He's fighting a 6 month law license suspension? That's a slap in the face to the victim's family and to the justice system.
The guy should be in jail. He should be counting his lucky stars.

ETA: he held the highest justice office in the state. He lied and obstructed justice. He killed someone due to his distraction. If he had come clean, then I would have some sympathy for him, but instead he is taking the offensive.

After they found the victims glasses in this guy’s car he still claimed to not “recall”.

NEW:
Iowa suspends Ravnsborg law license... for TWO months. That's less than South Dakota's six months.

Ravnsborg currently lives in Wisconsin. Let's pray he doesn't text and drive there.

Ravnsborg fights to keep Iowa law license: Former South Dakota attorney general fights suspension of Iowa law license • Iowa Capital Dispatch

I love this quote: "Ravnsborg ... says resigning would have been the easier path for him to take but he opted to remain in office to serve 'my client, the state of South Dakota, who repeatedly shows up on lists as one of the most corrupt states.'"

And a corrupt attorney general should know.

Sigh.

Yes, brave Jason, you fought ceaselessly against corruption, especially when you tried to bully and cajole those LE who, even as they must have feared reprisals from your cronies, did their jobs after your dangerous driving -- watching videos of yourself speechifiying and texting whilst driving at night -- resulted in the death of an innocent man. Do you know who I am? you asked. Yes, they said. A repeat offender. Not the Sword of Justice. Just a puffed-up, vainglorious distracted driver.

A man died. You lied about that too -- it was an animal, fellas, really! -- muddling up narratives and evidence, and then did everything you could to avoid censure all the way through the proceedings, including regular slurs upon the deceased's reputation, his family, and so forth. Because you were on honourable man putting it all on the line to fight corruption and the forces of evil who were sworn and bound to obstruct that good fight. And what was that good fight? Your name, and your position. That's about it.

And still, from Wisconsin, a tiny fish in a much bigger pond, you fight on. Because you are the One Good Man.

Sure you are.

This is the best “I don’t recall” win ever and it’s works great when it doesn’t take much convincing.

Interesting... I was checking to see if there were any updated posts on this case and when I tried to search "Jason Ravnsborg," nothing came up.

Has that happened to anyone else?

I found this thread and could return to it only by going back through my posting history.

I like to think that the internet rose up as one and vowed to forget about J. Ravnsborg, as I shall. No doubt he's grifting away somewhere, though at least in a place where, should he be pulled over for yet another distracted driving/ speeding offence, an officer can simply raise a quizzical eyebrow when R demands "Do you know who I am?"

His victim always seemed to be a far kinder, more thoughtful and humane man than his killer. Let friends and family and the wider world remember him.
