Bad in a blizzard, once you are off the road..... Praying for Amy to be found soon.

I too live close by. However, my take on this is different. In white outs and ground blizzards we do not leave. Point blank we do not leave. My son in law calls our SD counties the tundra and for good reason...
Howdy neighbor! I agree when winter storms hit no one wants to be out in it, especially in the country. But if Amy was headed to work, and it was not a great distance, I can see why she was out in it. No one wants to risk losing work in these trying times. My own mindset having lived in SD and MN most of my life is that 10 miles in crappy weather vs worrying about losing my job (I’m NOT saying this was her thought process or that her employer would not be understanding about the weather situation) that I’d probably risk it.
Especially now. We have cell phones to call for help if we get stuck, and she was between two small towns. Myself, I would not have felt it was an enormous risk. My thought would be ‘ well, if I get stuck in a ditch, etc., someone will come get me.’

Going to look for updates. Sadly local news in our area isn’t “local”. It almost all comes out of Sioux Falls now no matter where you live east of the river. Infuriating.

I’m unable to find anything more recent. I know where that slough is west of Bristol. It does seem like an obvious place to look if she went that far off the road. I guess what gets me and what I meant by my first post is that we aren’t talking about a HUGE area to search, and it’s not wooded or areas that are hard to see, though of course snow cover changes things.
Praying Amy is found safe. We have friends that are an elderly couple who got stuck in a blizzard and spent 6 days in their vehicle and came out fine! But this is much longer than that.

Do we know if she had a cell phone with her? Any pings? Need to reread some of the articles.

Search continues today, magnetometers are being used to search frozen bodies of water along Amy's expected path of travel.

That’s good that they’re still searching. I tried to find any local updates in MSM and nothing. She has to be somewhere!!! I hate they’re looking in bodies of water. I’m trying to remember and I know it was a blizzard that day, but in general our winter temps have been unusually mild so I don’t know if bodies of water were frozen when Amy went missing. Certainly not thick ice by any means. Two days ago my entire yard etc were clear of snow completely!
Of course smaller, shallower bodies of water will freeze solid faster.
This is so sad. Praying for Amy and her family.

5 weeks now since Amy has gone missing. There is no new information. Law enforcement and search teams efforts continue. Folks who participate in outdoor sports; hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, are asked to alert authorities should anything out of the ordinary is noticed.
