He has a very dark side to him. Have you ever seen him on a personal interview? He chain smokes through the entire thing without ever breaking a grin.

Ahhh yes, Method Actors!
IMO He's twisted!

If I recall correctly, I believe he's a woman beater and has a rather violent streak. Doesn't he?
I haven't heard too much about his marriage to Robin Wright but his marriage to Madonna was strife with domestic abuse and substance abuse problems.

But then, I can't stand the guy. Never have been able to since the Madonna days. There aren't a whole lot of stars that I consider to be in the ranks of the old days. LOL! Showing my age again. :o

I googled that and found that he was a paparazzi beater. As far as wife beater, did he beat Madonna? I was 7 when they were married so I really don't remember things that happened back then.

Everyone has the right to the own opinion of course, and I'm certainly not going to say what everyone is thinking is wrong.

My own personal opinion is that I'm not going to speak poorly of someone who maybe was honestly trying to help. Obviously, he isn't a trained rescuer and probably hadn't a clue what he was doing out there and that's why it ended the way it did. If he's anything like a lot of people watching this horror go down on TV, he probably wanted to go down there and do something, do anything to help, whether or not he was truly prepared or not. Some people have their heart in the right place, but just don't have enough sense to carry through, and that's what I choose to believe happened with Sean Penn.

JMO, only! :) :truce:

Cool wasn't it? Did you read the entire article, I hope he gets some of that money from his area.
Yes, I hope he gets paid back. If not, I still bet he'd never complain. He is a REAL hero in my book. Penn should stay home and just give this guy some $$$.
I'd like to see the guy head to Gulfport or Biloxi. We are still seeing just how horrible that was. Many people died there that thought they were back far enough from the Gulf to survive the storm surge, only to find out they weren't.
Very sad. :(

I'm sure he might offer a home to some small young boys.

If he does what he did after the tsunami, he'll update his website to explain why he is more deeply affected than the rest of us, and talk endlessly about writing a song he never finishes.

Or maybe he'll go all out and donate a napkin!

(lol, Linda)

I think there are many celebs who could have done worse than Sean Penn. Michael Jackson is one of them. Of course, Britney Spears, a native daughter of Lousiana, is offering her prayers, very nice of her but how about some of her million$$$$ if her husband , Mr. (Federline) Spears hasn't spent them already.

I will withhold judgment and hope she and many others do so quietly without fanfare.

Personally, I think the many of the biggest contributors wish to remain anonymous.

I don't care for for people that make napkin donations, personal photographers tagging along, or twits that call Guinness to have their "charitable donations" recognized.

If Mr. Penn succeeded in rescuing anyone, or if that photog wasn't his personal photog but a journalist (and not used for political propaganda then I apologize for calling Mr. Penn a "tool" based on that one report. But I see nothing wrong with discussing anyone using this disaster for the wrong reasons, including Bush, etc. FWIW-I think Penn is a brilliant actor, without question. But I don't care about that. :)

I agree, DK. I wasn't arguing that the subject should be off-limits, just that with what little we know: Penn tried to take a boat and a photographer, but boat sank - we don't really have any reason to assume this was merely a photo op.

And there's another thread asking "where are the celebrities now?" Well, at least we know Penn was trying to do something. I wish he had been successful.

It's my understanding they are hurting for money. So much so she is trying to get an album out ASAP to bring some in. Only rumors from music insiders, though, at this point.
