moment the family knew something was wrong. "Around 9:50 Thursday morning, he left just normally as he would," she said. "About ten minutes later, we received an SOS ping from his phone from one of his friends in New York, indicating a crash." However, upon further investigation, they discovered that it wasn't a crash, and when Williams did not return home that night, their concern deepened.

I can't find any clarification about this. How did they know it wasn't from a crash when the car hadn't yet been found? Did the friends in New York know something?

I thought articles shared that they determined he wasn’t in a crash after they found his vehicle parked and observed there to be no damage to it.

Shortly after Williams left home, friends said they got an automatic emergency notification from his iPhone minutes later. Williams’ empty car was found undamaged in an isolated parking lot for the Palmetto Trail a day after deputies determined he was driving at the nearby Congaree National Park.

According to his family, a friend received an SOS alert from Williams' phone on October 3 at approximately 10:00 AM, indicating that his phone had been involved in a crash.

Richland County Sheriff's deputies confirmed that there was no evidence of a crash, and Williams’ belongings were found inside the vehicle.

That would make the most sense, but I find it strange how it was worded in other places. If the SOS alert came at 10:10am and the family found out about it soon after, why did they not contact the police right away? I am not passing judgement at all, I just feel that we are missing a piece of information here.

There is also an SOS feature on Life360. It will alert your “inner circle” and you press the SOS purposely. It is different than when you are in an accident with LIfe360.
If he had Life360 (freeplan) it would text his circle with a text that he was in trouble.

Just another option of possibilities

The family, along with 'We Are the Essentials', will resume their search efforts on Tuesday, December 10th, at 8:30 a.m. at the Palmetto Trailhead. They are asking anyone willing to volunteer and assist with the search to join them as they continue their mission to find Zelig Williams and bring him home.

Zelig Williams

Zelig Williams, a beloved Broadway dancer, is still missing after disappearing three months ago. The dancer was first reported missing after leaving his mother’s house on Oct. 3, 2024, in his home state of South Carolina, per WIS 10. Twenty-four hours later, a deputy discovered Williams’ car abandoned in the Palmetto Trail Parking lot off Bluff Road with no trace of the entertainer.

Family members arranged official search parties throughout December 2024 for the dancer to no avail. On Thursday (Jan. 2), Williams’ cousin, Mieoki Corbett-Jacobs, posted an update on the search for Zelig, confirming that he hasn’t been found and shared that they believed Zelig’s disappearance was a result of something far more sinister.

“2025 is here and tomorrow will mark the 3rd month since Zelig Williams left his home heading out with a portfolio in his hand… possibly to drop it of or meet with someone briefly,” Mieoki Corbett-Jacobs typed on Facebook. “On behalf of Kathy Williams, Christine Mclaughlin Barber, Caroline Lewis Jones and our family we thank you for your unwavering support. That being said we want to provide some updates and understanding: The search will continue, but not in the areas that we’ve searched before (stay tuned for additional dates and locations in the next week or two), We do not believe that Zelig is in the water and we ABSOLUTELY believe that there is foul play related to his disappearance.”

I think about this case often. Two separate things have been rattling around in my brain.

First thought, if he was withdrawing from psych meds, he may have also been having physical symptoms. Nausea, digestive distress, brain zaps that can feel like seizures, etc. Maybe he had to pull over at the parking lot because he felt suddenly ill. The key still in the ignition possibly suggests that he left suddenly.

Second thought, unrelated to the first, if he brought his headshots with him, maybe he was on his way to an audition, or at least believed that he was. I don't think that this was a planned hookup gone wrong on the trail based solely on him leaving with his headshots. Zero reason to bring them to a casual encounter.

Caroline Lewis Jones, who described herself as one of Zelig’s “mentors” and “dance moms,” told The Independent that she also thinks somebody knows something and that she “feels strongly that there will be answers soon.”

Corbett-Jacobs said Zelig’s mother and aunt are overcome with grief, particularly after the earlier loss of his sisters.

“That’s why it is so special when you see him perform,” Corbett-Jacobs said of Zelig’s dancing. “He is dancing with his sisters in his heart. He feels them with him.”

Sheriff Leon Lott has said that tips from the community are critical to finding Zelig.

The dancer’s family said they will continue their searches, based on what comes in from the tips and have vowed to never give up.

April 2, 2025

It will be six months Thursday since Broadway performer Zelig Williams vanished near the Palmetto Trailhead in the Midlands, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions. Despite numerous search parties, vigils, fundraisers, and the involvement of private investigators, the case remains unsolved.

The terrain searched sounds tough to navigate. After following the Tyler Goodrich case, I wonder if searchers spent time looking upward (in trees) while they searched? I hate to even say that but I think many were surprised in Tyler Goodrich's case too. Just MOO.

Zelig seems like a beautiful soul and I hope he is found soon.
