Proximity of so many reservations in the near area speaks to me of the possibility of an indigenous person whose disappearances are sadly under reported and under investigated. I don't know, of course. I hope they are identified as quickly as possible and returned to their loved ones, whomever it is.

Beverly Ann Ozuna-Ulrich disappeared from Belle Fourche in 2003. There are several more missing from Rapid City (~60 miles away) and farther afield.

Identified as Justin Plaggemeyer, 42, of Spearfish missing since approx. January 2021.

Skeletal remains found in Spearfish identified

The cause of death and circumstances leading to the death is still under investigation.
