Found Safe SD - Tama Truax, 61, Rapid City, 3 Apr 2020 *depressed, armed*

Law enforcement agencies are now looking for a missing Rapid City woman last seen on Friday, April 3, 2020 at 10:30pm. Family members of 61 year old Tama Truax are concerned for her safety.

Truax was last seen in the area of Sawmill Road and Sheridan Lake Road Friday evening. She is described as a white female, six feet tall, 155 pounds, with brown eyes and long blonde hair wearing a gray North Face jacket with a fur hood, dark gray sweat pants and brown boots. (Picture attached)

Truax suffers from mental health issues including depression. She may be suicidal and have a handgun. As a result, if you see this person, please do not approach and rather contact law enforcement immediately.

Pennington County Search and Rescue started searching for Truax about 4 am, Saturday, April 4, 2020. They have deployed K9 teams and have used a drone with heat sensing capabilities. If anyone has seen or had contact with Truax, please contact the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office at (605) 394-6115.

Update: 61 year old Tama Truax of Rapid City was found safe this evening by Pennington County Sheriff’s deputies. We thank Custer, Lawrence and Pennington County Search and Rescue for all their resources and efforts with this 14+ hour search.
