I have not kept up with this case, so pardon me if I am off base. I just can't see a poorly dressed child hanging out at the gate in 20 degree weather.
There was discussion in earlier threads that there is a cattle guard located at the gate. Those can be tricky for an adult to cross on foot; even trickier for a child with smaller feet. She might not have been lingering there so much as just moving slowly as she navigated her way across.

She should be there and dead then. She's not.
I'm getting more and more annoyed here, getting the same feelings as with that couple who were murdered, the husband's head off and his wife sunk into the lake never to be found.
LE, and the school, 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 up BIG time here, jmo.

Totally agree!! This is a travesty!

Three different what was it radio frequencies being used at the home that day? I personally would like to know more about this. No judgment, I would simply like to understand what this means better and in more detail.

I wish this story would get on the Today show and nightly news and really out there in case she was abducted. Maybe somebody saw something in a surrounding state and has no idea of the case. Running away from a Children's Home definitely makes it newsworthy enough.

This has been something of a sore point from the start (at least I felt that way), this story made no big waves or news. Everyone I know to this day have never heard of this case, those that know are because I told them about it myself and they could not believe it did not hit the news.

jmo.

She was seen by the gate by a couple who had dropped off another child. They reported it. When they then drove to find her, she had completely disappeared. Did she walk or run up the road? Nobody knows. Did she dart into the woods, up a hill, or along a side road? Nobody knows. So far, she hasn't been found anywhere. In that weather she wouldn't have gotten very far, at least that is the accepted belief.

IMO, also combine the frigid temps with her clothes most likely getting wet.
Temperatures were around 20 and falling, and the wind had picked up. Why do you say her clothes were getting wet? Simply from her own exertion?

It has been a sore point. But the general assumption in MSM is that she simply ran away into the wilderness. They probably don't think that there is any chance that anybody could have seen anything. It's only a matter of time until she is found.
MSM has to weigh each story, I think. They can't report on every single person that went missing, or every child that ran away.

Yes, I believe her clothes, especially her pants, would have got wet from her running outdoors. I can't imagine her staying dry.

Yes, I think there are various possible reasons. Some cases take off, some do not. Sometimes it is the lack of information. Sometimes it is who it is that brings attention. Sometimes it is likely the accessibility and whether there are press conferences.

I just know that in the very beginning it was almost impossible to even keep this thread alive, it was like she was gone, that was it.

That is jmo. I do think the senator has brought some needed attention. I have no knowledge of her, like or dislike nor know much but the attention to this case I was happy to see. I think all family members coming forward too was beneficial and helped us in the public understand a bit more about Serenity. Those things do make a difference I think.

I will say, however, it still barely touches MSM. But then if I had my way all missing children would be all over it all of the time :)

Again jmo.

Really, how many people pay much attention.

That is why I am on here. I know zero people who have more than three seconds interest in any crime

And any snow that would have gotten on her would have melted from her body heat and turned to water. That water would have then frozen from the cold and wind and turned into a coating of ice on her clothes. I

I have mixed opinions on this case. I have not ruled out foul play; nor have I ruled out she found a place to hide and succumbed to the elements.

I know several think she couldn’t have got that far, and several think kids don’t like getting cold. I’ve mentioned before, I have an adopted child who has issues. When he gets into “flight” mode, it’s like his brain shuts down. He doesn’t think about simple things, such as temperatures, safety, etc. This last winter he even ran out into the snow barefooted. No, he didn’t immediately turn around and come back in. We had to coax him.

Based on my experiences, I think if Serenity was in flight mode, she would have never thought about temperatures, until it was too late. I think her adrenaline would be pumping and she would get as far away as she could as fast as she could. With this mindset I believe she could easily get lost, unable to find her way back, once she started thinking clearly.

Very sad situation. I’m glad the residential center did an internal investigation and pin pointed their inadequacies. I pray they take that seriously and make the necessary changes.

JMO, MOO

If I had seen a child in a long sleeve tee shirt outside in that weather, I would have stopped right there and questioned her as to what she was doing and kept an eye on her if she ran. They could have done that and used their phone to report it at the same time.

YES, I would have done the same.

Very true.

But there was no snow when she first ran, nor was it snowing. It didn't start snowing until several hours later.

They weren't close enough to question her. They were in the parking lot, which sets well off the road, and down a hill. They immediately went in and reported it, then drove to where she was in order to find her. But by then she had disappeared. I don't think they did anything wrong.
